Adhering to the mission of Pok Oi Hospital to ‘Love, Care and Serve’ the community as well as our school motto to help our students grow as people of great erudition and virtues, we are committed to providing them with an all-round education in a harmonious learning environment. Besides the school hall, we have many special rooms for different purposes, such as I Love Music Room (with recording studio and band practice room), Dream Room (Career and Life Planning Centre), STEM & Aviation Centre (equipped with Helicopter simulator and Fixed-wing simulator), Environment Discovery Centre, the Computer Room, Library, English Corner, Café Géographie (equipped with facilities for students to learn latte art), Student Activity Room, Counseling Room, Medical Room, Conference Room and Resource Centre for Parents. To create a beautiful and comfortable learning environment, we also create a green campus with lots of trees and flowers are planted. |

In order to transform P.O.H. 80th Anniversary Tang Ying Hei College into a GREEN school, our school is equipped with various energy-saving apparatus and also takes different environmental protection measures. |
| Learning and Teaching Plan | ||
| (1) Whole-school Language Policy | : | Principle: Under the policy of promoting 'mother-tongue teaching' and achieving 'bilingual proficiency' as well as adopting STEM education, students starting from junior form levels are exposed to ample opportunities to practise and use English so as to enhance their ability to learn in English and to equip them for further study and work. To enhance English learning environment, in some lesson time in Integrated Science and Home Economics, F.1 students will have chances to engage in extended learning activities conducted in English while English is adopted as the MOI in Mathematics. Measures: 1. Introducing a series of activities to enrich English learning environment: English Morning Assembly, English lunchtime activities, English Ambassador Scheme and English Drama Club. Students are encouraged to participate in various English competitions. To increase interactive learning opportunities between students, English Corner as an activity centre and a self-accessed English learning centre is equipped with multiple tablets and various e-learning packages are used; 2. Hiring of Native English Teachers to strengthen students' communication skills; 3. Implementing a range of after-school learning support programmes. |
| (2) Learning and Teaching Strategies | : | We aim at creating a warm and excellent learning environment for our students so as to cultivate positive values and the right learning attitude in them. In order to make the learning process more student-centered, our lessons involve interactions and group activities to cater for individual learning needs. We also provide a lot of learning skills trainings for our students through utilizing information technology and facilitating students to produce projects for different learning topics. Through these activities, students' multiple intelligence can be developed. School-based curriculum is introduced to give support to academically gifted/underprivileged students and to cater for learning differences. Students are encouraged, with the help of information technology, to deliver presentations and to engage in project work on specific themes. Gifted Education Committee is set up so as to provide school-based courses for students with outstanding academic performance. In addition, visit tours and joint-school exchange programmes will be arranged to top talents in order to broaden their horizons. Emphasis is put on cultivating students' reading habit and creativity, and motivating their initiative in learning. To broaden students' scope and depth of knowledge, multiple Reading Schemes are implemented: Reading Lesson in junior forms cultivating students' habit in reading books, newspapers and journals in both Chinese and English; Training of reading skills in accordance with the Chinese and English curricula; 'Reading Star' scheme; Book recommendation in morning assembly; participate in 'Popular Reading Award Scheme'; invite well-known authors to give speeches; organize book exhibition on special themes and so on. STEM education not only cultivates student’ interest in Science, Technology and Mathematics, but also strengthens their ability to integrate and apply knowledge and skills across different STEM disciplines. Through practical learning experience using advanced technologies such as programming, AI and IOT, students’ creativity, collaboration and problem solving skills can be nurtured so that they can become lifelong learners in STEM. |

Curriculum highlights: (1) Provide students with a variety of subject choices, including Elective subjects and modules, to cater for their differences in learning interests, abilities and needs; (2) Help students build a strong knowledge base to prepare them for future studies; (3) Develop lifelong learning skills, positive values and attitudes to meet the needs of the current society; (4) Strengthen assessment for learning in order to achieve the goal of lifelong learning; (5) Bridging between the junior and senior curricula. |
| (4) Development of the Four Key Tasks | : | By incorporating the Four Key Tasks within and across the teaching and learning in the Key Learning Areas, our school aims to facilitate students' capabilities to construct knowledge, develop their generic skills and help them cultivate positive values and attitudes. |
| (5) Life Planning Education | : | 1. Adhering to the concepts of ‘student-oriented, multiple talents, diversified pathways’, our school aims to help our students develop a positive outlook on life and decision-making ability through a series of life planning courses and activities, so that they can be responsible for their own life planning and realise their future life plans. We also take the 5P concept of ‘Invitational Education’ as a reference to formulate a blueprint for students’ life planning development by establishing priorities for development in every school year and incorporating with a diversified life planning development plan. 2. We promote a whole-school approach in life planning education, cross-curriculum, executive departments and class building. 3. To promoting individualized career planning, teachers’ guidance and students’ reflection are emphasized. 4. We aim at nurturing the cognition of career planning and create different opportunities for career planning activities. A leadership team – Career Planning Ambassadors will be organized so as to help students develop their potential and set targets to prepare for their future. |

