School Facilities : Besides standard classrooms and laboratories, there is the Computer Room and an MMLC. In order to help develop students’ multi-intelligence, we have Maker Space, the English Corner, the Campus TV, the GIS Room, the Dancing Room, the Library, the Student Activity Room and the Parents' Resources Room. All classrooms are equipped with air-conditioners, a computer, a projector, a visualiser and a screen. Each student has a locker. Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : S.1 Orientation Activities: During the summer holidays, orientation and summer activities are organised for the new students, providing them with academic pathway courses and diverse activities as well as an English day camp. In these ways, students' summer holidays are enriched to prepare them for their new secondary school life. What’s more, at the beginning of the school year, the S.1 class teachers will accompany their students for lunch and lunchtime activities are arranged to help the new students better adapt to their new school life. The School Counselling Team and the Green Science Society regularly organise health talks and environmental workshops to arouse students' health and environmental awareness. The Red Cross Youth Committee provides health services and the PE Department also promotes a student fitness development award scheme.

School Management

(2) School Management Organisation : The school's sponsoring organisation is the Congregation of the Sacred Heart of Mary, with an Incorporated Management Committee that implements a school-based management model. The school management structure is divided into management and organisation, learning and teaching, student care and growth, administration and school affairs. The school coordinates academic affairs and curriculum, counselling, life planning, ECA, moral education, civic and national education, general affairs and the PTA through different school committees. The school will regularly collect opinions from different stakeholders and conduct self-evaluations to review the effectiveness and make improvements.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : The Incorporated Management Committee (IMC) was established on 28th August 2015 with a total of fifteen members, including eight persons appointed by the school sponsoring body, principals, teachers, parents, alumni and outside professionals to jointly manage the school and formulate the long-term development direction for the school.
(4) School Green Policy : 1) The Green Campus Scheme helps inspire students to love their environment. 2) Aquaponics and Hydroponic farming let our students cherish the value of food. 3) Recycling bins are placed on the campus for sorting recyclable products. The amount of waste disposed is recorded so as to reduce solid waste in school. 4) Besides the Green Ambassador Scheme, a smart meter is installed to record the amount of electricity used in school. An electricity-saving competition and visits to the Geopark and landfills are also proposed.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : Students are encouraged to brush up their English, Cantonese and PTH through different activities. English debates, morning sharing and lunchtime English-related activities are organised. More exposure to PTH is provided for students through excursions to mainland China. Students are encouraged to join the speech festival, debates and public speaking competitions. The school-based reading program is provided and students are encouraged to participate in reading promotion activities inside and outside the school to improve students' abilities in language. The school focuses on interdisciplinary reading, promotes cooperation between English and Chinese and other subject groups, and arranges different on-campus and off-campus language activities for students to participate in.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : Adopt adaptive teaching strategies to cater for students with different abilities; Teach learning skills, such as IEP, time management, and test-taking skills, and cultivate students' abilities in inquiry learning and independent learning; Promote diversified teaching models, including e-learning, cooperative learning, mixed-mode learning and strive to improve students' learning motivation: Organise enrichment courses for students with different abilities, including the “I Can Fly” Scheme for S.5 and S.6 students, elite and remedial classes, English and Cantonese classes for newly arrived students; Participate in external services, such as the School-based Services provided by the Education Bureau, the Jockey Club School-based Diversity Plan and invite experts to schools to help improve learning and teaching effectiveness.

