Orientation Activities and Healthy Life | : | The scheduled Orientation Day, Orientation Camp and English Bridging Course are held. The school places special emphasis on the physical, mental and spiritual health of all our students. Student fellowships, assemblies and form-teacher classes are key platforms through which to convey the need for a healthy living style. (2) School Management Organisation | : | The composition of our Incorporated Management Committee (IMC) involves the Supervisor, sponsoring body managers, the principal of the school, teacher managers, parent managers, alumni managers and an independent manager, a total of 18 members. At least 4 meetings are held annually to examine and discuss proposals to foster school development. In addition, the IMC members are arranged to take part in activities to establish communication with the staff. |

Learning and Teaching Plan | ||
(1) Whole-school Language Policy | : | Our school emphasizes the promotion of students’ biliterate and trilingual abilities, in particular achieving excellence in both English and Chinese languages. We provide different opportunities to cater for the diverse language needs and abilities of our students. English is adopted as the medium of instruction in some non-language subjects in some classes, as total immersion, to pave the way for students to the Senior Secondary Curriculum and to future studies. In the same way, Chinese is adopted as the medium of instruction to students who benefit most from it while extended learning activities are added to stretch their English potential. To enrich every student’s exposure to English, there are various fun-filled activities to cultivate a language rich environment and a Drama-in-Education junior curriculum has been implemented to promote students’ interests to learn English in an experiential and creative manner. |
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies | : | 1. We endeavour to cultivate reading habits in our students, conducive to their life-long learning. There are a wide variety of reading activities such as Reading Periods, Book Displays, Reading Award Schemes, Book Sharing Activities from writers, students and teachers, Best Book Recommendations, The Readers Club, and The On-line Reading Platform to promote the reading culture. 2. STEM education is promoted to nurture students' creativity and problem-solving skills. 3. Different subjects adopt the Inquiry Approach, Cooperate Learning and e-Learning to develop students' generic skills, in particular communication, collaboration, critical thinking and information technology skills. 4. Beyond the classrooms, different activities are held to enhance students’ learning abilities and effectiveness. Alumni with top DSE scores or with successful experience from studies and work are invited to give advice to current students. To cater for learners’ diversity, there are different enrichment and tutorial courses for students at different levels to stretch their potential in different subjects. There are also Learning Skills Workshops, Homework Support Scheme and Pre-examination Revision Week to develop in students good study habits. |
(3) School-based curriculum | : | 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economics, History, Chinese History, Business, Accounting and Financial Studies (Accounting), Business, Accounting and Financial Studies (Business Management) and Visual Arts. 2. Curriculum highlights: (1) The Chinese language department works in conjunction with the School Library to hold the "Audiobook Scheme" to cultivate students' interest in reading and to enhance their abilities and competence in text appreciation through reading aloud, using the works of famous authors. (2) Mathematics and Citizenship & Social Development promote e-Learning. (3) The Science curriculum is developed holistically to promote Science process skills and English language skills. (4) Chinese Language, Life and Society, Citizenship & Social Development, History, Chinese History, Mathematics, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economics, Visual Arts and Music jointly develop 'Self-directed Learning Curriculum'. |
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum | : | 1. Our school uses different assessment strategies to address the different abilities of students to promote assessment for learning and provide challenges for top students. 2. Through Diverse Learning Grant, gifted students are provided with learning programmes offered by academic bodies. There are also various school-based development programmes to nurture students’ talents such as debate skills. 3. Information and Technology is adopted in different subjects to promote interactive learning with the use of educational applications, tablets and the Classroom Management Platform. 4. To promote Reading to Learn, the Peer English Reading Scheme facilitates senior students to help junior students to read non-fiction readers prescribed by the English Cross-curricular Reading Scheme. |
(5) Life Planning Education | : | Different life planning activities both outside and inside classes are organized to enable students to gain a better understanding of themselves. To prepare them for university studies, they are equipped with interview skills and provided with different seminars to establish their goals in studies and ultimately in the workplace to realize their dreams. To make the right careers choices, students are also provided with rich career-related experiences through different activities such as marketing tactics workshops, TV Production Workshops and Youth Holiday Employment Scheme. |

