Our mission in education is to provide comprehensive and multifarious services to children and young people to enable them to exert their full potentialities and, eventually, to serve the community.

| School Facilities | : | We have a computer room equipped with more than 40 computers, a STEM innovation laboratory with two high-efficiency precision laser cutting machines, three 3D printers, and more than 30 laptops available for students’ use. A variety of small carpentry or electronic tools are provided to students for designing and creating products. Furthermore, we have a Project Room, four small group-teaching rooms, as well as iPads for Library reading and different subjects to use. | Orientation Activities and Healthy Life | : | To assist the newly admitted Form 1 students in adapting to their new school environment; and to enhance their self-esteem and self-confidence, our school has organized a series of multiple intelligences activities aimed at helping our students cultivate their potential in the field of physical and arts education during the summer vacation. Our school emphasizes the importance of English Language learning so the P.6 promoting to Form 1 students have to take part in an English Bridging Programme supported by online learning materials aimed at helping them get accustomed to the subjects which use English as the medium of instruction (EMI) before the commencement of their secondary life. Our school also places emphasis on the importance of healthy eating. To maintain a healthy lifestyle, our students will be required to have their meals at school provided by our designated Green Kitchen and it is hoped that our students will have a balanced diet and proper meals. All students are encouraged to exercise regularly in order to make sure that they have a strong and robust physique. |

| (2) School Management Organisation | : | We have already established our Incorporated Management Committee. The school managers are professionals from various fields. They are familiar with the local community and the development of our school. The School Management and Improvement Team, which formulates school policies, consists of the Principal, Vice-principals, senior teachers and all teaching staff. Decisions made by the School Management and Improvement Team are to be coordinated and implemented by the school's four working committees namely the Board of Administration, Studies, Student Support and Student & General Affairs. |

Recycling bins are placed in all classrooms and on school campus. | (1) Whole-school Language Policy | : | We are committed to developing students' bi-literate and tri-lingual competence. We pay special attention to our students' English proficiency. In response to the fine-tuning of medium of instruction, we have introduced the Cross-curricular Language Enhancement Scheme. Integrated Humanities (an integration of Social Studies, Geography and Finance Fundamentals) and Integrated Science (including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Science) for S.1-S.3 are taught in English. We introduced cross-curricular extended learning activities in English to increase student's learning opportunities in English and help them strengthen their competence and confidence in English. Among the core and elective subjects offered in NSS, all of which are taught in English, with the exception of Chinese Language, Citizenship and Social Development, Chin Hist, Tourism and Hospitality Studies, Health Management and Social Care and VA. In junior curriculum, LAC and extended learning activities in mathematics are adopted to facilitate the transition into senior secondary education. |
| (2) Learning and Teaching Strategies | : | We aim at enhancing students' ability in "Learning to Learn" and promote Reading to Learn, Project Learning, Careers & Life Planning, Multiple Intelligences & Gifted Education so as to strengthen students' learning effectiveness. We aim at all-rounded and balanced development of students. The school provides necessary resources and creates capacity for quality education. We have established various uniformed groups and sports teams to help develop students' self-discipline, cooperation and self-esteem. |
| (3) School-based Curriculum | : | 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Chinese History, Geography, Economics, Visual Arts, Information and Communication Technology, Mathematics Extended Modules, Business, Accounting and Financial Studies, Tourism and Hospitality Studies, Health Management and Social Care. 2. Curriculum highlights: To better prepare our students for STEM education, we introduced the STEM Laboratory in 2017-2018 to allow teachers to organize various STEM teaching and learning activities. STEM lessons in S.2 level are designed to teach students to use Micro:bit to learn coding. To cater for students' diverse needs, the school inquiry-based Integrated Science curriculum has been developed for our S.3 students. All subjects stress the importance of interactive learning, autonomous learning, "tablet-based online learning" and elearning, experiential learning, service learning, arts education, and life planning in their curriculum. |
| (4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum | : | 1. Our Reading to Learn Policy includes regular library lessons which aim at promoting reading among students. Students learn how to collect, verify, select and integrate data. Besides, in the morning reading lessons students read passages of different themes which enhance students' affective learning through reflections. 2. We encourage and facilitate students' lesson preparation and self-learning by uploading notes, subject-based learning kits, assignments and tests on e-class and Google Classroom. 3. Project Learning enables students to acquire generic skills in issue-based & inquiry-based learning through life events analysis. 4. We have the Moral and Civic Education Committee to formulate and coordinate work on moral and civic education. All departments, subject panels and school clubs will integrate the themes according to health, environmental friendliness and values education into Morning Assemblies, After-school Periods, Post-examination Periods, Homeroom Periods, and Summer Learning. |
| (5) Life Planning Education | : | The school has made full use of its resources to promote Life Planning. All teams and departments have strengthened the dissemination of information concerning careers and further education on the Mainland. The school has used community resources to stimulate the students to explore their own strengths and weaknesses in making choices. For senior forms, a continuous adoption of individual careers counselling programmes are used to analyze the characters and self-concepts of each individual student. Different departments sustain the careers-related seminars, the job placement programme, and apprenticeships to widen the horizons of students. |

