Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : In order to assist freshmen in adapting to the new school environment, the school organizes a number of orientation activities in summer, such as Orientation Camp, Bridging Programme, Parents' Information Night and Treasure Hunt Camp. The psychologist from the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong, and four school social workers share their experiences to students and parents.

In order to establish a healthy campus atmosphere, enforcing rules on swine flu, tuberculosis and other infectious diseases handler, prevention and emergency response guidelines, school provides knowledge and implement on hygiene education, focus on student's healthy diet, nutrition, and exercise routine.

School Management
(1)School's Major Concerns : Strengthen the ability for self-directed learning in order to enhance the learning efficiency. Promote experiential learning to boost creativity in problem solving. Students in Nam Wah are cultivated to become responsible, courageous and willing to serve others in the community.
(2) School Management Organisation : The Incorporated Management Committee are composed by school manager, supervisor and principal. Teacher manager and substantial teacher manager are elected by all teachers with two years term of service. Parent manager and substantial parent manager are elected by Parent-teacher association with two years term of service. Alumni manager will be elected by alumni association with two years term of service.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : The Incorporated Management Committee are composed of school manager, supervisor and principal. The committee convene at least three meetings per year, in order to set educational objectives, maintain management on school's financial plannings and human resources. It also verifies and approves budget proposals submitted by the principal and the transfer and promotion of staff members.
(4) School Green Policy : Each class will elect their Environmental Ambassador by class teacher at the start of semester. Environmental Ambassadors are responsible for classrooms tidiness, reminding students be on duty duty, turning off lights and air conditioner before leaving the classroom, in order to fulfill the concepts of energy saving and recycling.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : The School strives to improve student's English proficiency, by appointing foreign teachers on enhancement of English speaking ability of junior high school students. There are enrichment programs, provided for student according to their level of language. As reading habit is significantly related to language abilities, the school arrange a number of activities to create reading environments.
In the classes of students having higher learning abilities in English, selected topics from Mathematics and Science subjects are conducted in English (not more than 25% of total lesson time).In normal classes, we dedicate up to 10% of total lesson time to extended learning activities in English (revision of some topics using English).Assessments and assignments are designed involving English elements. Members of task force are responsible to discuss and suggest opinions regularly to evaluate the performance of the policy and propose modification and improvement whenever necessary.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : Focusing on the needs of students, establishing clear learning goals, objectives and priorities, by interactive teaching methods, effective teaching strategies, and inspire student's potential by providing feedback to students through assessments. Enhance students' ability in English and Mathematics with after-school supplement course (Junior and Senior). The school provides M1 Mathematics Extended Part curriculum, with appropriate assessments and electronic materials. The school also focus on broaden students' cognitive level, implementation of interdisciplinary projects. With reading promotion plan, develop strategies, implementation and evaluation to create a reading atmosphere. Design STEM Project learning portfolio in curriculum, to raise students' potential in self-directed learning and learning effectiveness.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: 2X. Biology, Physics, History, Visual Arts, Chinese History, Chemistry, Geography, Business, Accounting and Financial Studies, Ethics and Religious Studies, Information and Communication Technology, Mathematics (Extended Part)
2. Curriculum highlights: School divided teaching groups in each forms of Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics, which cater for different learning needs of student. School arrange Integrated Learning period for each classes of last period, which proceed academic issues such as homework guidance, enhancement classes etc, extra-curricular activities and mass lecture will arrange on Wednesday.
(4) Development of the Four Key Tasks : 1. Through library, information center, online databases and school resources to systematically carry out a variety of reading activities to broaden the depth and breadth of students' reading.
2. The use of information technology for interactive learning, students can simply log in to the electronic system "e-class", in order to download assessment or subjects notes. The school contains four computer laps with sufficient amount of devices and tablets for student's efficient learning. Meanwhile these facilities are free to anyone in need in lunch times and breaks. Each classroom also contains an electronic interactive whiteboard, which could perform real time storage of teaching materials written on, also could play audio and video materials through the internet to enhance the students' interest in learning.
3. Perform positive development of project-based learning outside of the classrooms. Design STEM Project learning portfolio in curriculum, to raise students' potential in self-directed learning and learning effectiveness.
4. Moral and Civic Education: continue to go hand in hand with the Chinese University of Hong Kong as spiritual education partners to implement programs to strengthen students' self-reflection, exploration and adjustment skills. Through class teacher's sharing, volunteer service, flag-raising ceremony and national educational activities to deepen students' national consciousness, broaden their horizons and encourage them with healthy and positive attitude.
(5) Life Planning Education : Reinforcing students to seek further education or employment pathways, and assist them on decision of future path. Counseling, assistance and follow-up are provided to needy students accordingly, together with their prescribed path to achieve their goals. Focusing on the enrollment application process and individual student learning matters overview (SLP) issues. Follow-ups includes: results collections, arrangement of elective subjects instructor and selection of subjects related seminars and activities to S.3 and S.6 students, career and life planning day as well. Offering further information on universities and other colleges, organize career path seminars and provide employment information and organize related visits.
Student Support

