Secondary One Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life

Secondary One Admission	:	Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2025 ).Overall performance in interview rated 35%; Rank Order List (provided by EDB) and internal assessment of students at their primary schools rated 35%; Conduct marks and Comments rated 15%; Participation of Extra-curricular activities, services and awards rated 15%.
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life	:	To assist our new students in adapting to secondary school life and fostering a positive learning attitude, our school offers a comprehensive four-day S.1 Bridging Course. This program is designed to help students gain a deeper understanding of the school culture and effectively prepare them for the new learning modalities in secondary education. Besides, Parent Talk and Parent-Child Relationship Building Workshop are organized for the participating parents and children to enhance the parenting skills. With over 90% of participation rate of the S1 students and their parents, S.1 Bridging Course is well-praised by our parents, children and the community. It is of vital importance for students to live in harmony and appreciation at school. We have joined the Healthy School Scheme. Our school has attached great importance to environmental education as well as public hygiene which are essentially crucial to the well being of every student. Through the introduction of Personal Growth course, Small Teacher Scheme, Health Ambassadors, food and health talks and sporting events, our school can nurture the growth of personal development.

(2) School Management Organisation	:	IMC has been established, our school administered school-based management. Objectives are set according to year plans. Regular reviews are made to monitor and evaluate the progress.

As they come from a variety of professional backgrounds with different expertise and experiences, they have become a valuable asset to lead, supervise and represent our school. (4) School Green Policy	:	Our school supports the protection of the environment. The installation of the recycling bins is to encourage students to develop the habit of protecting the environment. Working along with environmental protection organizations, our school has held a number of activities in the hope to raise the students’ awareness to be environmentally friendly. Our school also joins the "Solar Energy Support Scheme" to promote the awareness of green-living.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy	:	The implementation of Chinese as a medium of instruction (MOI) in junior forms takes place in accordance with the fine-tuned MOI policy. Depending on their English proficiency and the benefit, students are assigned to different range of English conducted lessons in different subjects. In order to foster the learning effectiveness, split class teaching is implemented in the English subject to cater for the individual need. Additionally, lunchtime activities, cross-curricular programmes, and an overseas study trip are aimed at enhancing the students’ interest in language learning and proficiency.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies	:	Our school put emphasis on biliteracy and trilingualism. The curricula consist of nine KLA including Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics, Science, Technology, PSHE, Arts, Physical education and Religious education. The school also promotes cross-curricular learning and cultivates students’ generic skills.
(3) School-based Curriculum	:	1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Students can either take three elective subjects or two elective subjects and one Applied Learning subject according to their own abilities and interest. Including: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Chinese History, History, Geography, Economics, BAFS, DAT, ICT, Physical Education, Visual Arts, Applied Learning, M1 2. Curriculum highlights: The curricula in junior forms and senior forms are well-interfaced and diversified. They aim to foster students’ learning interest and motivation. They serve the purposes of both remedial and enriched learning.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum	:	Learning through reading: The school is equipped with mobile library carts to facilitate students to borrow books. A reading corner is set up in every classroom to encourage students to read more books. Also, students will share the books they read and their reflections in the morning assembly. Various reading activities such as book fair and reading award schemes are launched annually. To foster a love for reading, there is a reading session during the morning assembly for all students. Information Technology: The installation of IT devices such as Macbooks, projectors, visualizers, iPads aim to enhance the teaching quality and stimulate students’ learning interests. Using google classroom can enhance teacher-student interactions and developing a learning platform. BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Scheme has been actively implemented since 2018. The Scheme aims to foster a more interactive learning environment, which enables a self-directed, problem-solving and collaborative learning capability. Positive Education: Our school aims to foster a growth mindset in students and develop their character strengths through moral education lessons, assembly and various activities and programs. Moral and Civic Education: Our school stresses the importance of moral and civic education. It is the wish that each student in our school is able to demonstrate the following qualities as a Chinese citizen: perseverance, respect others, sense of responsibility, able to shoulder responsibility, able to recognize his/her Chinese identity Starting with the family, the school, society and the country as the ultimate target, we hope that this hierarchical order can reinforce the students’ civic awareness and help to grasp the concept of ownership of the country. Awards and commendations will be given to the distinctive students.
