School Facilities : Our school features a "Y2K-design", with school size 30-40% larger than average. We have 31 classrooms, 16 special rooms including Modern Languages Rooms, Dancing Room, Assembly Hall, STEAM Lab and Gym Room as well as 60m all-weathered tracks, a long jump sandpit and sports climbing wall. We provide sufficient room for activities and relaxation. To cope with the School Development, the School built an extension block including a 5-lane 25m indoor heated swimming pool, a 7m high multi-purpose hall, 6 standard size classrooms and 3 small tutorial rooms, providing more space for activities. Upon the inauguration of the New Wing, the learning and teaching resources and capacity have been significantly elevated about 20%, not to mention the flexibility to arrange different kinds of other learning experiences and activities. Students can participate in little farmers' programme at the "Green Corner" and "Aquaponics" to help creating enjoyable greenery for other schoolmates, nurturing green education. Our School has installed split-type air-conditioners, 10Gbps broadband services and equipped with advanced communicative and Information Technological facilities for educational purposes such as Interactive Displays and mobile devices.

(2) School Management Organisation : Our school is a DSS school and enjoys flexibility in curriculum, admission and finance granted by the government, we adopt a modernized approach in managing the school.

(4) School Green Policy : The School plays an active role in promoting the importance of environmental protection and the inter-relation between human and the nature to the students by organising a range of activities by subjects or teams, such as creative waste recycling handicrafts competition, bulletin board exhibition, school uniforms recycling programme and paper-recycling activities. An Aquaponics Corner displays a balanced and cycled nature, promoting the importance of substainibility. Students also learn planting through ‘One Student One Plant’ Scheme co-organized by Values Education and Gardening Club and Hydroponic/organic farming. Through these activities, students can learn how to take the concept of being environmentally friendly into practice and how a simple little thing done by oneself could make a difference.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : Our school aims to train students to be triliterate and quardrilingual. English is the medium of instruction for all subjects, except Chinese, Adapted Chinese (NCS), Chinese as a Second Language (NCS), Chinese History and Life Value Education (for local students). 10-12 NETs teachers provide a rich English Learning Environment and enhance students' English ability in different aspects. Chinese is taught by using Putonghua/Cantonese. For new S.1 students, they must choose from French, German, Japanese or Spanish. Students are encouraged to participate in English or Modern Languages Study Tours to use the languages learnt in authentic situation.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : Our School was assessed to have had significant progress academically for two years among more than 400 Secondary Schools in Hong Kong. Through activities and interactive teaching, we endeavour to promote students' ability of self-learning. We pay special attention to develop students' critical thinking and creativity with reference to students' life experiences and a diversified method of teaching. Our students are nurtured with an ability of independent learning and problem-solving skills.
(3) School-based curriculum : 1. Electives: 3X. Our school has set up 3 electives (i.e. 3X) for students' choices 2023/24. Students can choose from 18 electives offered.
2. Curriculum highlights: Throughout our school-based curriculum and integration of different learning methods, our students build up good learning habits in the early stage and make progressive achievements with the ample time allowed. Life Value Education and Modern Languages are using school-based curriculum which focus on students' need to know; preparing students for life and to attain internationally recognized qualification in different languages.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum : Reading to learn: Students are encouraged to join the school-based reading award scheme to widen their scope of learning;

I.T. for interactive learning: The School kicked-off the implementation in phases of the "1:1 Device" programme in 2014/15, aiming to boost the teaching and learning effectiveness and to keep pace with the rapid development of e-learning in the 21st Century. The School is fully equipped with the state-of-the-art hardware, such as interactive displays, teaching and learnsing software, broadband optical fibres with speed of 10Gbps, as well as the STEAM Lab which enhance the students' self-learning, creativity and innovation effectively;

Project Learning: students' ability to be cooperative & skills of self-learning, collaborating, communication can be developed through the cross-curriculum project learning;

