School Facilities: : All classrooms are air-conditioned. Apart from basic and standard secondary school facilities, the School also has a lift, an English Coffee Academy, the Campus TV, a STEM study room and a computer-assisted learning laboratory. All the classrooms and special rooms are equipped with computers, visualizers, internet connection and projectors. Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2021 ).The admission criteria and weightings for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places of SSPA are: internal academic results (35%), conduct (35%) and interview (30%). The language proficiency, analytical power, family support, extra-curricular activities, voluntary service inside and outside school, and awards are taken into consideration in the interview assessment.
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : The School is providing a two-week summer course for S.1 students, which includes English bridging classes, computer application courses, Mathematics classes, guidance on reading and school life counselling, in order to help students adapt to the new secondary school life.

The School puts emphasis on the development of students' balanced and healthy diet and awareness of nutritional value. Also, all S.1 students are required to have lunch in their classroom, under the monitoring of their class teacher, with the purpose of cultivating students' basic dining etiquette.

(2) School Management Organisation : It is the School's culture to encourage "whole school participation". In the course of proactive teaching, counseling and disciplinary work, all teachers of the School have been contributing to the establishment of a rigorous but caring school image. Various working groups work out measures in accordance with the set directions. Due to harmonious work relationship and consensus among the staff, school policies can be implemented smoothly and effectively. It also greatly enhances students' learning.

Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : Having Chinese as the medium of instruction, the School provides Cantonese teaching across all junior forms. Yet, the school emphasizes greatly the development of bi-literacy and tri-lingualism. The school has made good use of the policy of the EDB's Fine-tuning the Medium of Instruction for Secondary Schools and has allocated 25% of the teaching time to implementing English extended learning activity in junior forms in subjects including Mathematics, Integrated Science, Integrated Humanities and Computer Literacy, in a gradual and progressive manner. It is in our intention that the extensive exposure and application of English language can help build up students' ability in English language learning, and prepare them for their further studies and careers. Furthermore, our school is keenly creating an English rich language environment by means of putting in new policies and activities such as the School English Day and Newspaper Reading Session on Friday, with the hope that students can all acquire the bi-literacy and tri-lingualism effectively.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : It is our goal to strengthen students' learning ability. Over the years, our teachers endeavour to achieve the goal through fostering reading to learn, project learning in junior secondary classes and encouraging students' participation in classes. The School offers intensive and remedial classes after school and during vacations to strengthen students' aptitude in Chinese, English and Mathematics. Moreover, all subject teachers take active participation in teachers training and embrace inventive pedagogies. Teachers challenge students to conduct self-directed learning and encourage them to become motivated and self-driven young persons. Furthermore, all our subject teachers are keen on taking up training, experimenting with new pedagogies and encouraging students' self-learning. For example, teachers categorize and upload teaching materials and pre-lesson preparatory materials for students' viewing on computer or mobile phone; in the hope of better preparing them for the lessons and boosting learning efficiencies.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. The combinations of the elective courses in New Senior School Curriculum are highly flexible and diversified.
2. Curriculum highlights: Since 1999, we have adopted school-based curriculum successively in subjects including Chinese Language, English Language, Integrated Humanities, Integrated Science and Chinese History. The curriculum emphasizes tailoring for students' practical needs in the form of creating suitable teaching materials and designing various modes of assessment to cater for students of different abilities, needs and life experiences. The junior form Computer Literacy curriculum has adopted mobile phone app programming and design, and provided VEX robotics and LEGO robotics courses for students. 3D printing and stem teaching are also available; all these help to develop their interest and participate in world-class competitions with encouraging results.
(4) Development of the Four Key Tasks : We strive to promote various reading measures such as Chinese and English Extensive Reading Scheme, Students Reading Awards Scheme, Summer Vacation Reading Awards Scheme, Online Reading Programme, Parents and Children Reading Scheme, Reading Corner in every class and school-wide newspaper reading lesson. There are also reading schemes tailored for particular academic subjects. Apart from these, the School Library Club and Campus Reporters are responsible for organizing all kinds of activities related to reading. What's more, the Information Technology Committee, and the Moral and Civic Education Committee are responsible for implementing various key elements of the education reform, as well as other learning and teaching measures. Take social services as an example, the number of our students, who took part in the Elder Academy, exceeded 193 in 2018 and provided more than 1100 hours of service-learning for their fellow students. In addition, the Civic Ambassador Programme has raised students' civic-mindedness and enhanced their ability in leadership.
(5) Life Planning Education : Our school places emphasis on students' career and life planning education. Our school won the theme award "Promoting career and life planning" from the Hong Kong Christian Service and the Education Bureau in 2017. In 2018 and 2019 our school got a merit reward again in the scheme. Both junior and senior forms adopt the "promotion with the class teacher" scheme, which allows the class teacher to lead the role as career planners. Through different curricula, policies and activities in various forms, students enjoy every opportunity to learn about their strengths and weaknesses, as well as other social skills. This consequently helps students reflect on their capabilities versus what is expected in the career fields; and helps equip themselves for their career and set their life goals. Simultaneously, students learn to reflect their individual roles and responsibilities as a member in their family, the society and their country, and to pave way for a fruitful and meaningful life. For instance, the school provides career experience programme during summer holidays in the hope of fostering students' real-life experience and reflection.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : Catering for Learning Diversity among students has been one of our school's major concerns over the past few years. The school has rearranged and divided the 4 classes in each form, from Form 1 to Form 6, into 5 classes respectively. It is hoped that small class teaching can be carried out comprehensively and the individual needs of the diverse students can be catered for. In the 2019 and 2023 development cycle, our school focuses on developing students' initiatives in applying diverse e-learning tools together with self-directed learning strategies before and after lessons to cater for the diverse abilities of the students in the same class or in the different classes in the same form. Supplemented by Flipped Classroom and interactive e-learning platforms, the subject departments customize various learning measures and assignments (pre/post lesson, daily and holiday) so as to attain the objectives of maintaining effective remedial and enhancement programme and nurturing students' abilities in self-directed learning.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : The school adopts a whole-school approach to implement integrated education. Based on the "promotion with the class teacher" scheme, the school establishes a caring atmosphere in the class and the school. Students understand the differences among the students and understand each other with respect and acceptance. So they can work together to face the issues and problems related to their growth. The school is also committed to taking care of students' learning differences and using this as a school concern to enhance students' learning effectiveness through the use of e-learning, flexible curriculum policies, and tests and exams adjustments. The school has different learning needs support groups, led by the vice principal, special education needs coordinator, school social workers, teachers and teaching assistants, and introduces experts from different professional institutions to support the school to provide guidance services to students in need outside the classroom. These services include school-based speech therapy services, school-based educational psychology services, study skills groups in different disciplines, career planning groups and self-management teams. The school cooperates with social service organizations to organize peer-to-peer groups and school-based psychological counseling services to ensure that students in need receive the most appropriate support. Through parent-day, parents and class teachers, special education needs coordinators, school social workers and other inter-professional exchanges to promote mutual cooperation, so that students have the greatest benefit. Meanwhile, the School has joined the Student Mental Health Support Scheme, in which education and medical professionals support students with mental health needs in school.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking(NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: The school has been committed to building an inclusive campus culture. For details of the relevant support measures, please refer to the Education Bureau's guidelines. In the past few years, non-Chinese speaking students have not been enrolled in the school.
(4) Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment : We adopt a diversified and continuous assessment policy on students' academic performance. There are two uniform tests and two examinations in each academic year. Other assessment tools include quizzes, homework, special reports, special projects and class participation.
Home-school Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : Apart from promoting home-school co-operation, the School encourages parents to participate in large-scale school activities and Life-wide Learning activities, and develop common learning experiences with their children.
(2) School Ethos : Ever since its establishment, the school has adopted the policy of same class teacher for junior secondary classes. Class teachers can observe the growth of students as they are promoted to a senior form, and establish a close relationship with the students and their parents. Our students are generally virtuous and observe the rules and the teachers are able to encourage students to make every endeavor to excel in studies and extra-curricular activities.