The school has established a number of awards at all levels, to encourage outstanding students to maintain their learning progress and improve their academic performance. The school also provides remedial classes and after school tutorial classes on subjects such as English language, Chinese language and Mathematics for those in need. There are also English and Mathematics enhancement classes to cater for students' individual differences.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : Our School Learning Support Team consists of SEN coordinator, educational psychologist, teachers, school social workers and teaching assistants. The team works closely with other subject teachers and committee members to support students’ learning needs.
We have adopted the whole school approach. Teachers, parents and students are well supported in the hope of developing a respectful and cooperative school environment. Students with any special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, emotional problems and physical disabilities, will be provided with guidance and learning support. This includes helping students to adapt to new school environment and curriculum, special arrangement for school assessments and giving peer support. To support “Parent as Partner”, parents of SEN students are invited to set the learning goals with the teachers.
With a view to raise the awareness of life planning for those SEN students, different programmes are organized to help them discover their interest and develop their career path. Our peer counselling scheme allows students to understand different emotions and the problems related to emotional changes. Besides, our current programmes, such as Social Caring Programme, Learning Day Camp and Form 1 Bridging Programme offer students valuable opportunities to serve others with care in the school community.
Our school values parents as partners. Parents will be invited to participate support measures, with the help of educational psychologist, social workers and experts, we work together to promote and foster the culture of integration in the school. The connection between parents and teachers is strengthened.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking(NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; and organising cultural integration activities. Adjustment in curriculum and homework, after-school Chinese Language remedial course.
(4) Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment : 1. Summative evaluation: There are two examinations and two uniform tests in an academic year.
2. Continuous assessment: Conducted by classroom short test, reading report, academic assessment, quiz, classroom performance and special assessment.
3. Revision period before uniform test and exam: School arrange last period of 6 school days before uniform test and exam for revision purpose.
4. Remedial class and re-test after uniform test and exam: School arrange after school remedial lesson of 6 school days after uniform test and exam.
5. Policy on Class Promotion / Repetition: According to students' attendance, conduct, academic result and service performances, to consider students' class promotion/repetition criteria.
Home-school Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : The school have established a home-School Co-operation, main objectives are to promote and encourage home-school co-operation, strengthen the association between families and the school, publicize innovative workshops, seminars and conference for parents, develop publicity materials, gaining positive attitude towards the co-operation, and more importantly to enhance student and parent's education.
(2) School Ethos : 1. Through incentive schemes, the school encourage students to perform in high academic achievers and decent disciplinary, and together creating the positive school spirit. The school also guide violated students to participates in behavioral improvement plans, to ensure students performing in a right path.
2. In order to establish student's autonomy, the school insist on each student should participates in one role. These roles are responsible on classroom management, assisting class teachers and subject teachers, daily communications, class services etc.
3. School performs discipline and guidance co-operative mode, with whole school approach to support students' growth. Each class have 2 form teachers, and establish "Form Teacher Period" to provide students with suitable support and guidance.

4. Project WeCan Program combines the tripartite forces of business (The Wharf), University and secondary schools. Students can experience multi-learning domains, broadening their horizons and sparkling up the "We can" spirit.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : 1. Co-ordinate and assist new recruited substitute and intern teachers to adapt school's teaching and learning environment. Seminars, sharing sessions and co-planning sessions are organized to assist them in module/lesson planning, questioning techniques and classroom management skills.
2. Professional teacher development programs are provided to all teachers to encourage collaborative teaching and peer observation in school. Channels are provided for colleagues to share and exchange their teaching experience in order to enhance their teaching effectiveness.
3. Promotes professionalism through staff professional development activities, including three teacher professional training day per year.
4. Enhance the quality of teaching through lesson observation, student survey and subject reviews.
Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : In addition, the school have established a total of more than 50 activity groups accordingly to students 'different interests'. The objective is to develop personal potential, cultivate students' motivation on education through active learning, and providing equal opportunity to those who are less able.
