I am pleased to announce the release of the Primary School Profiles (PSP) 2021. In addition to the printed copy, an electronic version is available online (https://www.chsc.hk/primary/en) to facilitate parents’ ready access to school information.
Each primary school has its unique strengths and vision. When choosing a primary school for your children, you should first identify your children’s attributes, personalities, abilities and interests, and consider various factors such as the sponsoring body, history, location and religion of a school. Apart from making reference to the PSP, you may attend talks on Primary One admission held by the Education Bureau to have exchange and sharing with experts and other parents on selection of schools, and join relevant activities or talks organised by individual primary schools to acquire a thorough understanding of their school-based admission mechanism, development direction, vision and characteristics. Also, you may seek professional advice from principals and teachers on choosing a suitable school for your children.
From a lively and relaxing ambiance in kindergartens to a more disciplined setting in primary schools, children may feel challenged about having to cope with changes and adjustments. To help children adapt to the new environment and learning mode, parents are advised to find out children’s feelings and learning needs by having more dialogues with them and giving them a listening ear, and to provide them with encouragement and support.
When your children have proceeded to primary education, you are encouraged to maintain close communication with the school and spare time for activities arranged by the school or its parent-teacher association, so as to get a fuller picture of your children’s learning in school and strengthen home-school connection. It is our common goal that through home-school co-operation, we can enable our children to learn and grow up in a harmonious and happy atmosphere.
In closing, please accept my best wishes to you and your family. May I also wish your children health and happiness throughout their journey of growing up.
