Secondary One Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life Secondary One Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life
Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2025 ).Criteria of selection for Secondary 1 (S.1) Discretionary Places: academic performance and interview, conduct, liaison with school, extra-curricular activities and other achievements.
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : In August, there is an Orientation Day for F.1 entrants and their parents to introduce the school and campus life. Before the opening of the school, there is a 4-day Bridging Programme to help F.1 entrants to adapt to secondary school life and studies. Pre-form 1 summer tutorial classes are also offered to F.1 entrants in July. Student Support Section is responsible for establishing a healthy and caring school, holding personal growth activities all year round and focusing on students' all-round development.

School Management

(2) School Management Organisation : The School Improvement Committee, including the principal, heads of administrative sections and subject group chairpersons, is responsible for discussing and suggesting school policies and directions. Student representatives are invited to sit in meetings related to student affairs. The school administration is divided into nine strands: religious & moral education, civic education, student support, student activities, curriculum & academic affairs, school affairs, staff affairs, information technology and school estate.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : The Incorporated Management Committee was set up on 3rd June 2014. The committee consists of 7 managers from School Sponsoring body, the Principal as ex-officio member, the teacher manager, parent manager, alumni manager and an independent manager. The main role of the IMC is to manage the school and to promote education in the school in accordance to the vision and mission of our school.
(4) School Green Policy : Our school is dedicated to stepping up green education. Ample programs are organized in a bid to raise students' awareness of the importance of environmental protection, so that they can lead a green life. We have joined 'BEAM Plus in Schools Project' organized by Jockey Club, providing a green and sustainable environment for learning. An annual Environmental Protection Week is put up, inviting speakers from different authorities including Environmental Protection Department, CLP, HK Electric and Business Environment Council, etc, introducing to students the most recent technologies for waste reduction and recycling. We also join the 'One Person One Flower Scheme' organized by LCSD for students to have hands-on experience in planting, nurturing their patience and sense of responsibility. Green Prefects are assigned in each class, encouraging classmates to practise green life in school and responsibility.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : English is used as the medium of instruction in most of the subjects. To facilitate EMI learning and raise English standard, measures including interactive teaching, creating a language-rich environment, English activities (including summer classes, English Camp and overseas study tours), procurement of family support and external resources are adopted.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : The cultivation of an interest in learning and of self-learning ability is the principle of teaching. The modes of teaching and learning include field trips, experiments, study camps, group projects, investigation approach and reading. 'Reverence for God and Love for People' and 'All-round Excellence' are our missions. We stress a balanced development in community service, civic education, life education, IT and physical health. While adhering to the 7 learning goals specified by EDB and the educational goals of our school (developing an interest in learning and learning to learn), our school curriculum incorporates a wide range of learning experiences and learning areas to build a solid foundation in our students for life-long learning. Also, according to the EDB guidelines and the principle of school-based management, reading time (morning reading sessions) is included in the timetable to enhance an interest in reading; a wide range of text genres and reading materials is provided to cultivate a reading habit and to improve reading skills to facilitate effective learning.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Our school provides 10 electives and over one hundred subject combinations for students to choose. Students can also choose to study Mathematics Extended Part Module 1 or Module 2.
2. Curriculum highlights:
a. Our school offers a comprehensive senior secondary curriculum to cater for our students' needs.
b. Lessons on ethics and religious education are included in F.1-F.6 timetables. The curriculum is tailor-made for our students based on the values of Catholicism, the five core values of Catholic education, the 12 priority values and attitudes and the school culture. The whole curriculum aims to nurture reverence for God and love for people.
c. STEM lessons are incorporated into the junior curriculum. Catering for students' interests, teachers design a curriculum and experiments which can boost students' creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills as well as their innovation and entrepreneurial spirit required in the 21st century. Students get a greater sense of achievement from learning.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum : Various schemes and activities are implemented by corresponding departments in our school to develop the 4 Key Tasks: cross-subject reading schemes, morning reading schemes, project learning across disciplines, subject-based project learning, lessons of Ethics and Religious Studies, homeroom lessons, talks and activities for values education organised by different sections, online learning platforms for self-directed learning, etc.
(5) Life Planning Education : Career and life planning education in the junior forms is implemented mainly through career workshops and lessons, experiential games and visits. It is hoped that through taking part in these activities, students can explore their strengths and weaknesses, and gradually develop positive attitudes and values.
To cater for the education and vocational needs of senior formers in the future, individual counselling, aptitude tests, interview workshops, visits to workplaces and post-secondary institutes in addition to the dissemination of information on various career fields and further study opportunities are arranged. The provision of such activities and information is to ensure students can make a choice best suited to their talents, interests and aspiration among the multiple pathways open to them.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : Support measures for academically gifted/under-privileged students are implemented by all subjects. After-school remedial classes and Saturday English and Mathematics classes are organised for S.1-4 to cater for learner diversity.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : Our school is committed to developing an inclusive culture through the Whole School Approach to support students with special education needs. In order to take better care of these students, the Student Support Team has been set up. Different training programmes, speech therapy, IEP and special arrangements for tests and examinations have been provided to help SEN students overcome their barriers to learning and have a happy school life. The Student Support Team members also meet the parents of SEN students regularly to discuss the supporting measures for the students.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school. The school also provides extra support when deemed appropriate, e.g. pull-out/small-group classes, learning resources with Pinyin, etc.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment : In addition to tests and examinations, daily work and study attitude are also included in the assessment.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : Our PTA organises home-school cooperation and parent-child activities including parenting workshops, second-hand book sale, recycling of school uniform, Chinese New Year gatherings, one-day trip etc.
(2) School Ethos : Our school cultivates an ethos of simplicity and a caring, supportive school culture. Teachers maintain a good rapport with students and students have a harmonious relationship with their peers. Our school has a democratic Student Council and there are various extra-curricular activities to enhance students’ all-round development.
Future Development

(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : Oriented towards education reforms, new theories and principles are introduced and implemented to guide students towards whole-person development. Focus is also given to the development of staff's mental and physical health, self-improvement, sense of mission and team spirit.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : Activities organised by more than 30 clubs and service groups are coordinated by Student Council and Student Activities Section. School teams include athletics, ball games, trampolining, chess, debate, etc. School choir and Chinese Orchestra have been formed too. Besides, there is Experiential Learning Week every year. Students are provided the chance to visit cultural heritage sites, join self-challenge activities and leadership training camps, take part in voluntary work and overseas trips, etc., so as to boost their confidence, enrich their life and enhance their personal growth.
Others : 1. Small-class teaching
The four standard classes in each senior form are divided into five classes with no more than 27 students each. Small-class teaching facilitates teacher-student interaction and caters for learner diversity more effectively.
2. Gifted education
Our school joins a variety of inter-school and university programmes, as well as outstanding student elections, providing precious opportunities for students with different talents to unleash their potentials. Subsidies for entry fees are also granted to talented students with financial difficulties. Students get the chance for formal interviews and presentations, boosting their self-esteem.
3. Overseas study tours
Overseas study tours to the Mainland, Asian countries and English-speaking countries are organised every year to broaden students' horizons and to align with the school major concerns.
4. Scholarships
Various scholarships are granted to students with excellent performance in different aspects including music, sports, community services and conduct, to name but a few. Some are open for application from students.
