| School Facilities | : | Our campus provides students with a lively, green and pleasurable learning environment. The school is integrated with both a wireless Internet access and network. All classrooms and special rooms are air-conditioned. There are almost 400 computers in this school, all of which are connected to the internet and the school intranet. There are also a campus television channel and a school radio station, a multimedia classroom and a library, 4 computer rooms and a language resources centre, a dance room, a music room, Sai Kung History Museum and an air-conditioned gym room, a fully equipped audio-visual centre featuring video recording facilities and an editing suite and a parents’ resource centre. |

| Orientation Activities and Healthy Life | : | 1. Orientation activities, English enhancement program and summer classes are offered to S.1 students. 2. We are awarded the gold award in the Healthy Schools Award Scheme organized by CUHK, we have joined the Whole School Health Programme, 4Rs Mental Health Charter and the Mental Health Workplace Charter. 3. Environmental Protection Education Committee organize, implement, and review the various plans and measures carried out. The lunch provider is carefully selected by parents and teachers in order to make sure students can enjoy lunch with good nutrition. Everything provided by the school tuck shop is strictly regulated to meet students' healthy growth. 4. Different sporting events are held every year, plus a variety of inter-class and inter-school sports competitions. |

Our school's administration is divided into four major domains. Teachers with various specialties are involved in various functional teams. Suggestions from the PTA about the running of the school are welcome, to make sure our students reap the greatest benefit. |
| (3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee | : | The IMC, established in 2006, is a highly qualified team of professionals from both the wider public and the Yan Chai Hospital Board of Directors. This distinguished team includes university professors, educators from both the public and private sectors, parents and alumni. The IMC is a well-organised management team with a high level of transparency. All parent and teacher representatives are elected by members of the parents and all teaching staff. |
| (4) School Green Policy | : | 1. Our school campus is green and pleasant. We have won the Green School Project Award by the LCSD for 19 times. 2. Different competitions are held every year to let students know the importance of environmental protection. 3. | (1) Whole-school Language Policy | : | 1. Our school greatly emphasizes students' proficiency in English, Putonghua and Cantonese. Most of the public examination subjects offered by our school are in English. Language classes across some forms are conducted in split classes. 2. Morning reading sessions help facilitate good reading habits amongst students. 3. Our school provides a range of diverse activities including English Week, Speech Festival and debating competitions. |
| (2) Learning and Teaching Strategies | : | 1. The introduction of key learning area coordinator enhances communication and collaboration across different subjects. 2. Regular meetings are held to review students’ performance in order to make better adjustments of teaching strategies. 3. To enhance interaction between students and teachers, the school adopt the ‘small class teaching’ policy in teaching particular subjects. 4. The use of IT and STEAM education are highly endorsed by all subjects. We actively organize and recommend students to participate in professional courses related to information technology and overseas exchange programs. 5. To cater learning diversity, various forms of learning activity are provided by every subject, such as group project, discussion and role play. The Continuous Assessment in all subjects aims to monitor students’ learning progress effectively and inform students what aspects of each subject they should make improvements for better learning. 6. Afterschool enhancement and remedial classes are conducted in order to provide extra learning support to students in need. 7. Lesson evaluation and homework inspection are practised twice an academic year for better enhancement of teaching quality. Co-operative projects are held with different institutes, which provides students with diversified learning experiences. 8. To prove students’ language proficiency, students are encouraged to take international examinations like IELTS and TOEFL, thereby gains international qualification recognition and increases their employability and competitiveness. |
| (3) School-based Curriculum | : | 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Currently there are 12 electives available. Students may choose 2 to 3 electives according to their interest and ability. 2. Curriculum highlights: (1) STEAM education committee is established to enhance the development of related learning areas, we organize courses in artificial intelligence AI robot programming, cloud computing integration, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) design. (2) Streaming is adopted so students are learning with their peers with similar ability. (3) In order to assess students, we use various assessment tools and schemes like peer evaluation to ensure students to reach the desired learning outcome. (4) All senior form students have to complete an Independent Enquiry Study so as to polish their independent thinking skills. (5) We has established the Gifted Education Committee, provides different courses for students. |
| (4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum | : | 1. Moral and civic education: Through various activities, students are able to build up high moral value and a sense of responsibility. We emphasize the importance of Value Education and National Security Education. 2. Reading to learn: "Reading Award" scheme and a subject-based "Reading Scheme" are being implemented. There are two morning reading sessions per cycle. Here, students are encouraged to read tailor-made passages and books which interest them. To help promote a culture of reading, book fairs and reading week are conducted from time to time. 3. Project-based learning: Under the teachers' guidance, students complete school-based project with integration and application of their learnt knowledge of various subjects. 4. Promotion of the use of information technology for interactive learning: The 'community and school shared wireless network pilot scheme' is implemented, Wi-Fi service is accessible across every corner of the school. In addition, to increase interaction between students and teachers, the school has made good use of online learning platforms and electronic devices. |
| (5) Life Planning Education | : | We have designed a comprehensive curriculum of career planning comprising different aspects of knowledge for students in order to develop their interest, thereby sets a long-term goal and make a wise choice of personal development. Moreover, representatives of local and overseas tertiary institutes are invited to introduce their requirements. Our alumni are also invited to share their experiences with our students. |

