Pooi Tun Secondary School is committed to providing quality education to nurture students to become confident and self-motivated lifelong learners with positive values to life. School Facilities : - Air-conditioning and internet network are installed in the auditorium, 24 classrooms, 14 special rooms, STEM Innovative Lab, Quality learning hub, DT room, VA room, HE room, Music room, English room, students' activity room and laboratories throughout the school.

- To promote the use of information technology, all classrooms and special rooms are equipped with advanced and comprehensive support facilities such as Fiber-Optic broadband, Wi-Fi facilities, infrared wireless microphone system, LCD projectors, visualizers and computers.

- Our school provides more than 200 tablet computers allowing all students to learn interactively with the aids of the gadgets at the same time. Students' self-learning is encouraged with the installation of Visual Desktop Infrastructure among all computers in the classrooms and library.

Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2023 ).Admission criteria and weightings for S1 discretionary places:Academic potential and learning attitude 50%, Conduct 20%, Potential and achievement in both Physical and Artistic development (including music, art and sports, etc.) 15%,Performance in Interviews (including proficiency in Chinese and English) 15%.
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : Every year, we facilitate S.1 students' adaptation by a series of S.1 Bridging Programs. The programs ranging from Adventure Training, Self-access Learning Program, Chinese, English, Mathematics and Science Course, IT Learning Class and life education programs. We also hold a Pre-S1 students Parents Sharing Night for better communication with parents. We endeavor to foster in our students a healthy lifestyle by including Life Education as curriculum. The course covers topics like Personal Growth, Sex Education, Food and Nutrition as well as Consumer Education. We constantly organize talks and workshops on Healthy Life Style which are hosted by professional social workers, nurses and nutritionists. Through Physical Education and Co-curricular Activities, students’ potential can be unleashed.

(2) School Management Organisation : - The School Incorporated Management Committee was established in 2009, including representatives from Parents, Alumni, Teachers and our sponsoring body for the sustainable development of school.
- "Whole-school distributed leadership" is employed and different committees according to the needs of students are set up. All education professionals can have their supports and leadership unleashed in different areas.
- Both top-down and bottom-up appraisal system are employed to ensure and enhance the effectiveness of school management.

(4) School Green Policy : - Environmental-friendly policy is always emphasized in our campus.
- Various kinds of environmental-friendly strategies such as Firefly Museum, Pooi Tun Gardening Clubs and Green House are set up to arouse students awareness of environmental protection.
- Environmental Protection Ambassador team is set up to cultivate positive environmental-friendly atmosphere among peers.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : - We aims at nurturing our students to be Bi-literate and Tri-lingual. Favorable language learning environment is cultivated by local and overseas experiential activities.

- Medium of instruction:
Mathematics and Science subjects are mainly conducted in English while PSHE subjects are mainly in Chinese.
As the subject nature and terminology of Science and Mathematics are mostly in English, using English to teach these subjects can keep our students abreast of the international trend and enable students’ further studies and career, whereas most of the teaching and learning materials of PSHE subject are in Chinese to enhance students’ interest and motivation.

- School-based curriculum and enhancement measures such as after-school tutorials by NET and English team to cater the learning diversities of students in learning English.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : - Learning and Teaching Coordination Committee is set up to review and optimize teaching and learning strategies regularly.

- Our curriculum emphasizes integrating academic elements into daily experiences. Multi-facet learning experiences are arranged to enhance students' self-motivation, understanding, creativity and personality development.

- "Learning Beyond" period is set up for organizing diversified programs. Academic elements are integrated into students' life experiences through interesting learning experience such as drama and cultural exchange programs. Also, "Learning to Learn" courses are included in F.1 and F.2 curriculum to help students equip generic learning skills and build up learning routine.

- E-learning platforms and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy are introduced to promote self-regulated learning.
(3) School-based curriculum : 1. Electives: 2X. Students can choose their elective subjects according to their interest and abilities. 10 electives from Arts, Science and Business streams are available for students' selection.
2. Curriculum highlights: School-based curriculum for Chinese, English and Religious and Life Education to cater the learning diversity and facilitate students' learning.
(4) Development of the Four Key Tasks : Life Education: The school emphasis Life Education through exemplary conduct, proper attitudes and positive values. Through our renowned and award-winning life education program, we facilitate students equip communication and interpersonal skills to promote harmony, mutual respect, appreciation and peace.
(5) Life Planning Education : We provide a variety of career guidance, training and workshops to enhance students’ awareness of their career planning. We are dedicated to provide students support to plan and start their career exploration early with the form-based life planning strategies such as "Career Cafe" and "Date with Dream" Program.

(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : We strive hard to build a campus with love, care and support for all students. With an established counseling system, both individual and whole school guidance services are offered to help students to build up their self-confidence and overcome challenges and adversity.

- With an established counseling and guidance system, we offer ongoing individual support to assist students with special needs.
- With concerted endeavors of colleagues, the Education Psychologists and Speech Therapists, comprehensive assistance is provided for all students in need.
- Staff development program regarding pastoral supports are regularly provided for colleagues to enhance their understanding and supporting techniques to students.
- Close Parent-school relationship enabling interaction with parents and students.
(4) Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment : Continual and diversified assessment is adopted in our assessment system. With participation in international and local assessment and examinations, students are able to broaden their horizons and understand their capacity.

(1) Home-School Co-operation : Our Parent-teacher Association has been established since 1999 and is responsible for scholarship establishment, parent education, student activity sponsorship and participation in school policy making.

Future Development
(1) School Development Plan : - Our school strives for excellence for both Life Education and academic achievement.
- Dual class teachers are arranged in most classes with form representatives to establish a supportive learning environment with mutual respect and appreciation and promote positive class atmosphere.
- LED ambassador scheme are well established in every class to help students develop leadership skills and foster love and care among the campus.
- School- based curriculum in both Chinese and English to encourage students to develop their language proficiency.
- STEM-learning are implemented to cater for learning diversity. We aims to facilitate students to instill a thirst for knowledge, develop strategies for effective learning and pave way for academic achievement by E-learning.
- Our school continues to join different programs such as CLAP by CUHK and QEF by EDB to provide more opportunities for students to have a life planning. Alumni-mentoring program is organized by life planning unit with Alumni to provide support and career guidance to students and learn from outstanding Alumni.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : - To facilitate sharing among peers, regular teacher-sharing sessions and development programmes are held each year.
- For professional development, our school has carried out the Peer Observation and Assessment on teaching during the past few years.
- Our colleagues participated actively in professional educational organizations such as EDB, HKEAA examiners and Professional Teachers' Union, which helps our colleagues update the latest educational trends.
- We are always be invited by EDB and other educationalists to share our experience in educational professional development.
Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.) : - Multi-facet co-curricular activities are provided to promote all-round education.

- More than 50 clubs, teams and interest groups including social service, academic, arts, physical education and uniform teams are available for students' participation to enrich students' school life.

- Leaders of House and Students Association are voted by students peers to nourish students' attitudes of serving others and leadership.

- Making good use of external resources such as leadership training, service-learning and local and overseas exchanges to widen students' horizons and learn by experiential learning.

Remarks : Our school provides different Senior Secondary Applied Learning Courses for students to enrich their learning such as Aviation Studies, Animation & Design, Film & Media, Child Care and Education, Food and Beverage Operations, Fundamental Cosmetology, Hospitality Services in Practice, Image Design, Dance and Drama, Western Cuisine.
