School Management
(1)School's Major Concerns : Please refer to the school website for our Annual School Plan.
(2) School Management Organisation : In light of the Bible (Luke 2:52), four committees, namely, Academic Affairs, Discipline & Moral Education, Religious Activities, and Extra-curricular Activities, are formed to develop students in wisdom, in stature, and in favour with God and men. Guidance and Award Scheme Committee is set up to guide students in balanced growth and acknowledge their attainments through the Award Scheme.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : The Incorporated Management Committee, with representatives from school sponsoring body, the community, teachers, parents and alumni, is responsible for the management and development of the school.
(4) School Green Policy : 1. Campus planted with lots of trees and flowers.
2. To promote green school life with the help of Class Association and Student Environmental Protection Ambassadors.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : 1. English as the main medium of instruction (please refer to the subjects offered in 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 for details);
2. To emphasize biliterate and trilingual proficiency.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : 1. To organize a great variety of academic activities;
2. To join a wide range of academic competitions outside the school so as to broaden students’ horizons and enhance peer learning.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: 2X and 3X.
2. Curriculum highlights: We cultivate high-order thinking skills through subject learning.
(4) Development of the Four Key Tasks : 1. Reading to Learn: A wide range of programs, e.g., reading schemes and talks by writers, are organized for the target of language across the curriculum.
2. Information Technology for Interactive Learning: Information technology is effectively applied in learning and teaching.
3. Project Learning: Appropriate amount of projects are assigned to assist learning. Cross-curricular STEM programs are designed for junior forms. We join a great variety of project competitions.
4. Moral and Civic Education: We promote moral and civic education as well as guide students to care about the country and serve the community.
(5) Life Planning Education : Career and life planning activities are organized to cater for the needs of students in all forms to foster an entrepreneurial spirit.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : 1. To motivate students’ participation in academic, moral, religious, and extra-curricular activities through our Carmel Pak U Award Scheme.
2. Enhancements programs for high-achievers and low achievers.
3. To cater for the special needs of students through Student Support Team.
4. To create a caring campus ethos through Student Counsellor Scheme.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : 1. The student support team is composed of the Guidance Master, the SEN Coordinator, Chinese language teacher, Liberal Studies teacher, and teaching assistant.
2. We screen out suspected SEN and refer them to educational psychologist for evaluation.
3 With the Whole School Approach, we encourage class teachers, subject panels and teachers to formulate support measures for SEN, and invite parents, school social workers and educational psychologist to attend case meetings for follow-up work.
4. We recruit teaching assistant to provide support services and purchase professional services like social training group and speech therapy group.
5. We provide special examination arrangements for students with SEN and provide a Summary of Support for Student to parents.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking(NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; and organising cultural integration activities.
(4) Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment : We have suitable amount of tests and examinations to motivate students. Awards are given to students who have attained prescribed standards.
Home-school Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : Parent Teacher Association regularly organizes seminars, workshops, picnics to enhance home-school co-operation.
(2) School Ethos : We set high standards for student discipline. Through clear regulations and strict enforcement, we cultivate in students a self-disciplined and law-abiding spirit. Our students are praised for their decent behaviours and good attitudes.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan : 1. Holding fast to the ideal of Christian whole-person education, we emphasize spiritual formation and aim to infuse virtues and knowledge into students, so they can rectify social evils and contribute to the well-being of society.
2. We cultivate in students a spirit of independent yet communal learning.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : Teachers participate in EDB training courses and school-based staff development activities.
Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : 1. Activities organized by Student Union, Houses and Form Associations.
2. A great variety of academic, civic & moral education, religious, and recreational activities organized by about 40 extra-curricular activities.
Others : 1. HKDSEE 2020, 92.8% of our students met the entrance requirements for Bachelor's degree programmes and 96.4% got offers under JUPAS.
2. Extra-curricular Performance: We actively participate in various academic, sports, and music competitions, in which we won many tops prizes. Major prizes won in the last three years include Bronze Medal in Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up in Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition, Champion in Hong Kong Budding Scientists Award, Champion in The Story of Jao Tsung-I Field Project Competition, the Most Outstanding Secondary School Choir of the Year (Second Division) and in Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, etc.
