Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2020 ).Admission Criteria for S.1 Discretionary Places: 1. Academic results (of both school examination results and the ranking shown in the Discretionary Places Rank Order List) [30%]. 2. Conduct [10%]. 3. Achievements in extra-curricular activities, voluntary service and remarkable performance in any other aspect [20%]. 4. Interview (conducted in both English and Cantonese) [40%]. Our school will offer interviews for all applicants.
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : S.1 Orientation and S.1 Bridging Programme are conducted in late July and early August every year. Caring Ambassador Program is held to help S.1 students to adapt to new secondary school life.
In order to help students achieve healthy development both physically and psychologically, our school participates in Cross-schools Healthy School Scheme and organizes a wide range of activities through Health & Sex Education Team, sport clubs and some interesting sports groups.

School Management
(1)School's Major Concerns : 1. To extend “Reading to Learn” to “Language across Curriculum” to assist students with their studies.
2. To reinforce STEM education and ITE to enhance learning and teaching.
3. To nurture students with positive core values and attitudes towards life by strengthening value education.
4. To foster an entrepreneurial spirit among students by enriching students’ other learning experiences.
5. To develop students’ lifelong learning capabilities and foster their whole-person development by diversifying their life-wide learning experiences.
(2) School Management Organisation: : The School Management Committee (SMC) was set up in 1999. It is comprised of a wide representation of stakeholders, including the Chairperson assigned by the Education Bureau, members of Heung Yee Kuk N.T., the Principal, representatives of teachers, parents, alumni and community members.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee: : The School Council was established in 1969 and is now composed of 13-18 members, chaired by a member appointed by Heung Yee Kuk N.T..
(4) School Green Policy: : The School’s Environmental Education Team aims to create a green campus for students, promote energy conservation and reduction in greenhouse emission, as well as enhance students' awareness of environmental protection especially in the issues of global warming and biodiversity.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy: : English is used as the main medium of instruction. (Please refer to "Subject offered" 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 for details.)
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies: : Our teaching staff is veteran teachers, possessing professional qualification. They adopt interactive learning and teaching approaches. Various learning activities blended with different questioning techniques are utilized to inspire students' thinking. Meanwhile, an enquiry approach is also adopted to conduct project learning in junior forms to encourage proactive learning among students and develop their generic skills. Students are actively involved in classroom learning activities and are able to utilize various learning resources, attaining the objective of learning to learn.
(3) School-based Curriculum: : 1. Electives: 3X. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics Extended Part Module 2 (Algebra and Calculus), Information and Communication Technology, Economics, History, Chinese History, Geography, Chinese Literature, Visual Arts.
2. Curriculum highlights: A 'Class Teacher Period', in which a variety of activities with various themes are held, is conducted every cycle to help students develop positive moral values and social attitudes. In 'Reading Periods', junior form students have ample chances to acquire various reading skills. To develop students’ reading habit, strengthen their understanding of current affairs and cultivate their critical thinking skills, students are encouraged to explore a wide variety of books and newspapers. Music Appreciation Periods and Arts Appreciation Periods are conducted to develop students' artistic sense.
(4) Development of Key Tasks: : 1. Reading to Learn: The library and teachers work collaboratively to promote reading. Students are encouraged to participate in different reading schemes, book exhibitions, author sharing sessions and subscribe English and Chinese newspapers to arouse their interest in reading.
2. Information Technology for Interactive Learning: Computer subjects are offered in all levels to better students' IT skills. Various IT resources such as computer programming, App creation, wireless network and e-learning platforms are widely used in all subjects. Furthermore, our school provides students with useful information and learning materials through Google platform to encourage them to learn actively and effectively.
3. Project Learning: Project learning is implemented in S.3 Life Education. Teachers play the role of learning facilitator. This program can facilitate learning to learn, collaborative learning, independent learning and cross-curricular learning. It can also foster life skills through experiential learning and develop students’ cognitive skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Continuous assessment is adopted to evaluate students' learning progress regularly.
4. Moral, Civic and National Education: We aim to develop positive values of students and encourage them to be responsible members of the school, good citizens and abide by the law of society, develop positive attitudes, respect life, respect others, uphold the spirit of mutual love and help as well as care for others. We teach them to stay alert to current affairs and international news,and strengthen their understanding towards national conditions. Flag-raising ceremonies and competitions are held to strengthen students’ patriotic sentiment and foster national identity.
(5) Career and Life Planning: : Our school emphasizes students’ life planning. Apart from providing students with career guidance services, different talks and sharing sessions are organized based on our school curriculum components and students’ needs to ensure effective implementation of life planning education. Our team provides different services that could align with the developmental needs of students. Admission talks by tertiary institutions, career talks, alumni sharing sessions, talks for S.3 students and parents on SS subjects selection are organized to help students make informed choices on their learning and career goals. We also disseminate career information to let students keep abreast of the most recent development in further studies. Students are provided with opportunities for career exploration to help them adapt to the transition from school to work. Class teacher periods and sharing sessions are arranged to promote career development of students. We expect that students are equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitude to make wise choices in accordance with their interests, abilities and orientations; and guided to integrate their career/academic aspirations with whole-person development and lifelong learning.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Cater for Student Diversity: : Group teaching is adopted to facilitate learning and teaching of core subjects, i.e. Chinese, English and Mathematics. After-school tutorial sessions, summer tutorial courses as well as remedial and enhancement programmes are well planned and implemented to cater for learner diversity. The school social workers and teachers of the Student Support Team work collaboratively to organize seminars, workshops, etc to enhance students’ confidence and motivation. Careers and Life Planning Team provides students with guidance and the latest information about work and studies. There are also Pre-S.1 Bridging Programme and S.1 Ambassador Scheme which assist newcomers with adapting to their new secondary school life. Counselling teachers work jointly with the school social workers and education psychologist to provide students facing various difficulties with appropriate assistance and support. Class teachers and parents concerned are kept well informed so as to maintain good communication.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education: : The school is committed to building an inclusive environment to cater for the educational needs of all students and to use school-based models to support students with special educational needs. Through home-school cooperation and resource allocation, the school provides students with appropriate and diversified support services to enhance their learning efficiency and communication skills which can help them integrate into campus life easily. The school has established Student Support Team, which includes teachers and teaching assistants who have been trained in special education needs. The group maintains close contact with guidance teachers, discipline team teachers, language teachers, social workers, educational psychologists and special education needs service teams of the Education Bureau. The team works with other sections of the school to support students in need. The school flexibly allocates a variety of resources, including learning support allowances, assessment services provided by the Education Bureau and resident education psychologists, counseling services, and integrated education programs in school-based models. The school provides special examination arrangements for students with special educational needs and helps them to apply for the special examination arrangements in public examinations from the Examination Authority. Class teachers and all other teachers will pay full attention to the students with special educational needs and will assess their progress through classroom observation and academic performance. The school also purchases service such as speech therapy services and communication skills training group to enhance the care of students with special educational needs.
(4) Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment: : Academic assessments are divided into two categories: 1. Examinations: There are two examinations in each academic year – Mid-sessional and Sessional examinations. 2. Coursework Grade: Grades are given with reference to students’ performance in tests, homework and participation in lessons.
Home-school Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation: : Our teachers keep close contact with parents through making regular phone calls, meetings, school activities, school website, newsletter and the like. Since the establishment of the Parents and Teachers Association in 1985, a variety of events have been held to enhance communication between teachers and parents and improve students' welfare. For instance, picnics, seminars for parents, Open Day and S.6 Graduation Ceremony were held and scholarships funded by PTA were also established.
(2) School Ethos: : The school atmosphere is harmonious, peaceful and liberal. Students are self-disciplined, motivated and diligent. A good rapport between students and teachers is established. The school emphasizes students’ whole person development, encouraging them to achieve outstanding performance in the following areas: academic, conduct, other learning experiences and service.

