Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2025 ).Admission criteria for S.1 discretionary places: For the admission criteria and weightings for 2025 intake, please refer to the announcement of the school in January 2025.
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : The school organises the “S.1 Orientation Days”, “S.1 Summer Bridging Courses”, “S.1 English and Mathematics Enrichment Courses” and “S.1 Parents and Students Orientation Assembly” to facilitate students' adaptation to S.1 learning, cultivate their sense of belonging to the school and enhance their English and Mathematics learning abilities.

The school Eco-canteen provides on-site meal distribution. In striving to provide healthy lunches to students, the school has the nutritious menu set by the service provider with fresh fruits twice a week. To foster students' healthy eating habits, the Eco-canteen does not sell soft drinks and sweets.

(2) School Management Organisation : Aligning with the global trends and pulse of education, our school optimises the school management system to establish an organised, shrewd and forward-looking management structure.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : Members of the Incorporated Management Committee of the school have rich experience in management and thus are effective in leading school development. Under the leadership of the Administrative Committee headed by the Principal, the administrative structure of the school mainly comprises ten areas, namely Staff Development, Teaching and Learning, Student Quality Nurturing, Student Potentials Development, Global Education & Exchange, Home-School Co-operation, Alumni Affairs, Resources Management, Religious Affairs, School Self-evaluation & Improvement. These committees have developed into maturity and have been performing their functions effectively.
(4) School Green Policy : Green concept is cultivated throughout the full spectrum of the school curriculum. With the establishment of the Sun Kei Ecological Garden, Eco-friendly Energy-saving Classrooms and Eco-canteen, students' green experience is enriched.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : • The biliterate and trilingual environment provided by the school gives students an advantage of a firm and diverse language basis.
• The school adopts English as the medium of instruction for all subjects except the Chinese-related subjects, Chinese History, Visual Arts and Religious Education. For S.1 and S.2, Chinese Language lessons are taught in Putonghua.
• Our English teachers communicate with students in English every day. Tuesdays and Fridays are school-wide English-speaking Days, while Thursdays are Putonghua-speaking Days. We strive to create a language-rich environment to nurture students.
• The Language Across the Curriculum (LAC) programme advocates the collaboration between Junior Forms of the English Department and other subject departments in areas ranging from enhancing cross-curriculum design to collaborative teaching and exploration of pedagogy. These measures help align students with learning in senior forms.
• The Education Bureau invited Sun Kei to participate in the “Professional Development Schools (PDS) Scheme” to share our Chinese and English teaching strategies with other schools. Furthermore, two Native-speaking English Teachers (NETs) have been recruited to enhance the English aura of the school.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : • The effectiveness of professional learning communities for teachers is enhanced through structured training, collaborative teaching, lesson observations, school-based key performance indicators and data analysis.
• Teachers adopt evidence-based teaching strategies to enhance students' self-efficacy, and inspire them to pursue excellence in learning.
• Students' higher-order thinking ability and academic virtues are nurtured by means of the multi-dimensional curriculum that embraces STEAM Project Research.
• We construct a bilingual and trilingual learning environment and strengthen students' ability to connect with the world by means of diverse reading strategies, rich academic activities, various gifted training programs, eLearning systems and BYOD strategies.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: 3X. S4 students are able to choose three electives according to their interests and abilities. Mathematics Module 1 & 2 are also available for students to select. In addition, Applied Learning courses (mode 1) are offered in S5 and S6.
2. Curriculum highlights: • Our school offers a balanced and broad junior form curriculum to cater for students' holistic development.
• S1 & 2 students will study the subject “Literature in English” to extend their English learning.
• School-based STEAM Project Research is offered to S1 & 2 students, which is themed with STEAM elements. Artificial Intelligence is also covered in junior form Information and Communication Technology lessons, in which students can apply their STEAM knowledge as well as their innovative ideas.
• We widely adopt eLearning strategies in all subjects and aim at establishing a “21st century classroom” (SK Suite) model in our school.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum : 1. Reading to Learn: A diverse multi-dimensional reading campaign, which includes the Reading Journey Profile, Reading Venture, Reading Seminar, Chinese and English Book Fair, Lunchtime Book Talk, Reading Ridge, Reading Channel, Book Borrowing League and Library Lesson, is being actively promoted through a whole-school approach. Furthermore, through the Subject-based Self-directed Reading Scheme, our school creates a rich reading culture through extensive reading.
2. Information Technology: Through a web-based teaching platform, digital teaching resources database, electronic self-learning system, interactive intranet information platform and wireless (WiFi) network infrastructure, our school aims at cultivating students' information literacy skills and developing a sustainable teaching and learning habitat.
3. Project Research: Project learning is incorporated into the S.1 and S.2 Curriculum. Under the guidance of teachers, students take the initiative to determine the research method and direction. Through data collection and analysis, as well as organisation of information, students master inquiry-based learning skills and develop their mutual respect and team spirit.
4. Moral, Civic and National Education is promoted and permeates various activities including Life Education periods, class teacher periods and morning assemblies, which are coordinated and connected with several disciplines to cultivate students' civic qualities. Students can develop their sense of belonging as a national citizen, with positive values instilled.
(5) Life Planning Education : Under the whole-school approach, learning activities and guidance are provided to students in accordance with their developmental needs. The Life Planning Education and Career Guidance Team has designed various class-teacher period activities, including career assessment tools and further education information, helping students gain a holistic understanding of their aptitudes, abilities, values, and aspirations, enabling them to make informed and responsible career choices. Workplace visits, external internships, and alumni sharing sessions are organised every year to allow students to explore different fields and understand the requirements as well as the prospects of various professions.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : We offer a number of training programmes in pull-out operation mode for the academically gifted students in Chinese (Talented Class), English (English Society, Toastmasters Club, English Debate Team), Mathematics and Physics (Olympiad Teams), Integrated Science (Sun Kei Scientific Research Team), Music, P.E. and Visual Arts. After-school enhancement classes are conducted in different form levels for English and Mathematics and for S.6 students with diverse abilities to prepare for the public examination. During summer vacations, English and Mathematics enrichment and remedial courses, are conducted for designated students. Through small-class teaching in all senior forms, learner diversity is catered for in everyday lessons.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : • Our school applies a whole-school approach to integrate education and has implemented different measures to support students with SEN.
• Our supporting team includes different important stakeholders in our school, including the Principal, Vice Principals, SEN coordinators, teacher members of our discipline and counselling sections, social workers, educational psychologists and supporting staff.
• We provide a wide range of measures for students in need.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment : • Our school applies flexible and comprehensive assessment strategies. For example, we offer a “Challenging Section” in exam papers, where students can attempt to earn bonus marks.
• Formative Assessments: Daily assignments, quizzes and projects, etc.
• Summative Assessments: 1 Uniform Test and 2 Examinations each year
• The S.6 Pre-Mock Examination is arranged to motivate S.5 students to revise the S.4 & S.5 syllabuses in summer holidays before the new term starts, which helps students to be well-prepared for the DSE Examination.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : Being good partners, Sun Kei and the PTA collaborate with each other closely. In order to hone parenting skills and to facilitate home-school co-operation and communication, various schemes like the “Parents’ Academy”, “Seed Parents’ Programme”, “S.1 ‘A Good Start - A Healthy Life’ Programme” and other home-school activities will be held for parents.
(2) School Ethos : Based on Christian culture, Sun Kei puts emphasis on nurturing students' character and morality to foster their development with love and care and to build up the school ethos of conscientiousness, simplicity and purity. The new academic year focuses on inspiring students with a sense of responsibility towards the school, society and our nation. Moral education is promoted through lessons, morning assemblies, weekly assemblies and the Sun Kei Forum. The ‘My Pledge to Act Day – Grow Your Mind’ is held in September. By participating in collective commitment actions, students are willing to establish a growth mindset, dare to try and grow from confronting challenges, having faith that they can achieve success. In order to consolidate students' respect and love for the country and strengthen the awareness of national security, the activities of ‘National Security’, ‘National Education’, ‘Ethical Value’ and ‘Citizen Responsibility’ are taken as the target directions throughout the year to deepen students' values of ‘law-abidingness’, ‘respect’, ‘compassion’, ‘commitment’, and ‘integrity’. This year, the school will strengthen the teaching of positive values and promote mental health in order to help students face diverse changes in their circumstances.