Moral and Civic Education: Daily & Weekly Assemblies, Life Value Education, civic education and social services build up students' sense of responsibility, perseverance, and positive attitude to enable them to face the challenges of the 21st Century.
(5) Life Planning Education : Elements of Careers and Life Planning are incorporated into extra-curricular activities and other learning experiences in Junior Secondary levels, e.g. visiting different organizations, getting to know about different occupations and the work duties. Students are nurtured to get hold of concepts on careers and life planning and start their own planning, through workshops, S.3 subject selection talk and aptitude test, students are allowed to follow their own interests and abilities for making right choices on subjects. For Senior Secondary, various activities are provided to students to help them set their goals and plan their career path, such as games, talks, visits to universities and different faculties as well as "Job Shadowing" programme to test the waters of a job through the apprenticeship. The ultimate goal is to pave the way for students to gain admission to local and overseas universities and to set goals for their professional careers.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : We organise annual activities and programmes, such as "L.E.A.D.E.R.S. in Action ─ Fly Over the Rainbow" training programme, student development activities and Life GPS programme. We work in accordance with the EDB policy to provide suitable assistance and guidance for gifted students and low-ability students.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : The school adopts a whole-school approach with a student support team (SEN and Gifted), which consists of trained teachers, social workers, and close collaboration with psychologists. This team utilizes additional resources (Learning Support Grant, Grant for Supporting Non-Chinese Speaking Students with Special Educational Needs) to provide assessment accommodations, counseling, and training to students with special educational needs (SEN).
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school. Our school uses Putonghua to teach Chinese in certain classes / groups at all levels with extra support as appropriate, e.g. pull-out/small-group classes, learning resources with Pinyin, etc.
(4) Measures to provide adaptation for learning and assessment : We have a diversified assessment for students' learning and each subject has its own assessment criteria. Students have one examination in each term, the purpose of which is to provide teachers with an effective means to assess students' learning.
(5) Fee Remission : Our school offers full school fee remission or 1/2 school fee remission. Needy students, including those from families receiving the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) and students receiving financial assistance provided by the Student Financial Assistance Agency (SFAA) could apply for fee remission. Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : * Communication between school and parents is the key to success for the growth of our children.
* Organise 1-2 Parent-Teacher Sessions each year which enhance the sharing between parents and teachers regarding students' performance at home and school.
* Effectiveness of education through cooperation between parents & teachers; mutual concern to raise academic & non-academic performance of students.
* Promoting parent education.
* Each parent is automatically a member of the PTA.
(2) School Ethos : Our school ethos focuses on purity and simplicity. We adopt a two-fold disciplinary and counselling approach to deal with students' emotional and behavioral matters, enabling students to be resilient in the face of difficulties and challenges in life. Our counselling teachers in each level take care of students' whole-person development in line with our school culture "Positive-thinking School, Positive-thinking Life". Furthermore, a dual Class Teachers system is carried out in all classes, so that teachers will have more time to take care of students.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan : 1. To strengthen English teaching and learning with the practice of small-class teaching, through which teacher-student ratio is reduced and teaching effectiveness enhanced;
2. To develop students' positive thinking, to strengthen social ethics and civil awareness in students;
3. To promote "learning to learn" as the principle of teaching in all subjects;
4. Enhance the learning of Modern Languages (French, German, Japanese, Spanish);
5. To promote whole-person development and to develop students' talents and potential.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : We encourage our teaching staff to continue their professional development in various forms for at least 150 hours in 3 years.
Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.) : Our School endeavours to support and nurture students’ all-rounded development. We put strong emphasis not only on the academic performances but also the other learning experiences. We have organized more than 30 interest clubs/groups. Our Secondary Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Teams were promoted to Division I of the Inter-school Athletics Championships within a few years’ time. It marked us as one of the top 16 and 12 schools respectively in the athletics field in Hong Kong. We have won many prizes in the Hong Kong Schools Chinese, English, French and Japanese Speech Festivals, the Schools Dance Festival, the Music Festival, the Drama Festival as well as other competitions. Students can be benefited from the activities; their confidence will be strengthened and they will be motivated by the significant results. Our students are especially talented in dancing. For 2 consecutive years in the past, they won the overall Championship of the Chinese dance (Sec.) at the Hong Kong Schools Dance Festival.
Others : SCHOOL CHARACTERISTICS: A government-built "Y2K-design" school premises in Shamshuipo was allocated to our school by the former EMB. Since September, 2003, our school has been the first in H.K. to operate in the same school premises a "through-train" mode from P.1 to S.6.
(1) Our School has been assessed to have had significant progress academically twice consecutively by the former Ed. Dept. among all secondary schools in H.K.
(2) The most outstanding student's HKDSE result is 4 subjects level 5** and 4 subjects level 5* (including M2).
(3) Specially-designed curriculum in Life Value Education cultivates our students' value judgment, positive thinking, emotional stability, communication skills and life skills.
(4) Our School works in close partnership with parents to bring about the best future for our students.
(5) Emphasis is put on enhancing students' language ability. For the past 2 years, the school subsidized over HK$300,000 for students' English, French, German, Japanese & Spanish Study Tours to Australia, the UK, France, Germany, Japan, Spain and Morocco.
(6) The School is fully-equipped to use information technology in learning and teaching. Students will be able to master computer knowledge in self-learning.
(7) The School emphasizes the provision of a balanced education leading to moral, cognitive, physical, social, aesthetic and spiritual growth. The programme 'One Sport and One Art for One Student' in our school is designed to develop students' potential and self-confidence.
(8) Scholarships and Awards are provided for the outstanding students to reinforce their significant performances in academic, sport and art areas. Enhancement classes are provided for students who are academically weak, whereas enrichment activities are arranged for students with good academic results. Tutorials are provided for students to help them to prepare for the public examinations.