| (1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity | : | 1. Caring for individual learning differences is a top priority in our school and it is reflected in the whole-school approach we have adopted. Regular meetings regarding teaching approaches, counselling and discipline are held for effectiveness review, so that suitable adjustments can be made. 2. Both school-based and subject-based materials are used for the different curriculum across all forms. Classes are split into smaller groups for subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Liberal Studies to enhance teaching effectiveness. 3. Our school advocates a caring campus, facilitating students' initiatives to care and respect their teachers and classmates. 4. The learning support committee organises supplementary classes regularly to help gifted students to excel and to help weaker students to learn more effectively. |
| (2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education | : | Our school puts great emphasis on integrated education. We adopt a whole-school involvement approach and provide support to students in need. We utilize all the resources, funds, grants and subsidies to provide diversified, effective and tailor-made support to each student. Based on the students’ ability and talents, we provide a myriad of learning assistances including in-class support, tutorials and workshops. These measures aim at not only helping students to be equipped with skills like thinking in different perspectives, but also guiding students to establish positive thinking and build up virtues like perseverance. Besides, we also make adjustments in tests and examinations so as to cater the learners’ diversity. Integration Ambassadors, who assist in organizing various activities, forge closer bonds with students, establish rapport and provide peer support. We have also participated in some schemes and campaigns, which are organized by various voluntary and charitable organizations, for examples, Resilience Enhance Scheme, JC A-Connect: Jockey Club Keen and Active Kids Project. We understand that parental support is crucial to the personal development of students, we put great effort in establishing effective communication with parents including meetings and workshops. One of our strengths is our inter-professional cooperation – policies are devised through discussions among educational psychologists, psychiatrists, specialists and social workers. |
| (4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment | : | 1. Apart from summative assessment, students' performance is also assessed by continuous assessment, in regard to homework and projects and co-curricular activities. 2. Students' learning performance is monitored through quizzes, exam and uniform test. 3. Special examination arrangements are offered to candidates with special needs. 4. A number of summer courses and bridging programmes are offered and conducted by teachers from outsourced university students. |
| Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos | ||
| (1) Home-School Co-operation | : | 1. Parents’ views are highly valued. Members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) are elected by parents. In addition, parent representatives are part of our Incorporated Management Committee (IMC), enabling parents to actively take part in our school operation. 2. The PTA is a powerful source for the unity of parents. Lots of parents voluntarily participate in our school's daily administrative work. They also collect used textbooks and musical instruments and sell them to our students. Charity sale of narcissus around the time of the Chinese New Year is also organized. Our students also benefit from our PTA through their sponsorship of study tours and tutorial classes. Meetings and seminars on good parenting are held regularly, with the addition of more casual meetings, such as tea parties. We also invite professionals to conduct various online and in-person seminars and workshops for parents. 3. Educational institutes visiting our school are received with the assistance from parents. Parent Manager, Ms Lee Mei Lin, was elected Ten Outstanding PTA Leaders in 2014. |

Video conferencing is used as a means for classroom observation and follow-up reflection sessions in which teaching effectiveness is further enhanced. 5. | Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) | : | Extra-curricular activities comprise five major areas: sports, academic, special interests, uniform teams and social services. Altogether there are 36 clubs available to students, including the Chinese and English debating societies and the Chinese drama clubs. Each club or society allows students to develop their potential. These activities lead students to pursue individual interests, help them to build a positive attitude towards life and show them how to work successfully as a team.
