Message from CHSC Chairman

September 2025

Dear Parents,

I am delighted to announce the publication of the Primary School Profiles (PSP) 2025. This latest edition is a comprehensive guide to over 500 primary schools, covering aspects including the school mission, school facilities, teaching staff, class structure, performance assessment, school life, school characteristics, student support, and more. In addition to printed copies, the PSP is available online as a handy reference for school information.

Online version of the PSP (https://www.chsc.hk/primary/en)

Choosing a suitable school for your child requires an understanding of their attributes, personalities, abilities and interests. Consider various aspects of the school, such as its educational philosophy, location, religion, and its approach to home-school co-operation and ethos. Besides consulting the PSP, participate in activities or attend talks organised by individual primary schools to learn more about the schools, including their admission procedures, development plans and distinctive features. Seeking professional advice from school principals and teachers can also be helpful in selecting the right school for your child. In addition, attending the Education Bureau’s (EDB) talks on primary school transition will deepen your understanding of the Primary One Admission System.

Transitioning to primary school is a significant change that is challenging for children, involving adjustment to a new learning environment, a different mode of learning, and different daily routines. To prepare your child for a smooth transition, pay close attention to their learning, behaviour, social interactions and emotions. Spend quality time with them, listen attentively to their thoughts and feelings, and provide timely encouragement and feedback. This support will help them develop a positive approach to difficulties and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. You may also refer to the EDB’s 4Rs Mental Health Charter, which promotes children’s mental well-being by encouraging them to have enough Rest, take time for Relaxation, build interpersonal Relationships and cultivate Resilience.

A close partnership between home and school is crucial for your child’s learning and development. Stay updated on your child’s progress and foster a stronger home-school connection by maintaining close contact and good communication with the school, and participating in activities organised by the school and the Parent-Teacher Association.

Finally, I extend my best wishes to you and your family. May every child flourish and thrive.
