Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2021 ).The admission criteria, which include interview performance, conduct, participation in extra-curricular activities, awards obtained and special talents, will be released on the school website in December 2020.
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : A pre-S.1 Cross Curricular Bridging Programme is organized in July to better equip pre-S.1 students to face the challenge of the new secondary school life. In late August, an Orientation Day is organized for all S.1 students and their parents, allowing them to get to know the school and the new learning environment before the commencement of the new academic year. In addition to the annual swimming gala and sports days, inter-house sports competitions and numerous sports teams are organized to create a healthy school life to foster the whole-person development of our students. A programme named "Aesthetic and Sport Development Scheme" has been introduced to encourage students to take part in art and sport training. Besides, Fruit Day, the Healthy School Programme and other school-based student development programmes are organized to raise students' health awareness.

School Management
(1)School's Major Concerns : Enhance students’ motivation and capacity for life-long learning; Nurture students’ positive values and attitudes and help them develop healthy lifestyles.
(2) School Management Organisation : Our School Management Committee is composed of Alumni, Parents, Teachers and Independent Members, fully utilizing and mobilizing resources from all areas to enhance school development. Besides, the establishment of the School Policy Committee allows teachers to take an active part in school management and development. The setting up of various executive committees and teams like the Learning and Teaching Committee, Student Whole-person Development Committee, Resources Management Team, School Development Team and Community School Co-operation Team are conducive to the effectiveness of the school-based management.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : Our SMC is set up to ensure that fair, open systems and procedures are in place for setting school goals, monitoring and evaluating progress towards those goals, so as to establish effective channels of communication within the school and with parents and the public.
(4) School Green Policy : The school encourages active participation of staff and students in energy-saving and reduction of waste. We have participated in the ‘Toner and Ink Cartridges Recycling & Reuse Programme’. Recycling facilities have also been installed. The Environmental Education Team of the school also raises school members’ awareness of local and global environmental issues by organising various activities such as the ‘Collection of Mooncake Boxes’ programme, ‘Green Christmas’ programme, ‘Earth Hour - No Lighting for One Hour in TWGSS’, recycling of school uniforms, talks and seminars. To further improve the campus environment, the school has also applied for the ‘Greening School Subsidy Scheme’.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : The School has adopted a holistic language policy in boosting language and generic skills. While we have a comprehensive curriculum for Chinese Language and Putonghua, with all Putonghua and English teachers attaining the Language Proficiency Requirement (LPR), our implementation on the use of English as the medium of instruction in major subjects and all aspects of school life is sound and highly effective. Our Native English Speaking Teacher not only teaches students in English lessons, but also conducts interest groups after school. We also motivate our students to develop interest in English via the English Week. Indeed, we start nourishing the language proficiency of our students with a tailor-made Summer Bridging Programme to help them adapt to the English learning environment. Students are also exposed to a truly English environment through our English Speaking Period. School-based learning activities are also designed by the Chinese Department to help students adapt to the Senior Secondary curriculum. With the concerted efforts of our language teachers and their well-designed classroom and diverse language activities outside the classroom, the language skills of our students are greatly boosted.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : In terms of teaching, the school focuses on developing students' motivation and ability to learn. In order to enhance their motivation to learn, the school especially strengthens the ability of junior form students to prepare their lessons and make personal notes to cultivate their self-learning habits. It also enhances students' classroom participation through multi-faceted and interactive classroom activities, thereby enhancing learning motivation and increasing learning initiative. Students are streamed according to ability and differentiated learning materials are designed in three core subjects (Chinese, English and Mathematics) in S.1-S.3. Optional challenging bonus questions are included in various subjects as an extension study for students to develop their self-learning ability. In order to enhance the quality of teaching, the school vigorously promotes peer lesson observation and open lessons, and arranges collaborative lesson preparation periods for teachers of the same level to co-plan and co-teach. In addition, the school attaches great importance to professional exchanges between teachers, and invites teachers from different disciplines to share experiences in areas such as assessment literacy, collaborative teaching and catering for learner diversity. The school arranges a life-wide learning day to help students broaden their horizons, enrich their learning experiences, and promote lifelong learning. The school also promotes effective learning and teaching strategies and encourages e-learning and development of STEM education. The school emphasizes the teaching of students in accordance with their aptitude.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: 3X. (a total of 13 humanities, science, arts and technology subjects to be freely selected)
2. Curriculum highlights: A great number of electives are offered in the Senior Secondary Curriculum. The provision of "Other Learning Experiences Lessons" helps enrich students' learning experiences. We fashion a curriculum in line with the interests and needs of our students, enhancing learning and teaching effectiveness. For example, the Chinese Language Department has a weekly writing programme for junior forms and a bi-weekly writing programme in senior forms to sharpen students' writing skills; the Geography Department holds different field activities to enrich students' learning outside school; the Science and Mathematics Departments have STEM activities to cultivate students' inquiry spirit and problem-solving ability; in Chemistry, an online self-regulated learning scheme has been adopted. Interactive activities are also devised in S.1 – S.3 Life and Society Curriculum for a smooth and successful transition to Senior Secondary.
