Orientation Activities and Healthy Life | : | To welcome our S.1 intake, we set up S.1 Students' Orientation Day, Summer Holiday English Bridging Courses and Seminar for Parents. The School emphasizes promoting a healthy green campus and fostering healthy lifestyles. We have recently been funded 1.4 million dollars from the Environment and Conservation Fund for implementing On-site Portioned Meal service so as to promote healthy eating culture and Green Lunch. Learning and Teaching Plan | ||
(1) Whole-school Language Policy | : | The school aims to foster students' bi-literacy and tri-lingualism. English-medium extended learning activities have been introduced in different subjects in junior forms. Various English activities have been arranged and sprinkled over the year and a NET teacher is responsible for classroom teaching. Various language rich activities and enrichment programs are organised to promote English learning environment. Putonghua is a compulsory subject. In order to enhance students’ interests in learning languages, English Morning Assembly, English lunch & after school programs, English and Chinese Debate Competition, Writing to newspapers, Writing contests, Chinese and English writing corpuses, School Newsletter, Chinese and English extensive reading schemes, reading awards, self-access online Chinese and English reading programmes and Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival, holiday enhancement courses have been introduced to students. |
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies | : | The school treasures pleasurable and interactive learning. E-Learning & STEAM Education are highlighted. Students are equipped with learning skills. Students' active learning attitude and critical thinking are enhanced through group discussions and presentations. Small-group tutorials and holiday enrichment courses and regular assessments help to enhance the effectiveness of learning. Visits, Field trips and exchange programmes have been organised for students to broaden their outlook, improve their communication capabilities and foster their self-management skills. To improve the effectiveness of learning and teaching, collaboration periods, lesson observations, team teaching have also been implemented. |
(3) School-based curriculum | : | 1. Electives: 3X. 2. Curriculum highlights: The school curriculum unfurled with diversity, embracing the eight key learning areas to broaden students' horizons and develop various abilities and generic skills. In junior forms, the medium of instruction of some of the lesson time of several subjects will be changed to English so as to enhance students' English proficiency. Citizenship, Economics and Society & Life and Society is a compulsory subject collaborating with World History, Chinese History, Geography and Moral Education for coordinating with the Senior Secondary Education System and improving students' skills in project learning. School-based curriculum focusing on the enhancement of schemes and coordination with the Senior Secondary Education System with the aim to improve the effectiveness of learning and teaching. |
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum | : | (1) Learning from reading: To foster students' reading habit and broaden their outlook, and interactive E-Reading Kiosk is installed, various activities including silent reading session, reading awards, new books exhibitions, subject-based reading activities and writing contests, students’ presentations during morning assemblies, Chinese reading sharing sessions, self-access online Chinese and English reading programmes, Chinese and English corpuses and School Newsletter are promoted. (2) Interactive e-Learning: Funded by wifi 900, the school purchased tablet PCs to supplement teaching. Funded by IT Innovation Lab in Secondary school, different courses are organised to enhance the information literacy of students including coding skills. The school premises are serviced by full internet coverage with STEM room & two computer rooms which provide convenience to students for searching information needed in projects and accessing the online learning programmes. Most of the classrooms are equipped with projectors, computers and visualizers. S.1-4 classrooms are equipped with the Interactive Whiteboard. A Flight simulator is set up for interactive learning. (3) Project learning: The school offers 'Project learning' in Secondary Three Life and Society. Students are studying in groups with the guidance of teachers. Outstanding projects will be recommended for inter-school competitions. Other forms and subjects are organizing cross-subject projects as assignments to enhance students' generic skills. (4) Moral and Civic Education: Discipline, Counselling, Civic Education, Social Studies and Moral Education are given full attention. Morning assemblies, weekly assemblies, moral education seminars, group counseling and class teacher periods are offered to students. Together with the tailor-made materials, students' counseling activities, voluntary work, community services training programmes, Flag-raising ceremony, Blood Donation Day, Enhanced Smart Teen Project and leadership camp, students are encouraged to develop positive attitudes and values. |
