Our mission is to promote Confucianism and Confucian teachings, to enlighten people's mind, to promote the solid moral values and culture of our country and to nurture talents of abilities and virtue for the society. We aim to enhance students' academic performance as well as their moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic domains so that students can receive an all-rounded education and healthy growth.

School Facilities : All classrooms, special rooms, school hall, covered playground and student activity centre are equipped with air-conditioning and a wifi system. All classrooms and special rooms are equipped with a multi-media projector, a computer, a visualizer and an infrared audio system. Besides, since the establishment of a new wing in 2004, the school has opened the English learning centre, a 140-seat lecture theatre and campus TV control room. In 2021, there is an indoor sports ground where students can take part in activities without impacts of bad weather. In addition, the newly renovated library shows the Chinese elements of interior design. Study space is added to provide a comfortable decorated self-study and reading environment. In order to promote Chinese culture, garden recreation areas have been decorated with the traditional Chinese utensil Qiqi which symbolizes moderation and the doctrine of the Mean.

Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2023 ).The admission criteria focus not only on applicants' academic performance but also on their conduct. Only those applicants with an average grade B or above for their Chinese, English and Mathematics subjects as well as their conduct grade are considered. The weighting of the admission criteria is as follows: academic performance - 40%, conduct - 25%, extra-curricular activities - 20% and interview - 15%. Generally speaking, all applicants would be offered an interview.
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : To help Secondary One students adapt to secondary school life and develop their self-discipline and problem solving abilities, a Secondary One orientation programme, including a bridging course, a training camp and an orientation day, is held. A Secondary One parents' night is held in September to enhance parent-school communication.
To help students cultivate a healthy life-style, students are encouraged to participate in various activities, e.g. "Student Health Programme” offered by the Department of Health, “Anti-flu Campaign" jointly organized by the school and a non-profit-making organization. The school adopts the Green Lunch Policy so as to provide students with freshly-cooked food served with reusable trays and cutlery, which is also environmentally friendly. In this way our students can have healthier food with better nutritional value while using reusable utensils.

School Management
(1)School's Major Concerns : 1. Cultivating positive values, attitudes and caring school culture.

