Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2025 ).The admission criteria and weightings have yet to be finalised. Please refer to the announcement of the school in December 2024.
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : To welcome our Secondary one intake, we set up Secondary one Students' Orientation Day, Summer Holiday English, Chinese & Mathematics Bridging Courses and Seminar for Parents.
The School emphasizes promoting a healthy green campus and fostering healthy lifestyles. We have recently been funded one million four hundred thousand dollars from the Environment and Conservation Fund for implementing On-site Portioned Meal service so as to promote healthy eating culture and Green Lunch. The School organises Health Carnival annually to promote healthy lifestyle. Our school has proudly received the 'Green School Award'.

(4) School Green Policy : To enhance students' awareness of environmental protection, the school promotes green living in four areas - environmental education, waste reduction and separation, energy saving and environmental appreciation. Our school was awarded the Hong Kong Green School Award - Bronze award.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : The school aims to foster students' bi-literacy and tri-lingualism. English-medium extended learning activities have been introduced in different subjects in junior forms. Various English activities have been arranged and sprinkled over the year and a NET teacher is responsible for classroom teaching. Various language rich activities and enrichment programs are organised to promote English learning environment. Putonghua is a compulsory subject. In order to enhance students’ interests in learning languages, English Morning Assembly, English lunch & after school programs, English and Chinese Debate Competition, Writing to newspapers, Writing contests, Chinese and English writing corpuses, School Newsletter, Chinese and English extensive reading schemes, reading awards, self-access online Chinese and English reading programmes and Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival, holiday enhancement courses have been introduced to students. All teachers and English ambassadors are eager to provide an English-rich environment for our students.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : The school treasures pleasurable and interactive learning. E-Learning & STEAM Education are highlighted. Students are equipped with learning skills. Students' active learning attitude and critical thinking are enhanced through group discussions and presentations. Small-group tutorials and holiday enrichment courses and regular assessments help to enhance the effectiveness of learning. Visits, Field trips and exchange programmes have been organised for students to broaden their outlook, improve their communication capabilities and foster their self-management skills. To improve the effectiveness of learning and teaching, collaboration periods, lesson observations, team teaching have also been implemented.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: 3X.
2. Curriculum highlights: The school curriculum unfurled with diversity, embracing the eight key learning areas to broaden students' horizons and develop various abilities and generic skills. In junior forms, the medium of instruction of some of the lesson time of several subjects will be changed to English so as to enhance students' English proficiency. Citizenship, Economics and Society & Life and Society is a compulsory subject collaborating with World History, Chinese History, Geography and Moral Education for coordinating with the Senior Secondary Education System and improving students' skills in project learning. School-based curriculum focusing on the enhancement of schemes and coordination with the Senior Secondary Education System with the aim to improve the effectiveness of learning and teaching.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum : 1. Learning from reading: To foster students' reading habit and broaden their outlook, an interactive E-Reading Kiosk is installed, various activities including silent reading session, reading awards, new books exhibitions, thematic and subject-based reading activities, writing contests, students’ presentations and sharing during morning assemblies, self-access online Chinese and English reading programmes, Chinese and English corpuses and School Newsletter are promoted. The newly renovated library, together with upgraded facilities, provides students a modern and pleasant reading environment.
2. Interactive e-Learning: Funded by wifi 900, the school purchased tablet PCs to supplement teaching. Funded by IT Innovation Lab in Secondary school, different courses are organised to enhance the information literacy of students including coding skills. The school premises are serviced by full internet coverage with STEM room & two computer rooms which provide convenience to students for searching information needed in projects and accessing the online learning programmes. Most of the classrooms are equipped with projectors, computers and visualizers. Secondary one to six classrooms are equipped with the Interactive Whiteboard. A Flight simulator is set up for interactive learning.
3. Project learning: The school offers 'Project learning' in Secondary Three Life and Society. Students are studying in groups with the guidance of teachers. Outstanding projects will be recommended for inter-school competitions. Other forms and subjects are organizing cross-subject projects as assignments to enhance students' generic skills.
4. Moral and Civic Education: Discipline, Counselling, Civic Education, Social Studies and Moral Education are given full attention. Morning assemblies, weekly assemblies, moral education seminars, group counseling and class teacher periods are offered to students. Together with the tailor-made materials, students' counseling activities, voluntary work, community services training programmes, Flag-raising ceremony, Blood Donation Day, Enhanced Smart Teen Project and leadership camp, students are encouraged to develop positive attitudes and value
(5) Life Planning Education : In order to help our students to prepare for their future studies and careers, the school helps them to discover their own interests, abilities and talents through varied individual evaluation tools. Different activities and workshops such as My Dream program of London Ball Foundation, Mentorship Programme, Education seminars and Career-related seminars were organized to equip students with necessary skills.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : Regular tests reinforce learning and help locate students who need additional assistance. Small Class Learning is adopted (5 small class learning in all S.1 Core Subjects and 8 classes for S.1 English Speaking lessons). Adjustment of the curriculum and teaching methods and supportive measures after school and during school holidays lend effective help to fruitful learning.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : The school has established the Student Support Team that includes the vice principal, the Special Educational Needs Coordinator, the Special Educational Needs Support Teacher, the social workers, the counselors, the Chinese and English teachers, and the School-based Educational Psychologist and the School-based Speech Therapist.

