School Facilities: : The main building on the school campus is six storeys high. Besides the classrooms, it is fully equipped with a tuck shop, canteen, library, multimedia learning centre, laboratories, the Career and Life Planning Resource Centre and the Sports Science Room. The school premises also comprise three playgrounds, a school hall, dancing room and the Wah Shan Stage. All rooms are fully air-conditioned and equipped with new visual and audio facilities. The WiFi infrastructure (WiFi900) of all the classrooms in the school has been enhanced. Students can conduct e-learning through mobile computing devices.

Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : S.1 Orientation Activities: In July, the school will organize (a) English Bridging Program and Leadership Training Program for S.1 students and (b) Orientation Program for S.1 Parents.
Our school has been very concerned about students' health. Therefore, ‘free breakfast’ is provided for students in need, so that they can get adequate nutrition at this crucial stage in their development. In addition, we adhere to the guidelines for the prevention of various communicable diseases issued by the Centre for Health Protection. Junior secondary students will take part in physical training activities every Monday. The lunch supplier will offer healthy lunch menus. Students will help clean the classrooms and sanitise the furniture regularly. Moreover, students are cultivated with a correct and healthy lifestyle and a positive perspective on life through the Student Health Service of the Department of Health and different talks on the topics of personal growth including ‘Sex Education’, ‘Emotion Management’, ‘Healthy Diet’, ‘Health Information Sharing’, and ‘Winner Online’.