| (2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education | : | Our school is dedicated in advocating Inclusive Education and we adopt a Whole-school Approach to cater for learner diversity. Through the use of various grants and resources, we provide diversified support to help students achieve better academic results and enjoy a happy school life. To cater for the different needs of our students, we offer a wide range of support programmes, including a school-based Dyslexia Program and social skills training group conducted by our teachers, the implementation of the Individual Education Plans (IEP) which are monitored by our Educational Psychologist. There are also Speech Training sessions and special examination accommodation measures. |
| (3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking(NCS) Students | : | Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; organising cultural integration activities; and hiring additional manpower and/or translation/interpretation services to facilitate the communication with parents. |

| (1) Home-School Co-operation | : | To promote home-school co-operation, our school established the Parent-Teacher Association, which regularly holds meetings between parents and teachers and organizes family activities, education programmes and workshops to enhance home-school relationships. With parental involvement, it is hoped that parents and teachers could work together to nurture our younger generations and raise their holistic achievement. |

We follow Pok Oi Hospital's motto 'We Love, We Care, We Serve' to nurture our students, with emphasis on simplicity and elegance as our school ethos, to establish a caring school, and to foster high-quality citizens. 2. We promote invitational education. Through the factors of people, places, policies, programs and processes, students' values of "care", "optimism", "respect" and "trust" can be cultivated. 3. We adopt 'Two Form-Teachers Policy' to give more love and care to students and to provide diversified class-based activities. 4. Through school curriculum like Life Education, we systematically plan the morning assembly and weekly assembly sessions throughout the year to provide a wide range of moral and civic education activities and sharing as a platform for spiritual exchange between teachers and students. 5. | (2) Teacher Professional Training and Development | : | Our school values teachers' quality and their professional development and aims at establishing a professional learning community. In recent years, we have promoted ‘‘Invitational Education’ and developed a universal potential education and elite education with the framework of Hong Kong gifted education development. Through active participation in training, sharing, regular meetings and collaboration periods, teachers will share their successful development experiences. We will plan strategically and incorporate the ideas of ‘Invitational Education’ into teacher training activities in order to build an excellent team of teachers who share the educational philosophy to 'guide students to success'. |
| Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.) | : | 1. Life-Wide Learning Day We organise "Life-Wide Learning Day" to integrate essential growth and learning elements so as to meet students' needs according to their form levels. For instance, we organise overseas visit and tours, project learning, leadership training and volunteer services to enhance students’ confidence, broaden their vision and nurture them to be more socially responsible. At last we hope our students’ initiatives and commitment to face challenges can be boosted. 2. | Others | : | In 2017, our school has obtained ‘Inviting School Award’ from International Alliance for Invitational Education. In 2019, we were awarded Inviting School Fidelity Award. This year (2021), our school was once again honoured with ‘Inviting School 2nd Silver Fidelity Award’. In order to broaden students’ horizons, our school organizes overseas exchange tours every year to provide students with opportunities to explore and exchange with local students and organizations. In the past, we have hosted exchange tours to England, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Beijing, Shanghai and Xi’an. (Students who have financial needs could apply for Rainbow Funds if they wish to join any exchange or study tours.) Our school has outstanding performances in various inter-school competitions. In Chinese language, our students have won prizes in writing competitions. Also, our students have distinguished achievement in performing such as speech and drama. Our students have awarded a large number of merit certificates and prizes in both Chinese and English entries of the School Speech Festival. In Hong Kong School Drama Festival, our students have obtained ‘Award for Outstanding Performer’, ‘Award for Outstanding Audio-visual Effects’ and ‘Award For Outstanding Cooperation’ (English group). As for Sports, we have acquired many awards in tracks and fields events. Our students have got lots of awards in various sports competitions such as judo and short track speed skating. Besides, in music and visual art aspect, our students are actively involved in activities and performances, and have shown their talents in many competitions. |