Our school adopts a whole school approach to promote integrated education. In order to nurture students’ potentials and build self-confidence, we offer individualized support such as training on social skills, expressive arts activities and interest groups. Remedial learning groups and assessment accommodation are implemented to raise students’ learning efficacy. To enhance communication between teachers and parents, regular meetings and discussions are held to solicit parents’ views on student progress.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment : The assessment of students' progress is characterized by regular diagnostic evaluations and follow-ups. The academic year is divided into two terms ended with an examination. Continuous assessment is practised. Assessment methods include oral presentations, various kinds of exercises and even activities, apart from tests and examinations.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : 3 Parent Days to strengthen Home School Cooperation were organised each year. Parents activity participated in Home School Cooperation's activities e.g. over 200 participants in PTA Picnic. With warm support from parents, our school has won the honour of Meritable School in the Parents Respect Teachers Campaign for ten consecutive years.
(2) School Ethos : Our students are notably well-behaved. Notwithstanding, our school still places very strong emphasis on Discipline and Counseling. We have adopted a Whole School Approach, appointing all teachers to be class teachers. 2 Class Teachers for each class. We integrate Discipline, Counseling, Voluntary Services, Civic Education, Social Studies and Moral Education into an entity. In Moral Education, messages are put across in morning assemblies, class teachers' time, seminars, small group sessions, weekly assemblies, the materials and activities devised by our teachers in Moral Education sessions. An award scheme has been introduced to encourage excellent performance in conduct, study, services and activities. Our school is granted the "Caring School" and "Hi-five School" awards.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan : Under Po Leung Kuk's excellent tradition, our school gears towards the highest quality of education on the basis of a very good foundation, nurturing well-being and self-directed learners.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : Our team is professional, and some are invited to serve as advisory members in EDB and HKEAA committees. Teacher training is conducted on a constant basis. It is vital to help teachers to enhance skills in various aspects including learning & teaching skills, so as to give professional support to students' development. Teachers are encouraged to take an active role in various training programmes.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : The Student Union, four Houses and more than fifty clubs and societies provided activities in different areas, including academic, sports, interest pursuits, uniform groups, services, arts and music. Participation in inter-school competition is encouraged.

Students have achieved remarkable success in various academic competitions.
In the Hong Kong UNESCO Association Sustainable Development English Debate Competition (Final) 2023/24, our school’s Secondary 2 team won the championship, and the Secondary 3 team won second runner-up. In the 2023-2024 Hong Kong Inter-school English Debate Competition (Final) (CMI) schools, the New Territories), our school also won the championship.
Three students received the Harvard Book Prize 2024, two students were awarded the Brown University Book Award, and one student won the Princeton University 2024 Book Award.
In the Science Online Self-Study Program 2024, over 40% of our school’s junior form students received gold, silver, and bronze awards. In addition, a team of our junior form students won the overall championship in the Vex IQ RobotFight 2024 competition, while a team of our senior form students won the championship in the final of the Intelligent Machinery Created by Me 2024 Creative Competition.
Some outstanding students from Secondary 3 to Secondary 6 attended enrichment courses at various universities. With the encouragement of their teachers, their academic performance has been commendable.

Student Growth:
Students have demonstrated excellence in various fields. Our school’s Creative Thinking Team won second runner-up in the Creative Thinking Hong Kong Regional Competition. A Secondary 3 student represented Hong Kong in the 18th World Xiang Qi Championship, achieving fifth place in the U16 boys' individual category. Another Secondary 3 student represented Hong Kong in the first Macao Return Youth Padel Invitational Tournament, winning a team silver medal. A Secondary 3 student competed in the Thaitae Open Taekwondo Championship 2023 in Thailand, where he earned a silver medal in the boys’ 12-14 age group, 41 kg category. A Secondary 2 student won the championship in the junior men's 14-15 age group at the Hong Kong Karate Championship (Round 2). Another Secondary 3 student secured the championship in the 37 kg-41 kg category at the 28th Asian Cities Taekwondo Championship. A Secondary 4 student won second runner-up in the guzheng open category at the Hong Kong International Youth Performing Arts Festival. Additionally, students exemplified teamwork by winning first runner-up in the percussion group of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Music Competition for secondary schools, a first-class award in the group dance category at the 60th School Dance Festival, and second runner-up in the marching competition at the annual review ceremony of the Hong Kong Traffic Safety Team (East Kowloon Region). A Secondary 4 student received the Outstanding Student Award in the Sai Kung District. The students have shown notable progress in leadership, sports, and music, which is commendable.
