Founded on the inspired Christian Virtues of Faith, Hope and Love and with the conviction of “to serve than to be served”, Tsung Tsin Christian Academy (TTCA) aims to serve the community and provides whole-person quality education. We believe that every student is a respectable individual created in the image of God, who possesses potentials to be holistically developed in a Christian environment, has great capacity and ability to learn and to be taught, and will be able to succeed in academic and non-academic endeavors. School Facilities: : Apart from 31 classrooms, TTCA has a range of facilities and resources aimed at facilitating teaching and learning including Self-Access English Learning Centre, Mathematics Activity Centre, STEM Room, 4 Science Laboratories, Innovative Science Laboratory and Computer Laboratories. Facilities such as heated indoor swimming pool, two-tier school hall, Student Activity Centre, Self-study Centre, an auditorium, a gym room, G/F and rooftop basketball courts, Roman Square garden stage, 2 student canteens and a renovated library are for students to develop their talents on campus. In order to stimulate a growing child’s mind and body, TTCA has recently built a volleyball court, a dance and drama studio, Music Production Centre and a renovated library. An indoor gymnasium will soon be added to the list.

School Management
(1)School's Major Concerns : 1. To further enhance the effectiveness of learning and teaching. 2. To sustain our belief of whole-person development.
(2) School Management Organisation : Our academy is operating under the management of Tsung Tsin Mission of HK Shamshuipo Church, which is a Christian organization with a long history and school management experience. To date, 4 schools, including our academy, are managed under Shamshuipo Church. They are: Shatin Tsung Tsin Secondary School, Tsung Tsin College and Tsung Tsin Primary School and Kindergarten.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : The SMC, established in 2009, includes representatives of school sponsoring body, the principal, teachers, parents and independent professionals.
(4) School Green Policy : Facilities such as greenhouse and indoor garden and related ecology activities connect students with Geography and Biology after class. In Christian Ethics and Liberal Studies, the social significance of environmental protection is emphazised through issue-enquiry approach. Waste Reduction: Paper waste separation bins in classrooms, three-colour recycle bins on the ground floor and a food waste processor in greenhouse promotes waste reduction and recycling habits on campus. To further reduce plastic consumption, we are considering cutting down on the sale of bottled water, and installing more eco-friendly drinking fountains around the campus. Students are also required to use the water-absorbent umbrella cases distributed by the school. Renewable Energy: Solar photovoltaic (PV) system has been installed to employ a level of sustainability and raise environmental awareness among students.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : As an EMI school, not only all lessons (excluding Chinese, Chinese History, Putonghua, Christian Ethics and Physical Education) are taught in English, most school events and activities including morning devotion sessions, announcements and promotions are mainly conducted in English also. In order to create an English-rich learning environment, we have a number of Native-speaking English teachers to teach different subjects so that teachers and students can share through a language they both are familiar with and students’ exposure to English can also be increased. On the other hand, Putonghua is used to teach Chinese Language in some junior classes so as to cater for the needs of the students who have learnt Chinese in Putonghua in their primary schools.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : 1. Small Class Teaching – Each class consists of 27 students on average. Teacher-student and student-student interactions can be increased through low student-teacher ratio.
2. Self-directed Learning – Our school aims to promote self-directed learning among all forms and all subjects. Having prepared for their lessons, students are expected to participate in lessons proactively so as to improve their self-efficacy in learning. Being one of the pioneers in pre-lesson enquiry in secondary education, TTCA Chinese department has been invited to various occasions to share their successful experiences and open their classrooms for demonstration.
3. Collaborative Learning – We emphasize the importance of building knowledge and skills together by encouraging students to work closely with each other inside and outside classroom. A variety of strategies is practised to promote collaboration among students, so that students can master the objectives of each lesson and fully understand the knowledge taught.
4. E-learning – Information technology, including various online platforms, apps and tablets, has been widely used in the school to enhance the effectiveness of learning and teaching.
5. Modular Curriculum – Modular approach is implemented in S.1 and S2. Students focus on fewer subjects per semester so that they can master the newly acquired knowledge and skills with more flexibility and relieve their stress from assignments and assessments.
6. Innovation and Technology Education - Thinking skills and STEM curriculum are tailor-made for junior form students. By cultivating their creativity and critical thinking, they are prepared for the future development in the society.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. For senior secondary curriculum, there are 90 combinations of elective subjects provided for students. To explore different pathways for students, IAL curriculum has been approved by the Education Bureau and will be implemented starting from the academic year 2021-2022.
2. Curriculum highlights: a. To cultivate the spirit of scientific enquiry and creative thinking, our STEM curriculum introduces programming and assembly of robots to our junior-form students; b. Catering for learner diversity through enhancement classes; c. Curriculum adaption with reference to 3-3-4 curriculum
School-based curriculums funded by the Quality Education Fund: - Self-directed Learning in Chinese Language: Integration of Pre-lesson Enquiry and MAPS Teaching Methodology - STEM Education of Synthetic Biology, training students to join the iGEM competition for beginners - School-based Junior Thinking Skills Curriculum
(4) Development of the Four Key Tasks : Moral, Civic and National Education: 1. Christian Ethics lessons for S.1-S.6 students. Discussions and analysis of social issues from different angles and upon biblical morality are in place during classes. 2. Social issue and personal experience sharing by teachers and students at class period. 3. Besides embedding moral and civic education into different subjects, form-based class periods are also tailor-made for students with the aid of subsidies from the Quality Education Fund (QEF).