(2) School Management Organisation : There are the Incorporated Management Committee and School Administration Committee to steer the orientation of school development and formulate school policies; under are the Academic Affairs and Curriculum Development Committee and the Student Affairs Committee to assist the implementation of school policies.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : The Incorporated Management Committee was first established in 2007-2008. It consists of 12 members, including 7 members from the sponsoring body, the Principal, 1 independent member, 1 alumnus, 1 parent and 1 teacher.
(4) School Green Policy : The school continues to promote environmental protection education this year. Major items include the code of use of air conditioning in the classrooms with related power saving measures, source separation for waste recycling and provision of green lunch. Talks and field trips will be also organized to further uplift students’ awareness of environmental protection.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : 1. In S.1 to S.3, the school adopts different mediums of instruction to cater for students’ abilities. In order to increase students’ exposure to the English language and ensure a smooth transition to the senior forms’ curricula, in some classes, Integrated Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology in F.3) and Geography are taught in English while modules of Mathematics, History and Information and Communication Technology are incorporated with extended English learning activities. In other classes, students’ first language is the major medium of instruction, while modules of Mathematics, Integrated Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography and History are incorporated with extended English learning activities. 2. Some of the English lessons of S.1 to S.6 are conducted in small groups to facilitate teacher-student interaction and increase learning efficacy.
3. Both CMI and EMI groups are offered in most elective subjects in senior forms for students to select.
4. Bridging courses are provided for pre-S.1 students.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : The school adopts a diversified, student-oriented teaching mode, attaching much importance to interaction for learning and teaching. The school adopts a timetable of 30-minute periods to allow greater flexibility in the lesson time for various subjects. Also, one afternoon in every two cycles is spared for conducting various extra-curricular activities to enhance students' exposure to various learning experiences.
(3) School-based curriculum : 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Greater flexibility is allowed for students’ selection of electives, and students can have more than 50 combinations of subjects.
2. Curriculum highlights: Various subjects make adjustments to their curriculum and teaching to cater for students' diversity in abilities. For example, under the fine-tuned medium of instruction arrangements, some of S.1 classes adopt the English medium of instruction while the rest have English medium extended learning activities. The school-based teaching materials involved are developed by teachers. English teaching elements are also appropriately incorporated into the various subjects of other levels. Life and Society is offered in the junior form curriculum which emphasizes students' personal growth elements and lets them understand China and the world and so forth. Besides, Chinese Classics is offered as a subject to teach Confucian philosophy and promote Chinese culture.
(4) Development of the Four Key Tasks : 1. Moral and Civic Education: Confucian moral education curriculum and a range of programmes promoting personal and intellectual development during class-teacher periods, morning assemblies, visits, are offered to extend value education;
2. Reading to Learn: A wide range of programmes, e.g., morning reading periods, regular library lessons, reading schemes and talks by writers, are organized for promoting language across the curriculum to enhance the reading atmosphere and cultivate a love of reading in students.
3. Project Learning: Projects are assigned to facilitate learning across the curriculum and enhance problem solving skills, communication and logical thinking skills in our students.
4. The use of IT facilitating interactive learning: Making good use of various IT tools and software programmes to enhance more teacher-and-student interaction and facilitate self-regulated learning. Online classrooms assist students to learn more flexibly and its data help teachers modify teaching strategies to enhance teaching and learning effectiveness.
(5) Life Planning Education : The school plans for the scopes of learning for students in different forms, so that students progress along a ladder of learning to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes related to career education, including respect for others, interpersonal skills, generic skills and the abilities to develop and monitor their personal learning plans. They also learn about ways to obtain information about work and higher education.
The school provides essential hardware related to life planning by, for example, displaying information and resource materials.
What is more, the school provides adequate support in terms of human and financial resources. For instance, the committee which provides study and career guidance comprises life planning guidance teachers, parents, administrators of the school, social workers and professionals outside the school. The school also utilizes resources from NGOs to support the Life Planning Team to develop, implement and manage programmes related to study and career guidance.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : Teachers develop class-based materials and adapt the curriculum through collaborative lesson planning and different assessment methods to accommodate the learning characteristics and abilities of pupils to enhance students’ learning effectiveness.
Diversified learning methods and in-class activities, such as group discussion, presentation, writing, painting, problem-solving tasks and audio materials etc. are adopted to suit our students’ learning needs.
The school implements a “One Sport One Art” programme where students are required to participate in one extra-curricular activity to develop their interest and potential in sports or arts and promote their aesthetic development as well as physical and psychological well-being.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : The Students’ Support Committee comprises a Special Education Needs Coordinator (SEN Co.), six teachers teaching Chinese, Education and Economics, social workers and an educational psychologist. In junior forms, there are English enhancement classes where small-class teaching is adopted to better cater for learner diversity. Meanwhile, the school hires external service providers to conduct Reading and Writing Groups, Integrated Education Mentor Training, language therapy, Aerial Photography Groups and counselling by clinical psychologists, in order to support students with different needs. In addition, seminars for parents are organized to help them understand students’ learning, behavioral, emotional and social characteristics. Life planning guidance is also a focus of the Students’ Support Committee. Students obtain information about study and career through small-group counselling and visits to institutes and workplaces. An educational psychologist provides 20 days of on-sight service to support students, parents and teachers.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking(NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; and organising cultural integration activities.
(4) Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment : Apart from daily assessments, there are three Examinations in a year. Students are tested by a range of formats, such as written and spoken assignments, experiments or artwork creation so that teachers may master the learning progress of students and enhance their learning effectiveness.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : The Parent-Teacher Association was established in 1992. It aims to enhance communication between parents and the school so as to enhance students' academic and moral development through the joint effort of the two parties. The Association sets up scholarship and funds for activities to support the school's educational development and improve students’ welfare. Besides, the Association organizes parent education activities, so that parents can share their ideas in mentoring their children. It also organizes parent-child activities for building a closer relationship between parents and their children, as well as to promote a sense of belonging towards the school among students and parents.
(2) School Ethos : The school attaches much importance to students' good conduct; our school encourage and motivate students to develop other learning experiences. Non-academic Performance Score system was established to reinforce and award students' good behaviour and service performance. A diversity of extra-curricular activities is held to encourage students to participate in community activities and serve the society. The Student Support Team provides various kinds of services for integrated education and provide students in need with tailored support. Besides, there are Ho Yiu-kwong Scholarship and Grant, Parent-teacher Association Scholarship and Chinese Classics Award, etc., to encourage students with good performance in various aspects.

(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : To conduct for teachers related seminars and workshops every year to support the school's overall development, to implement related training programmes in collaboration with various professional organizations; each teacher has to complete a certain number of hours of self-enhancement activities each year to better adapt to the progress of education reform.
Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.) : There are almost forty extra-curricular activities, including service groups, interest groups, art groups and sport teams; various subjects also conduct local and overseas visits and other learning activities.
Others : 1. The school carries out a range of cross-curricular functions to allow students to apply the knowledge in various situations.
2. Various inbound and outbound study tours are organized. Financial aids are provided to students, allowing them to have more exploration.
3. Academic scholarships are set up, particularly ‘He Yaoguang Fund for Needy’, which supports students with financial difficulties.
4. Reading lessons are implemented in all forms aiming to strengthen students’ reading skills and depth.
5. Our school excels in various ball teams, particularly handball, volleyball and basketball, having achieved awards and recognition in territory-wide competitions.

Remarks : (i) Our school has been following a bilingual policy, introducing the extended English teaching activities and related assessments into parts of the subjects of the junior curriculum, included Mathematics, Integrated Science and Geography, Computer Literacy, History, Physics, Biology, Chemistry.
(ii) Two periods for every two cycles would be spared for students to join various activities both inside and outside school so as to enrich students' other learning experiences.
