School Mission
Our school aims at providing a balanced all-round education, based on the principle of strength-based approach & the needs of students with different learning orientations and abilities, which such education help students meet the requirements of professional and tertiary education, providing a direct path to enter Saint Francis University. Implementing with Catholic's moral value and Caritas's motto and vision, such education provided guides the students in developing a meaningful life embraced with Caritas's spirit.

| Orientation Activities and Healthy Life | : | Our school holds Orientation Activities and Bridging Courses for all new S.1 Students in mid-July and August every year. In enhancing the communication between the school and parents, our school also holds Introductory Parents' Day for S.1 Parents, and Parents' Day for all parents. Our school also encourages students to maintain a balanced nutrient intake and healthy body. For instance, Healthy Breakfasts are served every Tuesday & Thursday, and Morning Jogging is also held. Furthermore, the CCA Team organises and participates in various Inter-school, Inter-House and Inter-class sports competition for students in encouraging the whole school in participating in sports activities & participating the "Whole School, Whole Health" to promote sense of belonging. | (1) Whole-school Language Policy | : | Under the ‘Fine-tuning MOI Policy’, our school formulates the whole school language policy in accordance with the school’s actual situation. Our school thus formulates the policy with due consideration of the following bases: The expectation of parents; The learning needs of students; The language proficiency, standard, performance and interest of our students; Supportive measures provided by our school. To enhance our students to be better biliterate and trilingual users of English, Putonghua and Cantonese: After-school supplementary classes are conducted at different levels to enhance students’ learning effectiveness; To promote reading atmosphere by encouraging students to read more English and Chinese books during the morning reading session; In order to enhance students’ interests in Classical Chinese, the Chinese Department conducts learning activity such as Recital Contest on Tang and Song Poetry; To create a English-speaking context: English Corner and English Café activities conducted by NET teacher to promote student’s speaking and listening skills. In order to arouse student’s interest through various activities and performances, our students are encouraged to participate in English Musical performances. |

Apart from our regular curriculum, our school also provide different Applied Learning & Qualification Framework Courses, widening our students' future academic and career path. Students are divided into small learning groups based on their learning needs in core subjects such as Chinese, English and Mathematics, in order to serve both remedial and enhancement purposes. Our school also seeks external professional support in offering professional training to our teachers, equipping teachers' teaching techniques and skills for the Senior Secondary Curriculum. | (4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum | : | Morning Reading Period is implemented on Monday to Thursday weekly. Each subject team incorporates Elements of Extensive Reading into the subject curriculum, while Chinese and English Key Learning Area Team take the lead in actively promoting the Extensive Reading Scheme. The Reading Promotion Team cooperate with subjects so as to encourage Cross-Subject Reading Activities. Students are encouraged to make good use of online and offline platforms such as eClass and Wisenews in the Library and computer rooms for self-learning. Project-based tasks are highly encouraged at the school, as it can help develops students' cooperation, communication and integrating knowledge skills. Through the continuous inputting of moral values elements during Morning, Weekly Assembly and Class Teacher Period, Students are equipped with the good moral values fundamentals. By this, students are physically and mentally healthy, caring and independent individuals who serve their society. |