(5) Life Planning Education	:	Our school is the resource school of the project "CLAP@JC". We adopt three major principles-exploration, experience and practice. We start the programme from the junior forms where students build up the knowledge of self-understanding and exploring their life goals. In S.3 and S.4, they get involved in a series of experiential workplace activities. At senior level, equipped with the career planning knowledge they have gained, students choose their favourite and appropriate directions of higher education and vocational training as a way to realize their life goal. In addition to this, it is also our goal to help students acquire an entrepreneurial mindset prior to entering the workforce. In a bid to successfully carry out the whole-school career and life planning education, we conduct a series of activities to enable students to understand their abilities, interests, values and other aspects: 1. Career-related activities and student’s internship opportunities; 2. Community and workplace activities; 3. Development of career-related partnerships: parents, alumni and other sectors; 4. Enhancement of the career and life planning education among parents and teachers; 5. Overseas study tours.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity	:	To cater for learners' diversity, our curriculum and homework policy for junior form comprises of two levels - the challenging and foundational levels.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education	:	Our school adopts the "Whole School Approach" model in order to implement integrated education. The Student Learning Support Unit, which includes the Deputy Principal, Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Special Educational Needs Support Teacher, Chinese and English teachers, counsellors, and teaching assistants, supports students with special educational needs. Through the systematic programme design which involves individual education plan, diversified teaching strategies, optimized stratified coursework, homework, and test adjustments, we aim to cater for students' learning differences and improve their learning outcomes. With the aid of the Learning Support Grant, our school has procured the following policies: Outsourcing services, such as social training teams, group and individual counselling and after-school tutoring are able to put into effect. Scheme of hiring additional staff to provide support and counselling for student with special educational needs and non-Chinese speaking students with special educational needs. Services offered by a Speech Therapist and Educational Psychologist are implemented to help identify and assist students who are in need.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students	:	Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment	:	Internal summative assessments (3 times) are conducted each year. Continuous formative assessments are conducted in the forms of quizzes, class performances, group works, projects, homework and assignments. Furthermore, a student self-evaluation scheme is also launched to enhance students’ reflective and analytical skills as well as facilitate their learning efficacy.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation	:	Our school has developed a very successful relationship between home and school. Through the monthly prayer meetings and parents’ meetings with the principal and parents, our school is able to create a very effective channel to listen to parents’ voice and react promptly. Our parents not only positively support the belief of our school, but also actively work along with us to organise community services. The setup of PTA Scholarship is to award the students with their outstanding academic performance.
(2) School Ethos	:	As our school places importance of students' character building, we adopt the strategy of integrating discipline and counseling policies. Together with our school social worker and Religious Affairs Committee, our school aims to foster a caring and supportive environment to our students. In order to provide a venue for organizing activities and offering counseling services, our school has recently established a students’ activity centre to serve these purposes. To extend students' potential, EDB funded programs - SMILES and SMARTS are introduced for S.1 to S.3 students.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan	:	The central focus theme of the Year will be "Learn and Grow with Grit, Live and Shine with Faith" while emphasis will be laid on: 1. Enhance student learning effectiveness 2. Encourage students to adopt a healthy lifestyle
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development	:	The School has designed various staff development programs including staff development days and workshops, study tours, inter-school observations, peer lesson observations, common lesson planning periods, which aim at upgrading the qualities of teaching and learning.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.)	:	Over 50 extra-curricular activities are offered to our students. Each student is encouraged to join at least one school club or team. Apart from this, Life-wide Learning Day, Chinese Culture Week , English Week, Inclusion Week, Overseas Exchange Tours are organised annually to provide students with various learning experiences.
Others	:	1. A School of Caring and Nurturing Students’ Potential – our School is honoured to be awarded the Inviting School Fidelity Golden Award. 2. We have been awarded as the "Caring Schools' for years. The Caring School Culture has been well established in our school. 3. In order to cultivate an English rich learning environment, the school has employed an additional Native English Teacher and set up the Self- access English Learning Centre to foster self directed learning. We create interactive flipped classrooms by the means of e-learning platforms and e-learning tools. Under the sponsorship of QEF, the following projects namely "Dream Via Drama" and "I am AUTHOR" have been launched in recent years. 4. The Dragon Boat Team had achieved outstanding performance in various competitions, moreover, this team represents Hong Kong to participate in competitions overseas, such as Russia, Czech Republic, Italy, Ukraine and Malaysia, etc. 5. Life-Wide Learning Days are launched annually for students to join a range of learning activities outside their classroom and enjoy the fun of experiential learning. 6. Our School has organized a number of overseas study programmes, the places include England, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Italy, Czech, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and several provinces in Mainland China. 7. Every S1 student is required to participate in a two-day outdoor training camp so as to equip them with self-discipline and team spirit.
