School Management | ||
(1)School's Major Concerns | : | 1. Units responsible for pastoral care will continue to have the strategies for differentiated instruction fine-tuned in order to enhance teachers' assessment literacy and the effectiveness of both learning and teaching. 2. Students' potentialities in different aspects can be developed, with their positive value system cultivated in the mean time. 3. The spirit of familial togetherness in Salesians can be further elevated by the units responsible for pastoral care, with the implementation of Don Bosco's preventive educational system being the common goal to be pursued and achieved. |
(2) School Management Organisation | : | Our school comprises four parts: Management & Organization, Learning and Teaching, Pastoral Care & Student Development, School Administration. In order to formulate and implement strategic policies, the views of different stakeholders including the members in School Development Group will be collected. The effectiveness of existing work is periodically reviewed for improvement. |
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee | : | To achieve a wider representation, the School Incorporated Management Committee comprises 15 members. They are 8 members assigned by the school's sponsoring body, the principal, teachers, parents, an alumnus and an external professional to manage the school and formulate strategic policies. |
(4) School Green Policy | : | Our school has a green policy. Students' awareness of environmental protection has been raised in three ways: reducing and recycling waste, greening the campus and appreciating the nature, and encouraging teachers and students to save energy and reduce carbon footprint. |
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy | : | The language policy of our school includes the following three aspects: 1. To match the students’ ability in learning through English, our school arranges some classes of students at the junior levels to learn through English in three specific non-language subjects. Our school makes sure that when the students' study at the senior levels, they will have a chance to choose to study those non-language subjects through English or Chinese. 2. To promote a reading culture among students, morning reading lessons are arranged. Our school also encourages students to join a wide range of language activities inside and outside school in order to enhance the quality of teaching and the learning effectiveness of the three language subjects, English, Chinese and Putonghua. With the collaboration of English, Chinese and other content subjects, reading across the curriculum is promoted. 3. Our school arranges various English learning activities, so as to meet the students’ ability and progress in learning through English, as well as their needs, interests and aspirations. |
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies | : | To cultivate students’ ability to learn through making inquiries and foster their habit of self-directed learning, the delivery of differentiated instruction have been implemented at junior levels. Meanwhile, diversified learning modes, with e-learning covered, are also carried out in the classroom in order to enhance students’ motivation in learning, which can in turn make students more proactive in making continual improvements based on teachers’ feedback. |
(3) School-based Curriculum | : | 1. Electives: 3X. In the 2024/2025 academic year, students of senior forms, with their own interest and ability taken into account of, can choose among three elective subjects based on a wide range of options offered. 2. Curriculum highlights: At junior levels, the school-based curriculum has implemented in the following key learning areas: Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Humanities, Science and Design and Technology. Under the school-based curriculum, adaptations have been made to the teaching materials in order to have students of different abilities taken care of. To further extend students’ learning experiences, lessons on moral education are regularly arranged for students of all levels. |
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum | : | Moral & Civic Education: The aim of our moral education endeavours to promote a "Positive Culture" and a "Caring Culture". We build a positive ambiance and a caring culture of a "harmonious campus". Reading: The school arranges reading classes and implements reading schemes to help students build up a good reading habit. Besides, students are required to take part in various reading activities held by institutions and organizations outside school. Our teachers do book sharing sessions during lunchtime for our students. Besides, cross-curricular reading is implemented in our school. Project Learning: Project-based learning across the curriculum is conducted at junior levels, covering various practical skills, with research methods, ways of analyzing data and skills of writing reports included. Information Technology: There are three well-equipped computer rooms in our school to facilitate students’ learning. With the wi-fi network established in the whole school and the provision of tablets for students, learning can be conducted in an interesting and effective way. To further implement e-learning at school, we upgrade the relevant facilities in each classroom which has been turned into a ‘smart classroom’. |
(5) Life Planning Education | : | A wide range of career and life planning activities are implemented to help students of all levels plan their future better. For junior levels, students are made to learn more about themselves and different kinds of occupation through Life Education Lessons. Besides, talks and trial practice on the choice of elective subjects are also arranged in order to let them acquire the relevant information regarding the choice of subjects for their study at senior levels. To broaden senior students’ horizons, visits to different organizations and companies, and talks on different occupations are arranged for them. Moreover, some of the students are given opportunities to take part in the internship programmes at different kinds of companies, which can help them familiarize with the requirements for different occupations. For S6 students who need to be provided with useful opinions and support regarding the options available to them for their future, there are arrangements for counselling and follow-up work so as to help them fully equipped for the release of DSE results. |

Students who are conditionally promoted have to attend a self-study course during the summer holiday, pass the standard tests, and meet all the attendance and class performance requirements in order to get promoted. |
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation | : | The Parent-Teacher Association promotes cooperation between parents and the school. Talks and workshops are held every year. This allows the parents to know well about the techniques on child rearing. There are two parents' days every school year for parents and teachers to discuss face-to-face the students' academic performance and personal growth. Apart from the yearly publication, school newsletters are regularly distributed by the Parent-Teacher Association, so that the parents can better understand our school.
