School Mission
Our DNA is 'We Love We Can'. Ko Lui Secondary School policy has always aimed at creating an enjoyable and positive learning environment for students. We teach with the students’ abilities and interests in mind. We believe that education should be for everyone, no matter their background or aptitude. We aim to provide a well-rounded intellectual program, while encompassing ethics, physical education, social skills and aesthetics. The school motto is: ‘Integrity and Diligence’ and we strive to help our students develop positive values and to promote the importance of the six core values in life: perseverance, integrity, courtesy, self-discipline, responsibility and gratitude.

| Secondary One Admission | : | Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2025 ).The school interviews all applicants and their parents in Chinese and English. Admission criteria: conduct (30%), internal examination results (30%), interview (20%) and non-academic performance (20%). |
| Orientation Activities and Healthy Life | : | - Students participate in a seven-day "Form 1 Orientation Week" in July. Teachers used relaxed and engaging methods to help students adapt to the new secondary school environment and teaching methods. The programme included subjects like Chinese, English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, activities related to multiple intelligences, and guidance for new students. - "Form 1 Orientation Parent Day" will be held at the end of August, allowing parents and teachers to further communicate and understand the school's educational philosophy and daily operations. - In September, students take part in the "Form 1 Self-Management Training Program", which includes guiding students on organizing their school bags, arranging student handbook, managing lockers, searching for books in the library, as well as teaching values such as healthy living and self-discipline. |

| (1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity | : | Caring for Growth Together: The essence of KLSS is "We Love, We Can." The school adopts a mentorship system (with two mentors), where each class mentor nurtures students for three consecutive years, treating them as their own children. Character Building Shapes Lives: Teachers in our school believe in "life affects life" and actively promote positive education. Through school assemblies, grade meetings, life education classes, the "Star of the Month" program, and scholarship program, students are guided to develop positive values and an optimistic life attitude. Community Care: Through volunteer activities, students engage with the community, embodying the High Lightning qualities of "compassion," "gratitude," "respect," and "responsibility." Embracing Challenges with Faith and Perseverance: The principal's belief is "Be confident and be perseverant." Through classroom learning, physical and artistic training, extracurricular activities, public speaking opportunities, and performances, students are encouraged to bravely confront different challenges, face failures with a positive mindset, and persist without giving up. | (2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education | : | KLSS is committed to promoting Inclusive Education and establishing an inclusive culture. We provide comprehensive support for students with Special Educational Needs. The "Student Support Team" regularly holds meeting with members including the principal, deputy principals, educational psychologists, counselling master, special education needs coordinators and the panel heads of Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics. Meanwhile, KLSS also uses the Learning Support Grant to hire multi-disciplinary professional team to provide appropriate support to students in need. Services include inclusive education instructors, speech therapy and various treatment services. In addition, the school provides adjustments such as: extra time, screen readers and voice input. KLSS provides assessment, referral and individual learning plans for students with serious special educational needs, and helps students learn and grow through inter-professional cooperation. KLSS also organizes different types of inclusive activities to promote inclusive culture, such as the project of "Harmony Ambassador", Week of Inclusive Culture, etc. KLSS also attaches importance to home-school cooperation. We hold seminars for parents of students with special educational needs. |

| Remarks | : | Applied Learning (ApL) courses are offered in the school. They aim at offering diverse learning programs for students with an interest in areas other than those provided by the existing school curriculum. There are six areas of studies in ApL, namely, (1) Creative studies, (2) Media and Communication; (3) Business, Management and Law; (4) Services; (5) Applied Science and (6) Engineering and Production.