Reading-to-Learn: 1. Reading time every afternoon to foster students’ reading habits. 2. Elements of reading are emphasized in various subjects to allow more platforms for students to scaffold their knowledge.
Project-based Learning: Through different projects, we aim to improve students’ problem-solving skills and nourish students’ interest in those subjects through research-intensive learning.
E-learning: 1. All students are equipped with Google accounts and are taught to utilize Google Classroom. Learning does not just take place in physical classrooms, but expands to virtual classrooms and everyday life. 2. Interactive teaching and learning is achieved through tablets and educational apps.
(5) Life Planning Education : Seminars, workshops and site visits are arranged for Life Planning. Besides understanding themselves, students are provided ample opportunities to understand their further-study paths and gain potential career information. Based on the entry requirements of local and international universities, S.3 Career and Life Planning focuses on coaching students about subject selection accordingly. Teachers introduce respective senior curriculum and have individual meetings with S.3 students to additionally guide them through subject selection. Senior Forms Life Planning is oriented on tertiary education and career planning. The former is done by having local and overseas professors from universities introduce their respective courses to our senior form students. Talks about admission and overseas studies are conducted on campus by representatives of overseas universities every year. To bring parents along with Life Planning, parents’ workshops are also organized to familiarize our parents with the different paths available to students choosing to continue their education. Career visits are also coordinated yearly for students to get first-hand information about different careers. Class teachers can guide students in the direction of their ideal career paths during these visits.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : Class allocation is made to maximize students’ strengths. We have elite English and elite Mathematics classes which provide with materials that are best suited to their abilities while taking into consideration their degree of mastery of the content so that they become enthusiastic learners. Elite training courses and local and global contests are arranged for gifted learners to take part in order to further explore bright students’ hidden potentials with their counterparts. Enlightening classes are also there for less-abled students to consolidate their learning outcomes and experience a sense of accomplishment while increasing their academic ability.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : To assist students with special educational needs, Social skills workshops, Peer Mentoring Scheme and study skills workshops are provided in TTCA. Our four social workers, educational psychologist and respective class teachers also meet regularly to evaluate the growth and development of those students with special educational needs.
(4) Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment : Should students be having special educational needs, the school will offer help in their learning and assessment as suggested by specialists to enable students to be equitably assessed under suitable conditions.
(5) Fee Remission : Our school offers full school fee remission or 1/2 school fee remission. Needy students, including those from families receiving the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) and students receiving financial assistance provided by the Student Financial Assistance Agency (SFAA) could apply for fee remission.

Home-school Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : - The communication between the school and parents have been well maintained through the Parent-Teacher Association. On top of traditional Parents’ Days, parents also get to meet all subject teachers once per year for a more first-hand face-to-face evaluation of students’ learning progress.
- To promote parent education, parents’ talks and workshops are held throughout the year.
- Various apps are also used in the parent community that are connected with the school so that parents can get up-to-date information about their children.
(2) School Ethos : With Christian faith, we value students’ holistic development and we are dedicated to nurturing future leaders. In an effort to help students develop positive moral values and responsibilities, the school provides students with specialized support and resources as follows: 1. Dual class teacher system, 2. 12-disciple mentoring scheme in junior forms, 3. Life Education curriculum, 4. Leadership training programme, 5. Form-based social service scheme.
Our effort has been highly recognized and appreciated by local educators. In 2018, TTCA was awarded the Excellence Award in the 2nd Outstanding Teaching Award for Moral Education, which was co-organized by the Education Bureau (EDB) and Winsor Education Foundation. In 2019, we were also awarded the Caring School Award by the Hong Kong Christian Service and the Outstanding Award of High-Five Student Engagement Award Scheme, which was co-organized by Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service, the Education Bureau (EDB) and the Education University of Hong Kong.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan : 1. TTCA is determined to maintain highly effective learning and teaching environment by promoting pre-lesson culture and Self-directed Learning. The school is preparing to introduce IAL curriculum in order to provide more educational opportunities for students of different needs and characteristics and sustained growth in educational needs.
2. Adhering to the spirit and belief in moral education and the teaching award, TTCA is committed to achieve the aims of whole-person development with our school motto – faith, hope, love.
3. The school undertakes continuous upgrade and refurbishment of campus facilities, such as advancement of wireless network, installation of solar panels and renovation of school library, in order to create a better and more advanced learning environment for our students and realize environmental benefits in different ways. With a focus on providing competitive facilities equipped for the 21st century – and beyond, we are also considering remodeling an indoor gymnasium which fit for the future.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : TTCA has a strong team of qualified and caring Christian teachers who strive to provide excellent educational opportunities and effective evangelical outreach for students. Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities to enable students to lead a vibrant campus life. Students are able to cultivate their interests through a total of 40 interest clubs and teams. In order to implement one-life-one-art/sports programme, junior-form students are required to participate in music and sports activity so as to stimulate their artistic temperament and get healthier. Leadership training programme is conducted in both junior and senior forms in order to develop students’ leadership skills to serve in various positions or student bodies such as Prefects, Student Ambassadors and Houses. TTCA is one of the pioneers in organizing whole-form overseas learning trips. All S.3 students go on an annual overseas learning trip together since the founding year. The school also arranges subject-based overseas study tours every year and is the first local secondary school to visit North Korea. All learning trips are led by our subject teachers in different parts of the world such as Europe, Australia and Taiwan to gain deeper understanding of their cultures and knowledge including Arts, Chinese History, Music and Science. Moreover, students are provided with exchange opportunities in different countries, e.g. Australia, Germany, UK and USA.