(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity | : | 1. For students who do not achieve the expected academic standard, workshops are organised to enhance learning and confidence. 2. Through split-class teaching in Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Liberal Studies, students are given extra care to cater for their diverse needs. 3. Learning support activities are provided for students with special learning needs through individual and group training activities. |
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education | : | Our school utilises the "Learning Support Grant" to let teachers adopt the "Whole-Schools Approach" model. The grant is used to employ a student counsellor and two teaching assistants. The purpose is to support teachers in handling SEN students to reduce SEN students’ learning barriers and cope with their emotions. The grant is also used to purchase professional services for the SEN students concerned such as Chinese literacy training, group training on concentration, speech therapy and cognitive-emotional behavioral therapy, etc. In regard to student personal growth and emotional support, Student Support Team holds a group about stress management and Drama Club. By exposing to diversified group activities, students develop positive thinking and establish a healthy self-image. To promote the idea of peer support, a peer reading programme ― 'The Buddy Reading Scheme' is held by Student Support Team on a regular basis. Student Support Team and Careers Counselling Team jointly organise career planning activities for junior form students. As for senior form students, they are invited to participate in summer placement scheme to broaden their horizons. Our school provides specific adjustments on homework and tests according to students’ learning abilities and conducts individual study plan meetings. (4) Measures to provide adaptation for learning and assessment | : | The School holds one uniform test and two examinations during the whole year. Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences are held when the first-term reports are issued, through the occasion the strengths and weaknesses are discussed in order to identify students’ development potential. |
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos | ||
(1) Home-School Co-operation | : | Our Parent-teacher Association holds meeting regularly to enhance parent and child relationships through seminars, sport events, picnics and different social activities. Through Parents’ Nights, parents maintain communication with teachers and the school members. Different talks such as New Students’ Orientation, S.3 Subject Selection and HKDSE Careers Talks are held to equip parents with skills to teach their children effectively and to make informed choices during the course of studies. |
(2) School Ethos | : | In addition to the five domains of whole-person development namely moral, intellectual, social, aesthetic and spiritual, our school puts emphasis on nurturing the spiritual growth of students through different religious activities. Our students are acclaimed for their positive learning attitude, modesty, good discipline and their respectful behaviour towards their fellow students. There is a strong commitment to the school community and positive student-teacher relationship. Senior students care for the juniors. Alumni contribute actively for the good of the school. |

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.) | : | To promote students’ social development, a wide variety of extra-curricular activities are offered by the Extra-curricular Sub-committee, the Student Union, Houses, clubs and interest groups. The activities develop students’ talents in different areas involving sports, academics, services, music and hobbies. The Student Development Sub-committee, the Community Youth Club and the Red Cross Youth Units offer different activities for students to take part in different experiential activities and community services outside of school. Moral Education: To provide holistic education based on the Bible, students’ moral development is nurtured with emphasis on integrity, an ever-improving spirit and positive attitude towards life through different programmes conducted during hall, playground assemblies and daily teaching. In particular, the Junior Secondary Pastoral Care Curriculum is implemented during class periods to nurture the moral values of students from S.1 to S.3. 2. Religious Education: Through Bible Studies lessons, students are introduced to the knowledge of the Christian faith and values. The Church and the School jointly hold fellowship activities, F.1 orientation camp, prayer groups and faith-seeking groups to explore with students the faith and its application in our lives. 3. Discipline Education: The Disciplinary Sub-committee endeavours to build up a positive, encouraging and appreciative culture. Education programmes are held regularly to cultivate in students the virtues of Courtesy and Self-discipline. 4. Guidance and Counselling: Social worker, Education Psychologist, counsellor and counselling teachers work closely to provide professional advice for students relating to their personal and social development. 5. Junior Secondary Pastoral Care Curriculum: Through class teachers, the programme is implemented to nurture the whole-person development of students and conducted during class periods. It aims to help students identify their goals during the course of studies. |