The prevailing rigorous but caring school image is attributable to this policy. The school was awarded a certificate of merit in the second "One Student Cannot Be Less" Award Scheme from the Education Bureau in 2007 and consecutively won the title of "A School of Love and Care" from the Hong Kong Christian Service from 2009 to 2016. In 2017 the school was awarded the "Promoting Career Planning" theme prize and a merit award in the same scheme in 2018 and 2019. All these proved that our policy is well-established and indispensable. Besides, the traditional prefect system is replaced by the student sentry system in our school. These years the School has recruited and trained senior students as prefects who serve as role models and help monitor fellow students'behaviour in school. Also, teachers helping in the sentry system provides assistance and opportunities for teachers to communicate with students.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan : Our teachers are committed to providing quality teaching and care to every single student. We believe that everyone is teachable and is capable of making progress and becoming successful. It is also in our beliefs that our students can serve their school, their family, their society as well as their nation. The school will continue to modify its pedagogy, teaching content, assignment and assessment, and learning activities including e-learning platforms, flipped classroom and other self-directed learning strategies; in order to cater for learning diversity, which ultimately boosts students' learning competence. With the whole-school participation and the efforts of the Student Support Team, our school aims to inspire students' diversified potentialities so that they are keen to face new challenges and develop a proactive attitude to plan for their future life.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : The Teacher Professional Development Committee promotes teacher professional training and development. The teachers in our school actively participate in various in-service training courses, education conferences and seminars to keep them abreast of the latest development of education including the changes brought by the new senior secondary curriculum. The School started to trial run 'Open Class' in 2017 to facilitate teaching practice and professional development of teachers. In 2018, the School made 'Open Class' public and introduced a new mode in lesson observation and teaching analysis in 2019 so as to enhance professional interaction among teachers.
Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : The School is dedicated to promoting life-wide learning, including moral and civic education, intellectual development, community service, physical and aesthetic development and career related experience. It is hoped that students can achieve balanced development in different fields of study and reap good gains.
The School's extra-curricular activities are categorized under religious group, social service group, physical education, interests group, uniform groups and leadership training. There are nearly 40 clubs / groups, including Christian fellowship, Community Youth Club, Hong Kong Scouts Association, The Boys' Brigade HK, Coffee club, STEAM Models club, Ikebana in Blossom, Campus TV, Multi-media and Technology club, The Magic Twist, Doodle Lab, Hiking club, Drama club, Dance club, Athletics club, Badminton club, Fencing club, Martial Arts club, Pioneer group, Chinese club, Science club, Chinese history club, Geography club, Mathematics society and Business society etc. The school's Athletics Team is now ranked Division 1 in the Inter-school Cross Country Competition with continuous success. Moreover, the official Sports & Aesthetic lesson is now adopted in the S.1 curriculum in the hope of unleashing and developing our students' potential. The Aesthetics Development Day, which is held at the end of the second term, provides a performance stage for the talented students to show off their achievements. This year we held the event at the Youth Square in Chai Wan and all students working behind and in front of the stage gave excellent performances.
Others : Apart from providing scholarships to motivate students to learn, the School also strives to nominate students to compete for external scholarships. On the other hand, students have been awarded in various kinds of inter-school competitions. Various study tours of different themes are organized every year and have enabled students to go overseas for cultural exchange, learning and eye-opening experiences. In recent years, the School's exchange programmes and field-trips programmes have set foot in a range of cities and countries including Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Seoul, Thailand, Taipei, Taichung and Vietnam.

School Green Policy:
The development of students' sense of environmental protection is one of the school's concerns. The Environmental Protection Education Committee and the Civic Ambassador organize a wide range of on-going activities collaboratively to raise students' awareness of the need for environmental conservation. Moreover, as a pioneer in environmental technology, our school has joined the Community Weather Information Network since 2007 and has provided the Hong Kong Observatory with data from the weather station at our school roof. With the solar panels and wind turbines, together with the sustainable energy monitoring system, the facilities have served its energy conservation and education purposes. Furthermore, our school joined the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) Scheme of the Hong Kong Electric in 2019. All these show our school is the avant-garde in STEM education.