(5) Life Planning Education | : | In order to help our students to prepare for their future studies and careers, the school helps them to discover their own interests, abilities and talents through varied individual evaluation tools. Different activities and workshops such as Dream Seekers Programme, Mentorship Programme, Education seminars and Career-related seminars were organized to equip students with necessary skills. |

(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity | : | Regular tests reinforce learning and help locate students who need additional assistance. Adjustment of the curriculum and teaching methods and supportive measures after school and during school holidays lend effective help to fruitful learning. |
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education | : | Our school adopts a whole school approach to promote integrated education. In order to nurture students’ potentials and build self-confidence, we offer individualized support such as training on social skills, expressive arts activities and interest groups. Remedial learning groups and assessment accommodation are implemented to raise students’ learning efficacy. To enhance communication between teachers and parents, regular meetings and discussions are held to solicit parents’ views on student progress. |
(4) Measures to provide adaptation for learning and assessment | : | The assessment of students' progress is characterized by regular diagnostic evaluations and follow-ups. The academic year is divided into two terms ended with an examination. Continuous assessment is practised. Assessment methods include oral presentations, various kinds of exercises and even activities, apart from tests and examinations. |
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos | ||
(1) Home-School Co-operation | : | With warm support from parents, our school has won the honour of Meritable School in the Parents Respect Teachers Campaign for ten consecutive years. |
(2) School Ethos | : | Our students are notably well-behaved. Notwithstanding, our school still places very strong emphasis on Discipline and Counseling. We have adopted a Whole School Approach, appointing all teachers to be class teachers. We integrate Discipline, Counseling, Voluntary Services, Civic Education, Social Studies and Moral Education into an entity. In Moral Education, messages are put across in morning assemblies, class teachers' time, seminars, small group sessions, weekly assemblies, the materials and activities devised by our teachers in Moral Education sessions. An award scheme has been introduced to encourage excellent performance in conduct, study, services and activities. |

It is vital to help teachers to enhance skills in various aspects including learning & teaching skills, so as to give professional support to students' development. Teachers are encouraged to take an active role in various training programmes. |
Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.) | : | The Student Union, four Houses and more than fifty clubs and societies provided activities in different areas, including academic, sports, interest pursuits, uniform groups, services, arts and music. Participation in inter-school competition is encouraged. |
Others | : | Our students have won numerous awards in various academic competitions. In terms of international joint school subject assessment and competition, 8 students won an honorable mention in mathematics, 1 student won Senior honorary awards and 1 student won an honorable mention in science. One-third of our junior students received gold, silver and bronze awards in the junior Secondary Science Online Self-Learning Scheme 2023. Our students won the champion, the Best Speaker Award, and the Best Think Tank Award in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Debating Competition 2022/23 (Chinese Secondary Schools). 3 students received the Harvard Book Prize, 1 student acquired the Princeton Club of HK Book Award, and 2 students won the Brown University Book Prize. One of our Form 5 students was selected to participate in the summer English learning camp at Temple University in the United States to experience American study life. Various Writing Awards are granted. Under the guidance of our teachers, our students always strive for the best to achieve their goals and the results were gratifying. Our students showed their brilliance in different fields. The OM Team proudly represented Hong Kong to participate in the World Tournament of the Odyssey of the Mind 2023. Our Form 3 student represented Hong Kong in the Rope Skipping World Championships held in Colorado, USA, and was awarded second runner-up in the Single Rope team freestyles. Our Form 3 student ranks 13th Place in the 17th World Xiang Qi Championship. Our Form 5 student won the championship in the LTCL piano performance diploma, and a Form 4 student won the Silver Award at the International Youth Talent Musician Competition (Guzheng Group). Our Form 3 student received the 22nd Sai Kung District Top 10 Outstanding Student Award. The student’s performance in Leadership, Sports and Aesthetic aspects has improved and is worthy of commendation. |