(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : Sun Kei brings in the ‘flipped classroom’ and ‘engagement, thinking, production’ strategies to dovetail with the implementation of the ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) policy. 1:1 Technology is used with a view to making classroom teaching and learning more effective in response to the paradigm shift in e-Learning. In tandem, Sun Kei implements Thursday Professional Learning Community Sessions, Friday Staff Development Sessions, Quest for Excellence@Sun Kei -- Teachers’ Self-mentoring Programme, Establishing Education Professional Networks, Teachers’ Mentorship Programme, Subscription to ASCD Education Information, etc, to strengthen the professionalism of teachers, master the pulse of education and enhance creativity and innovation. Apart from this, the school encourages teachers to use the resources available on EDB websites, such as those of the Gifted Education Programme. The school also promotes self-directed and life-long learning for teachers to keep abreast of the times. Exchange programmes are conducted with our sister schools for teachers to broaden their education experience and horizons.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : Sun Kei provides life-wide learning opportunities to help students gain essential learning experiences and enrich their learning journey. We offer more than 70 clubs of five categories (music and aesthetics, physical, academics, services and other interests) for students, including the Symphony Orchestra, Scientific Research Team, Coding Team, etc. In addition, there are 11 student-organised societies in our school, including the Chinese Society, Astrophysics Society and Environmental Protection Society, to provide senior form students with leadership roles and enrich their OLE. Moreover, we fervently believe that students' horizons are broadened through approaching various parties in society when participating in voluntary services. In 2023-2024, the total voluntary service time was 14352 hours.
