Secondary One Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life

Secondary One Admission	:	Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2025 ).Admission Criteria for S.1 Discretionary Places: 1. Applicants' conduct must meet grade B or above; 2. Admission Criteria and Weighting: (a) DP Applicants' Rank Order (provided by EDB) & academic results (70%); (b) Interview (20%); (c) extra-curricular activities (10%) (Outstanding achievements in academic, sports, music and/or art, will be awarded extra points.)
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life	:	1. S.1 Summer Orientation Programmes and activities will be conducted in late August, S.1 Parents Orientation Talk and Information evenings will be organised. 2. All S.1 students have to stay in school for lunch. A contracted supplier is arranged to supply healthy lunch boxes so that students are assured to have a more balanced diet.

With concerned effort of the environmental ambassadors elected by their own class, routine practices on environmental protection are implemented; 3. Organize school talks on environmental protection.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy	:	A diversified MOI arrangement is adopted to cater for the diverse learning needs of students. In junior forms, Mathematics is taught in EMI. Other subjects adopt mother-tongue teaching with extended learning activities in English with a view to enhancing students’ exposure to English and the use of English in school. In senior forms, our NSS curriculum allows students to choose from a wide variety of EMI and CMI subjects. Enabling students to become biliterate (in written Chinese and English) and trilingual (in Cantonese, Putonghua and spoken English) is one of our concerns. Apart from recruiting native English teacher and teaching assistants, a wide variety of activities, for example, extensive reading schemes in both Chinese and English languages, publication of students’ newsletter, and participation in inter-school speech festivals and public speech competitions in Cantonese, English and Putonghua etc. are organized so as to enhance students’ proficiency in both written and spoken languages. Moreover, volunteers from churches, universities and colleges of the USA have been serving our students and helping them to improve their English through the 'International Interface Program'.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies	:	1. Small group teaching is implemented in English Language to strengthen specifically students’ learning effectiveness in English. 2. The implementation of multifaceted teaching, which let students learn via observation, excursion, interview, project-based learning, competition and service, can enhance students’ motivation to learn, and strengthen their independent thinking, problem-solving, and self-learning skills. 3. The implementation of all-round education seeks to provide formal as well as informal teaching with the values of spiritual, moral, civil, health, sex, environmental, and emotional education. 4. School-based curricula have been implemented in some subjects to cater for learner diversity and strengthen the effectiveness of teaching and learning. 5. The school-based award scheme is to encourage students to proactively develop their potential in a balanced way, to take the initiative to participate in school activities, and to eventually unleash their full potential. 6. In order to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning, teachers will constantly improve the methodologies in lessons by professional exchanges among peers via collaborative lesson planning and peer lesson observations.

Moreover, they can take Applied Learning Course (Optional). 2. (4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum	:	1. Cross-subject project based learning is adopted in junior forms. 2. ‘Extensive Reading Scheme’ in every subject is implemented so as to enrich their reading experience. 3. Book fairs and book sharing activities are held periodically. 4. Values, National Security, Moral and civic education are integrated in various subjects. Talks and related activities of moral, ethical, civic, environmental, health and sex education are organized regularly in school morning and weekly assemblies. 5. Through the Computer Literacy Curriculum, students learn how to use IT tools to enhance their interactive learning, communicating and help the exchange of ideas and information. 6. Teachers use IT to enhance in-class interaction and collaboration. Students can also build and share their knowledge outside the classroom with the aid of IT.
(5) Life Planning Education	:	1. Various Career & Life planning activities are strategically arranged to improve students' self-awareness and self-development, enabling them to make wise decisions in accordance with their individual interests, capability and career aspirations. 2. Individual counselling to S.5 & S.6 students is carried out to enhance students' awareness of career & life planning skills, thus reducing any stress in paving the way for study and work. 3. Introduction of Career & Life planning lessons in S.5 and S.6 classes, helping students to establish goals and dreams, and to explore and understand situations in further studies and employment opportunities.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity	:	We adopt the double class teacher system in all forms to strengthen our care and concern for all students. We implement "Whole-school Approach on Discipline and Counselling", student self-correction scheme, peer counselling scheme, virtue improvement award scheme, all rounded student award scheme, etc. to improve students' self-confidence, self-discipline and self-control. Moreover, we cultivate students' individual studies and growth through peer mutual support.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education	:	Our School has established Student Support Team to provide appropriate support for students with special education needs. We makes flexible use of ‘the Learning Support Grant’ to hire counselors and teaching assistant to arrange different learning and training programmes for the students, and we review the effectiveness of the students’ learning by regularly meetings with parents and the professionals. As teachers’ training is one of the key factors for catering for students with SEN effectively, we encourage teachers to take related courses to enhance their capacities in catering for SENs.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students	:	Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment	:	Student participation in class is emphasized so as to make teachers grasp their students’ learning progress. Then our versatile teachers can adjust their teaching and adopt appropriate strategies to facilitate effective learning. Besides uniform tests and examinations, we have also formative assessments on students' classroom performance, homework performance, project learning, SBA and reading reports, etc.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation	:	Our Parent-Teacher Association was established since 1997 to promote home-school co-operation.
(2) School Ethos	:	Spiritual development and morality nurture is our focus. Our teachers maintain a harmonious relationship with students and cherish their thinking and feelings. Our students are gentle, disciplined, teachable and cooperative. The school has won the recognition and support of the parents as well as the community.

(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development	:	Teaching staff's professional standard is promoted via the yearly Teachers' Professional Development Day, collaborative lesson planning, colleague observations and exchanges, individual advanced studies and inter-school exchanges.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.)	:	Providing students with various regular extra-curricular activities in categories of religion, studies, physical education, services, music, interests, etc. In the music category, the School Choir, the Hand Bell Group, the Wind Band and School musical are offered. All of them have attended a number of public performances. Uniformed groups consist of The Boy's Brigade, Scout, Road Safety Patrol and Red Cross Youth. In addition, coaches are recruited to train students in courses of Chinese dance, Taekwando, rope skipping, track and field, basketball, rugby, golf, baseball, badminton, table tennis, etc., to empower students to fully unleash their potential and enrich their learning journey. We are committed to building an international cultural campus by organizing activities such as English Tuesday and annual visits from mission teams from U.S. These initiatives allow students to participate in classroom discussions, home visits, English community outings, and other events, providing them with more opportunities to use English on campus. Last but not least, our school has always placed great importance on STEAM education. We have established an Innovative Design discipline and collaborated with technology institutions to cultivate students' "design thinking" and "entrepreneurial spirit", which are essential skills for 21st century, enabling students to become future leaders in their pursuit of knowledge.
Others	:	1. Having established for 66 years, the school has a great number of graduates across the world. A good number of them have attained outstanding achievements. Thanks to their generous support and donations, the school offers numerous scholarships to students having outstanding performance in various areas with the total scholarship amount reaching 300,000 HKD; 2. Campus Gospel: In conformity with our mission statement, we actively promote campus gospel activities in order to help schoolmates know more about God and the truth of gospel and lead them to accepting Jesus Christ the Messiah.