Our students’ outstanding performance was recognized by the public. For years, many of our students were selected as awardees in various outstanding selections including HKSAR Outstanding Students Selection, Outstanding Student Leaders Selection,Student of the Year Selection organized by SCMP and New Territories Outstanding Students Selection.

The school provides a lot of opportunities for students to explore their potential to the fullest. Various school based exchange programs, overseas trips and excursion relating to STEM and English learning are organized for students to widen their horizons, experience different cultures and develop interpersonal skills. Furthermore, students are devoted to serving the community through voluntary work and service while their good deeds are highly appreciated.

The school also actively develops students' talent in physical and aesthetic development. Students get numerous prizes in Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Festival and Inter-Secondary School Sports Competitions.

(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development: : Our school actively supports teachers to attend professional development courses, providing them with sufficient resources and various chances to enhance their professionalism. A series of Teachers’ Professional Development Days are organized to offer good opportunities for teachers to take part in various training activities. In recent years, the school has encouraged teachers to attend training courses and seminars for the new academic structure for senior secondary education and fostered the development of a new culture among the staff. For instance, collaborative lesson preparation is introduced in core subjects and Liberal Studies; peer lesson observation is also implemented in individual subjects and across different subject disciplines. All these enhance teachers’ professionalism effectively and efficiently.
Life-wide Learning Activities including Five Essential Learning Experiences, Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc. : There are 44 clubs and teams. They are classified into four main domains: academic, interest, service and sports; providing students with various extra-curricular activities to enhance students’ whole-person development.
Others : Our school provides students with opportunities to explore their potential to the fullest. For years, many of our students were awarded prizes and scholarships in various outstanding students’ selections. Also, students are provided with chances to take part in various exchange programs to widen their horizons, experience the cultures of different countries and develop their interpersonal and self-management skills. The school strongly encourages students to participate in open and inter-schools competitions to enable students to bolster self-confidence and boost their determination in striving for excellence.

Remarks : To enhance learning and teaching effectiveness as well as cater for students' diverse learning needs, four S.4, S.5 and S.6 classes are rearranged to groups of five.