School Management
(1)School's Major Concerns : With the aim of Self-regulated Learning, cultivating good study habits for students and building highly effective lessons to cater for learner diversity and to accomplish Whole-person Career and Life Planning Development.
(2) School Management Organisation : The school authority believes in the spirit of school-based management in developing and monitoring the operation of the school. The key to success is a self-evaluation culture. Therefore, we highly value the importance of opinions from students, parents, teachers and the public for school improvement. Their views contributed greatly to school's improvements in recent years.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : The Incorporated Management Committee was set up in 2006/2007. There are representatives from different stakeholders like sponsoring body, affiliated churches, alumni and parents from the central body to manage the school. This greatly enhances the management effectiveness of the school.
(4) School Green Policy : Environmental protection is our school major concern. The school develops students’ sense of responsibility towards the environment through the implementation of the following activities.
(I) Energy saving: Encourage teachers and students to use email for communication and minimize the use of paper; teach students to turn off all electrical appliances, including computer, lights, and air-conditioners before leaving classrooms.
(II) Waste sorting and recycling: Recycling bins have been set up in the campus to collect used paper, aluminum cans and plastic bottles.
(III) Green campus: Greening of the campus is fully supported by students and teachers. The multi-layer vertical green pots are managed by students.
(IV) Student Environmental Protection Ambassadors: Two ambassadors are appointed in each class to promote environmental protection projects at school.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : Our school is devoted to fostering our students to be biliterate and trilingual. Mother-tongue is the medium of instruction. Our school meticulously create an English and Putonghua learning environment. Students are encouraged to communicate more often in English and Putonghua through a series of regular activities. In future, we will strengthen the support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students to learn Chinese and enhance the local students' ability of biliteracy and trilingualism through a range of inclusion activities.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : Students are expected to "Learn to lead": To be a good student at Kwei Wah Shan College means developing confidence, responsibility, maturity and humility to lead others. The school focused on (a) a series of broad and meaningful life-wide learning experiences to develop students' generic skills, (b) students' good foundation in Chinese, English and Mathematics, and (c) the implementation of the four key tasks of the curriculum reform (IT for interactive learning, moral and civic education, reading to learn and project learning). Our public examination results have been improving in the past few years.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Students were allowed to choose 2 to 3 subjects according to their interests and abilities.
2. Curriculum highlights: The school provides a broad and balanced curriculum comprising of eight key learning areas and four key tasks for curriculum reforms such that students will be all-round developed. The school also provides a variety of enrichment programs for Chinese, English and Mathematics for strengthening students’ basic skills in these three key subjects. Speech training and debate training will also be provided for students.
(4) Development of the Four Key Tasks : (I) Reading to Learn: The morning reading session at our school takes the initiative to cultivate students' reading habits and advanced reading skills. The library and other subject departments are working together to enhance students' thinking and communication abilities and build up a positive attitude to lifelong learning through the promotion of reading across subjects and reading award scheme.
(II) IT for Interactive Learning: The school has enhanced its computer system with full WiFi coverage in all classrooms and has set up different e-learning platforms with self-learning materials for students. About 20% of the lessons have e-learning activities. Furthermore, the school has promoted the “Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) E-Learning Programme' since 2020/2021 to enhance the effectiveness of student learning and develop students’ IT competency.
(III) Project Learning: All junior form subject teachers will guide students to carry out project learning to cultivate their abilities in problem solving, creativity, and critical thinking for establishing a good foundation for the learning mode of Senior Secondary Liberal Studies. Teachers in the two key learning areas, science and technology, will enhance the life-wide development of students through various STEM projects.
(IV) Moral and Civic Education: Our teachers shared topics including values in life, religion with students in the school assemblies. Besides, we also held activities in special dates to give students more chances to learn to love and to serve. Flag raising ceremony have been arranged to foster the sense of national identity and care for others.
(5) Life Planning Education : Career and Life Planning:
(I) To strengthen the understanding of life planning and lifelong education of all teachers through teachers' professional development; to help teachers understand the needs and expectations of senior form students towards study, work, career paths, and other aspects of living. (II) To integrate the elements of lifelong education to curriculum, assessment, and other learning experiences. The setting up of the Career & Life Planning Resource Centre helps students acquire specific knowledge and skills of life planning relevant to their needs at different developmental stages as well as obtain relevant education and career information. (III) A Life Coaching Program is set up. The school teachers take up the coaching role to help HKDSE students set personal goals regarding learning, further studies and career, and to promote life planning. (IV) A school-based apprenticeship programme is set up. Collaborating with different companies, the programme provides students with industry information and opportunities to join as an apprentice, so that students can learn relevant skills and lay a good foundation for future career development.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : The school has devoted much effort to cater for students' diverse needs. The gifted students are nominated to join the Gifted Education Programmes provided by Education Bureau. The school is one of the first few schools invited by the Education Bureau to join the "Train-the trainer" for Gifted Education. The school will provide a series of effective programs to enhance students' multiple intelligences. The school also ensures that a caring culture will be built up. Moreover, the school emphasizes on integrated education. The students with special education needs will be looked after by professionally trained teachers both inside and outside the classroom.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : The school strives to create an inclusive culture by practicing ‘whole school approach’ to support SEN students. Integrated Education Committee, with SEN Coordinator, SEN support teacher and representatives from subject teachers as members, has been set up. The Committee members have regular meetings with educational psychologist, school-based speech therapist and school social workers to ensure the most appropriate support can be provided to students with special educational needs. Our school utilizes both Learning Support Grant and Grant for Supporting Non-Chinese Speaking Students with Special Educational Needs to purchase services, such as attention skills training group and after-school learning support service. After obtaining parental consent, the Committee conducts individual education plans for students with learning or adjustment difficulties. Class teachers and subject teachers also pay special attention to the students in need. Furthermore, there is a regular mechanism in our school to meet parents on Parents’ Days or have individual student meetings, so as to report to parents on the progress and effectiveness of students’ learning after receiving our supportive measures or services. Our school arranges adjustments in every school test and examination. Students will be assisted in applying for similar special examination arrangements when attending public examinations, so as to ensure that the assessments they receive are fair. Through the whole school approach to Integrated Education, SEN students in our school can receive the most comprehensive care.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking(NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; organising cultural integration activities; and hiring additional manpower and/or translation/interpretation services to facilitate the communication with parents.
(4) Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment : We implement diversified and continuous assessment policies, including project learning, classroom performance, academic performance, test and examination. We also conduct detailed data analyses with the Student Data Analysis System for enhancing teaching effectiveness and student learning.
Home-school Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : The school is like a big family. Through joining the Parent Teacher Association, parents can understand the school situations, put forward views and make suggestions on the school policies. Parents have been supporting the school to set up scholarships and always participate in competitions together with students outside school, resulting in a continuous enhancement in the sense of belonging. The school has even set up "Parents and Alumni Resources Centre" to further strengthen the spirit of home-school cooperation.
(2) School Ethos : Love and care is the key characteristic of our school ethos. Our teachers are firm but caring and they pursue positive discipline to let students learn to be self-disciplined. In addition, we emphasize on Class Building and endeavor to create a good atmosphere in class. The school believes that love is one great element which can strongly help students to develop their potential to the full. Teachers and students are "growing" together like a family. The school has been awarded the title of "Loving and Caring School" for 14 consecutive years since the academic year of 2005/06. “Care for Each Person, Excel in Every Lesson” are the goals for our school teachers to cultivate every student to be a self-regulated learner and an outstanding Wahshanian. The school is committed to the pursuit of excellence and will continue to strive for perfection.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan : 1. Continue to promote the implementation of Self-regulated Learning to enhance teaching effectiveness in the classroom.
2. Enhance strategies to cater for Learner Diversity and establish a professional community for teachers.
3. Create opportunities for students’ diverse development to build positive attitudes towards future planning.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : The Staff Professional Development and Appraisal Committee of the school is responsible to plan and implement the professional development programs for teachers. Regular seminars and workshops are held to cater for the school’s development needs. In the past 5 years, the average of our professional development hours for teachers has been exceeding the basic requirement of 50 hours per year. Besides, the following professional educational bodies are our partners in teacher professional training and development:

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : CCC Kwei Wah Shan College has been holding the championship of Grade A Boys Inter-School Basketball Competition (Hong Kong Island Division 1) in the HKSSF since 2008 for 9 years. We are very proud of our athletes' achievements.
In order to nurture our students’ potential in different areas, we have launched the ‘Wahshanian Sports and Cultural Development Project’. Students have the opportunity to join some newly introduced activities, which include body-building, cricket, beatbox and learning the keyboard or guitar for free. It is our hope that our S.1 students are involved in extra-curricular activities as soon as they enter secondary school. As a result, for our S.1 students, we promote a school-based programme called ‘One Sport/Cultural Activity for Each Student’. With this in mind, all S.1 students are required to join the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps, our school also offer different kinds of sport and cultural activities including volleyball, hockey, badminton, archery, dancing, martial arts, guitar or drama for them. In line with the development of Career and Life Planning Education, we also provide ‘Make-up classes’ to cater for students’ different interests.
In short, we aim at providing a broad and balanced extra-curricular curriculum to meet the needs of our students. We trust that with the learning experience gained in ECA, students can learn to be the future leaders of the community.
