Secondary One Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life

Secondary One Admission	:	Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2025 ).Admissions Requirements: students must possess self-management awareness and readiness, as well as positive learning and life attitudes. Weighting: interview (40%), academic achievement in primary school (35%), comments from primary schools and conduct (15%), participation in extra-curricular activities, services and awards (10%).
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life	:	Our summer school features S.1 bridging courses, Chinese, English and Mathematics enhancement programs for students at other levels. There is also an orientation for S.1 students and their parents to help them learn about and adapt to the school culture.

School Management
(1)School's Major Concerns	:	1. To support individual needs and nurture students to be competent learners. 2. Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy	:	We implement mother-tongue teaching from S.1 to S.6 (English instructional materials are used for some subjects in some classes). We encourage teachers and students to communicate through English after class. The whole-school approach to learning English is adopted in our School. Activities like debating, drama and story-telling, together with English Café, are used to help develop our students' biliterate and trilingual competence.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies	:	We emphasize self-directed learning. By teaching through activities and meaningful tasks, we aim to develop students' analytical and independent thinking abilities, and increase their learning motivation. We design our curriculum in the light of our students' needs. The discovery approach and project approach are used to induce learning. We minimize the amount of copying work and use diversified methods to assess our students. Our classrooms are equipped with computers, touch screen monitor & visualizers. We exploit high technology to support teaching and learning. We cultivate the spirit of respect for teachers, of serving the community and of self-actualization. We help students to establish a good reading habit with extensive reading schemes, self-learning reading plans, reading materials for different subjects, elections and nominations of good books, reading rooms, sharing workshops.
(3) School-based Curriculum	:	1. Electives: 2X and 3X. The School provides more than 10 elective subjects for students, including Mathematics Extended Part M2 and Chinese Literature. 2. Curriculum highlights: (1) Enhancing moral education through promoting traditional Chinese culture. (2) Creating a rich English language environment for students. (3) Implementing STEAM education by providing AI lessons and encouraging project-based learning. (4) Enabling students to gain learning experiences in different domains with the “One Life, One Sport and One Art” programme.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum	:	1. The use of Information Technology and Interactive Learning: The School emphasizes on the use of Information Technology to enhance the efficiency of both teaching and learning. Classrooms are equipped with computers, tablets, touch screen monitors and visualizers. Multimedia Learning Centre and different IT equipment are all available for teaching and learning purposes. Students can access various learning resources through different online learning platforms provided by the school. 2. Reading to Learn: To promote students’ interest in reading, the school library endeavours to expand our volumes based on students’ interests and needs. Through different types of activities such as afternoon-reading session and book report competition, students’ interest in reading are further boosted. 3. Values Education: The School organizes voluntary works, visits, talks and study tours to strengthen students’ civic consciousness. Besides, the School focuses on counseling and moral education, and provides ample support and care to students on their growth. 4. Project Learning: The School emphasizes on fostering students’ ability in conducting independent enquiry through project learning, and on guiding them to find their best way of learning.
(5) Life Planning Education	:	1. Design a personalized life-planning scheme for each student, and instruct them on setting life goals and future plans. 2. Direct students on deepening their self-understanding and planning various life goals and reinforce sentimental education. 3. Implement comprehensive student support through moral education and counselling. 4. Enrich students’ learning experiences beyond the constraints of a physical classroom and normal school hours through diversified academic and non-academic activities.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity	:	We have put in operation two class-teachers to one class. Through this arrangement, we hope to further strengthen students' moral development and to enhance student counseling. We strive to continuously upgrade students' language ability through independent reading and reading-aloud.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education	:	The School has adopted the Whole School Approach on the implementation of Integrated Education, with the Student Support Team consisting of Assistant Principal, SENCo, SENST, Chinese and English Teachers, and Teaching Assistants to assist students with special educational needs (SEN) and to arrange SEN-related courses for teachers to enhance their professional capacity. The School flexibly deploys resources from the Learning Support Grant, NCS-SEN Grant and other sources to cater for SEN students of their needs with suitable and diversified support, such as recruiting additional teachers and teaching assistants to provide appropriate backup. Meanwhile, speech therapy and occupational therapy services are also available for students with SEN. To cater for learning diversities, the School has adopted curriculum adaptation, differentiated teaching strategies, tiered assignments and assessments adaptation to enhance the learning effectiveness of students with SEN. The School also closely collaborates with the Education Bureau and school-based educational psychologists, holding regular meetings to assess their learning performance. Parents are invited to participate in the meetings to assist in planning and evaluating the effectiveness of their children’s Individualized Educational Programme (IEP), as well as to attend workshops to equip themselves with effective parenting skills.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students	:	Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school; and hiring additional manpower and/or translation/interpretation services to facilitate the communication with parents. NCS Students can higher their Chinese language level by studying in an immersion model together with participating in the after-school learning support programmes.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment	:	We employ a variety of assessment methods. Continuous assessment tasks are designed to monitor students' progress regularly.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation	:	The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school was established in 2004. Every year, the PTA organizes different activities, such as Parents’ meeting, family tours, and different interest classes, to promote home-school cooperation. The PTA annually publishes 2 newsletters to facilitate home-school communications. Besides, the School would invite parents to participate in the Sports Day and other school activities. To build a closer tie with parents and a better environment for students’ growth, the School would get in touch with parents via phone calls or face-to-face meetings.
(2) School Ethos	:	Our students are self-disciplined. We discipline and we counsel. Our students have lunch at School. Through counseling, academic work and extra-curricular activities like uniformed groups, we put into practice life-wide learning. The aim is to develop students' self-management skills, sense of belonging for the School, and multi-faceted potentials.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan	:	It is our mission to provide student-centered whole person education on 6 dimensions: 1. Learning; 2. Characters; 3. Health; 4. Interpersonal skills; 5. Planning; 6. Unifying life planning, student counseling, moral education, student career and learning support, class teachers can provide counseling on group and individual basis, which helps build up a caring and loving environment.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development	:	We organize professional development activities for our teachers on a regular basis. Teachers are encouraged to take part in seminars, workshops and then share their views with their colleagues. We have joined the "school-based curriculum support project". We attach great importance to collaborative lesson preparation, mutual observation of lessons. We often invite overseas experts to act as our consultants to help our teachers grow professionally. We have participated in EDB-organized activities to exchange and share our teaching experience with other teachers in both local and Mainland Chinese schools.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.)	:	We have set up a number of clubs and societies for a variety of purposes.