(4) Development of the Four Key Tasks : The school values the concept of "learning from reading" and promotes interdisciplinary reading and extracurricular reading. The school implements the "Reading Period" in the afternoon and sets up different awards to tie in with the "Chinese and English Extensive Reading Scheme" to develop students' good reading habits. Book exhibitions, author talks, writing workshops and bookcrossing are held to further enhance students' reading interest and writing skills. Through project-based learning, teachers enable students to have a deeper understanding of the topics they have studied and apply them. The school fosters students' positive attitudes and values through both formal and informal curriculum. A variety of activities to guide students to balance their development and establish a healthy lifestyle are held. In addition, the "National and Civic Education Team" and "Moral and Life Education Team" foster students' good moral character and civic awareness through assemblies, class periods and internal and external activities. At the same time, through the flag-raising ceremony, talks and mainland exchange programmes, students' recognition of national identity will be strengthened. In addition, information literacy is embedded in formal curriculum and I.T. is widely adopted to enhance interactive learning. The school has set up the Google Education platform, which includes tools like cloud drive and online classrooms, to support various learning and teaching activities.
(5) Life Planning Education : In order to enhance students' self-awareness and their career and life planning skills, the School's Career and Life Planning Team organises various types of activities during the school year, including talks for students and parents, visits to tertiary institutions, internship prgrammes, career and life planning class periods, career counselling, TWGSS Careers Expo and mentorship programmes for different levels.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : In order to take care of the individual differences of students, for Chinese, English and Mathematics classes in junior forms, students are streamed into different ability groups to enhance the effectiveness of learning and teaching. Weekly tutorial classes are set up to provide individual academic counselling for junior form students, so that students who are lagging behind can lay a good foundation for their studies. The school also focuses on the development of students' potentials. The Gifted Education Team co-ordinates and arranges afterschool elite programmes, such as off-campus elite courses or competitions and on-campus elite training classes in different areas to unleash students' potentials and promote all-round development.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : The Students Support Team is led by the Special Educational Needs Coordinator. A whole school approach is adopted to provide appropriate support for students with special learning needs. Close collaboration between teachers, school social workers and Educational Psychologist enables the smooth implementation of various supporting services. Through effective school-based counselling strategies, including group learning activities and Individual Education Plans, students receive appropriate support to enhance their academic performance and social and emotional management skills.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking(NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; and organising cultural integration activities. The Chinese Department organises the 'After-school Chinese Tutorial Group' for the school year. It provides teaching materials designed for non-Chinese speaking students produced by the Education Bureau. Tailor-made supplementary exercises are also designed to help non-Chinese speaking students adapt to the Chinese curriculum of the school.
(4) Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment : The School evaluates students in a fair and just way, using diverse assessment modes. On top of tests and exams, the school has adopted continuous assessment on homework, quizzes, class participation and learning attitude.
Home-school Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : The Parents-Teachers' Association holds periodic activities such as a Christmas Party, Activity Day, picnics, talks and interest classes to establish a harmonious school-family relationship. Parents are invited to join the Annual Sports Day and Swimming Gala to be referees, timekeepers or student-parent relays participants. Some parents volunteer themselves to take part in the Afternoon Reading Periods too. These realize the home-school cooperation spirit. Effective teacher-parent communication is also fortified through Parents' Day, Parents Forums, S.1 Orientation Day, S.4 Streaming Talk, Talks on Multiple Pathways for S.5 and S.6 and the like. The school social workers arrange courses for parents to develop better parent-child relationship as well.
(2) School Ethos : Modest, disciplined, respectful and caring, students of TWGSS are all inherited from and growing up under this finest tradition and school culture. Our students commit themselves to study, extra-curricular activities and community services. They care not only about each other but also the needy in the community and they participate vigorously in social services like flag-selling, visits to kindergartens and homes for the elderly and all kinds of volunteer work. Besides, with teachers' guidance and support, they are fully exposed to a variety of sports competitions, public performances and exchange programmes, fully extending their potentials and talents and enriching their secondary school lives.

(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : The School encourages teachers to keep abreast of the latest developments in educational programmes, innovation, research, technology and teaching and learning, to ensure teachers are equipped with the skills and outlook required. Besides encouraging teachers to participate in external training courses and seminars, Staff Development Days, in-house training programmes and sharing are also conducted for professional development of teachers.
Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : Besides the four Houses and 14 School Teams, our school has provided in total 23 ECA clubs related to academic subjects, interest and social service to develop students' potential and cooperation ability. The Students' Association serves as a channel of communication between the school and students and enhances their ability to work independently. A Life-wide Learning Day with different well-designed activities for each level is organized to enrich students' Other Learning Experiences (OLE) and broaden their horizons.
Others : The Alumni Association and the Parents-Teachers' Association offer a range of scholarships for academic and artistic talents and outstanding athletes. Besides, a number of bursaries and assistance schemes, in both academic areas and extra-curricular activities, focusing on leadership and services, are sponsored by our Alumni Association and Parents-Teachers' Association, supporting those who might not be able to afford further education and catering to the needs of all students.
Direct public transportation to School : Our school is accessible by walking from Tsuen Wan or Tsuen Wan West MTR Station; or taking a bus travelling between Kowloon and New Territories West near Castle Peak Road and Tai Chung Road.