| (1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity | : | We adapted the Whole School Approach to Integrated Education Scheme in September 2008. Some of our teachers have completed the necessary training as required. In addition, the school has adopted the three-tiers mechanism to cultivate our talented and gifted students and assist their learning progress with after-school enhancement support and tutorial classes. |
| (2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education | : | Our Student Support Team consists of the Vice Principal, SENCO, SENT, guidance teacher, Chinese, English or Mathematics teachers, the School Social Worker, Teaching Assistant, Speech Therapists (ST) and Educational Psychologist (EP). Besides conducting assessments of the students, the EP has also attended the Individual Educational Plan (IEP) Meeting with the Parents, so as to formulate and evaluate the effectiveness of the IEP. The EP also conducts Parents workshops to help them master effective caring and teaching skills. In addition to the professional development training program provided by the EP, teachers are also encouraged to attend the training course provided by the tertiary Institute, so as to strengthen the competence of the teachers to take care of the students with SEN. We uses the Learning Support Grant and other resources to employ 2 teaching assistants and to buy professional services including an attention training programme, learning difficulties training programme and school-based speech therapy services etc., to give interdisciplinary cooperation support to the students, so as to raise the students' academic achievement. To allow the students to recognize the presence of people of different needs in society, and cultivate an inclusive campus, we organize various activities such as sharings by guests with special needs education background. Furthermore, this encourages students to take part in inclusive experiential activities. We also strives to enhance cooperation with parents, members of student support team will communicate with the parents from time to time and the ST also give professional advice to the parents. |
| (3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students | : | Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school. The schools' academic circulars include an English version. Parents will be further informed of students' learning progress on Parent's Day. |
| (4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment | : | Besides Uniform Tests and Examinations, we have adopted continuous assessments to evaluate students' performance. Continuous assessments will include on-line exercises, book reviews and projects. Teachers will give feedback to students’ works and other learning outcomes as soon as possible, so as to allow the students to have a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. Our school provides special examination arrangement such as additional examination time to those students with special needs. |
| Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos | ||
| (1) Home-School Co-operation | : | The Parent-Teacher Association of our school is the major link between the school and parents. It offers valuable support to the healthy development of our students, helps to organize activities, both educational and recreational, to strengthen the communication and understanding among all key stakeholders. The Parent-Teacher Association has also organized seminars and workshops related to child education. As for professional development, educational visits to China have been organized. Outings and cooking classes are organized every year to promote good family connections and home-school cooperation. To provide quality education for our students, our PTA believes that the school, teachers and parents should collaborate closely to help our students excel and grow. |

We aim at educating our students to be good citizens who are self-reflective, self-disciplined and self-reliant. We will organize activities to cultivate positive life values among students. To cherish Tung Wah's goal of "all-round education", we provide our students with a quality learning environment where they can realize and unleash their potential. | (2) Teacher Professional Training and Development | : | To uplift team morale and professional growth of the staff, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals strongly supports teachers' professional development and training. Seminars and workshops, which are organized by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, are well-received by our teachers. Teachers show enthusiasm in taking part in the activities and courses organized by the EDB and other institutions. |
| Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) | : | Activity-based learning is incorporated into the school curriculum. There are more than forty clubs providing diversified activities in academics, aesthetics, sports, service and interests. There are also moral and civic education thematic events, environmental education activities, project learning, life-wide learning activities, Marching Band performances and community service, etc. Every year, we have a Swimming Gala, Athletics Meet, outings and study tours on the Mainland and overseas. |
| Others | : | Our sponsoring body, TWGHs, has provided numerous scholarships to the students for applying according to their academic performance, ECA capabilities, gifted abilities and potential, character, attitude and family socio-economic background. The school makes every attempt to help each student apply for external scholarships so that they are able to have abundant resources to broaden their horizons. The school emphasizes the importance of all round education and all students are encouraged to engage in different local and international competitions. We are so proud of the performance of the students in Latin Dance. Our Latin dancers have participated in a number of renowned competitions in Britain, Korea, Italy, China, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore with countless commendations and recognition granted. In 2015, our Latin Dance Team represented Hong Kong to take part in the Blackpool Dancesports Competition and we were awarded Second Place at the international level. Also, our Chinese Dance Team and the Marching Band have outperformed other teams in Hong Kong and their performances are encouraging. The school places high emphases on the importance of exchange programmes since students will thereby be exposed to multicultural education. The places include Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, London, Vancouver, Singapore, Tokyo etc. |
