About World Health Day and High Blood Pressure
World Health Day is celebrated on 7 April to mark the anniversary of the founding of WHO in 1948. Each year a theme is selected for World Health Day that highlights a priority area of public health concern in the world. The theme for 2013 is high blood pressure (hypertension). The WHO has set four goals of World Health Day 2013, namely greater awareness, healthy behaviours, improved detection, and enabling environments. To echo World Health Day 2013, the Department of Health, in collaboration with a number of supporting organisations, will be launching a territory-wide publicity and public education campaign on hypertension in April 2013.