| (1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity | : | Holistic Care for Students' Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Health: Our school adopts a whole-school approach to comprehensively care for students' physical, mental, and spiritual health and growth. Each form has a dual class teacher system. Through various groups under the Student Support Committee, including training from multiple uniformed groups, counseling support, growth groups, career life planning, and cross-departmental collaboration within the school, we assist students in establishing a disciplined and healthy lifestyle, thereby enhancing their self-care abilities and resilience. Our school's "Student Multi-Development Group" has also established clear strategies to implement “After-School Autonomous Learning Classes” for junior secondary levels, aiming to discover and cultivate students' diverse talents, achieving excellence in nurturing and creating outstanding individuals. |
| (2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education | : | Our school is experienced with taking care of SEN students. The Learning Support Team comprises SENCO, SEN Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Social Workers and Educational Psychologist. The 'Learning Support Centre' is established to providing a comfortable learning environment for SEN students. A "whole-school approach" is adopted to support students with special education needs. In order to provide students with appropriate support, LSG is used for outsourcing speech therapy, occupational therapy. Moreover, reading and writing training for SEN students, social skills training for students with autism, concentration skills for ADHD students. Information on SEN students will regularly be released to all teaching staff. Teachers review teaching progress and adapt curriculum through collaborative lesson planning. Special arrangements have been made, such as extended examination time, special examination venue & screen reader. |
| (3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students | : | Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school. Our school has developed a series of tailored curriculum in accordance with the Chinese proficiency level of NCS students. An internal assessment tool specially designed for NCS students will be used to determine their levels. They will then be divided into four learning groups: 1. Adaptation; 2. Fundamental Chinese; 3. Transition to Local Chinese Course; 4. Enrichment Chinese. |
| (4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment | : | There are altogether one uniform test and two examinations throughout the years, and continuous assessments weigh approximately 15% - 40% of the subject grade. School-based assessments are adopted in junior secondary classes, so students are evaluated through various activities & continuous assessment so as to relieve examination pressure. Special Arrangements are granted to SEN Students in tests and examinations. |

From 2019 onward, 'Home School Co-operate to Nurture the Virtues' Scheme will be implemented. In this scheme, the Principal, teachers, parents & students will plan the student's learning progress in order to attain 'training, cultivating & creating the best'. |
| (2) School Ethos | : | Our school, guided by the school motto “Loyalty, Diligence, Simplicity, Reverence for God, and Love for Others,” has established a school culture of "Strictness with Love, Courtesy, and Discipline." Through the dual class teacher system and class management, we foster a friendly and supportive class atmosphere. The school emphasizes service learning, with activities such as "Community Service Experience Day" and the establishment of the CSJ Care Team, which regularly engages in community service. Our students have accumulated outstanding volunteer service hours and have received various volunteer service awards and school team awards from different organizations. In the first grade, we implement comprehensive scout training to enhance students’ sense of discipline and law-abiding behavior. Additionally, the flag-raising team, Immigration Department Youth Leaders Corps, Fire and Ambulance Services Teams, and Junior Police Call effectively cultivate students' virtues of simplicity and self-discipline. The Ethics and Religious Studies curriculum and various Catholic growth activities further help students develop virtues of kindness and goodness, contributing to a harmonious campus atmosphere. These interest groups are mostly led by teachers, where some of them are led by external professionals, including school team, dancing, musical & instruments training. | Others | : | a. Our school has continuously been the recipient of ‘Honoured Caring School Award’ for 13 years under the Caring School Award Scheme. The theme of award is ‘Exemplary CSJ Student’. The criteria of selection includes: to respect oneself as a CSJ student, to put yourself in caring and respecting others, keen to serve and love your community. Through the scheme, the school expects our student can attain the skills to communicate, self-learn and be creative. In order to feedback to the community, CSJ Caring Team has been set up this year to regularly serve as voluntary workers within the community. b. Multi-intelligence Learning Scheme is conducted in junior secondary classes through various alternate curriculum such as adventure, skills and discipline trainings. The scheme was extended to senior classes last year. OLE activities in English are conducted to assist students to set goals in life, to promote English proficiency and to prepare for the future. Programmes include Bronze Medal for Lifesaving, Certificate Course in Mountaineering and basketball referee training. c. As for awards outside school, our students have received various awards in academic, sports & arts, creative work and services, such as Championship in 2022 China Cup International Mathematics Competition, Gold Award in 2023 the 4th Mathematics Challenge Competition, 2nd Runner up & Champion in Physical Fitness Category of IDYL Director's Cup (Immigration Department), and the Championship in GBA Quiz Contest, 2023/24 Hong Kong Secondary School VPM Competition Championship, 3rd Class Honour in Invention Convention China (ICC) China National Finals.