2. Curriculum highlights: (1) For junior forms, our diversified school-based curriculum can cater to learner diversity and their interests; (2) We offer after-school extension lessons to enhance effectiveness in learning; (3) S.4 and S.5 students can opt for School-based Applied Learning Courses; (4) Measures are taken to upgrade the elite students and help consolidate the weaker ones to cater to different students’ needs in their learning and growth.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum : 1) Besides E-reading, the Reading Sessions help create a good reading habit. Our library has launched a new reading scheme in addition to the existing book fair, reading club, book recommendation through videos and other cross-curricular activities. 2) MMLC, Computer Room and the GIS Room, MakerSpace and the introduction of immersive simulation classroom help promote the E-learning environment. With the BYOD Scheme, each student can borrow an iPad for self-directed learning both inside and outside the school. 3) The installation of solar panels, Aerosim, Smart Hydroponic farming system, Robot Master training system, and IT Lab in the junior form curriculum helps develop students’ potential in STEM. 4) Through cross-subject activities and excursions to the mainland, students can analyse social issues to raise their independent thinking skills on special topics. 5) Promote adaptive teaching to cater for learner diversity and divide students into different groups to develop their generic skills. 6) OLE periods help provide students with diversified learning experiences and develop their potential.
(5) Life Planning Education : Students are nurtured to set their goals through personality tests, individual and group career counselling, and job descriptions. Besides job tasting programmes and company visits, Applied Learning courses and individual career counselling are provided for students to prepare well for the future.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : We have locals, NCS and new-arrival students with different learning needs at school. Adaptive teaching strategies and cooperative learning are adopted. The school organises classes according to students' abilities in Chinese, ENG and Maths. Elite and remedial classes are provided after school. The school offers diversified activities after school and during OLE periods. The school has an Elite Group and a Student Support Team, which are staffed by experienced teachers and work as an inter-professional team to take care of students. By reviewing assessment data and teachers’ observations, schools will identify students’ talents or difficulties in different aspects as early as possible for timely academic adjustments, test support, appropriate training and professional intervention to unleash students’ potential, help them overcome difficulties, improve academic performance, physical performance and leadership skills. For SEN students, learning and growth support are provided such as study groups, orientation activities, parent-child activities, community visits and personal growth courses. IEP and special exam arrangements are also provided according to the regulations set by the HKEAA for the relevant students.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : Our school adopts a "whole-school approach" model to support students with different needs, providing appropriate and diversified support services, including special examination accommodation, to enhance students' learning effectiveness and help them integrate into campus life. Our school has specially set up a "Caring Week", inviting organizations outside the school to hold activities and strive to develop and promote a caring and inclusive culture on campus. Home-school cooperation and a regular communication mechanism to discuss relevant student support strategies with parents are school’s focuses. The Student Support Team is led by the Vice-Principal, panel heads of the Student Support Team, the Dean of Academic Affairs, two SENSTs, one educational psychologist and two social workers. The school also uses the Supporting Grant given by the EDB to hire one counsellor and two assistant teachers, and purchase professional services to enhance students’ self-confidence and social skills. All these help to build up an inclusive culture and support students with special educational needs.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school; and hiring additional manpower and/or translation/interpretation services to facilitate the communication with parents.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment : 1. For formative assessments, we evaluate students in the form of quizzes, assignments and performance in class as well as online evaluation for instant feedback. For summative assessments, we have two uniform tests and two-term exams each academic year.
2. To cater for the learner diversity, measures like multiple learning tasks, graded worksheets, better learning environment, grouping, multi-sensory learning materials, questioning skills and appropriate display of students' learning achievements are adopted. Basic questions in the assessment papers help trace and analyse students’ academic results to help regularly evaluate the effectiveness of teaching strategies.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : To let students grow up happily, the school actively promotes cooperation and enhances sharing among parents and teachers. Parent representatives who help implement long-term develop plans are elected to our IMC. The PTA actively promotes parent education and has organised a series of activities, inviting expert speakers and social organisations to give lectures and workshops to exchange experiences in nurturing children. PTA also actively promotes home-school social activities such as reunion celebrations, food activities, autumn trips and parents' evenings. Besides serving the community, the PTA members also actively help with our school activities such as on Sports Day and Parents' Day.
(2) School Ethos : To live up to the motto from Father Vincent Lebbe: “Total Renunciation, True Charity, Constant Joy", our teachers bear in mind one utmost important value – to serve everyone with no discrimination and care for students’ needs. The school focuses on moral cultivation and the five core values of Catholicism: "truth, justice, charity, family, and life" as well as the twelve primary values and attitudes proposed by the Education Bureau to cultivate students with good character and be responsible persons for other individuals, society, and the country.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan : 1. Learning and Teaching: Adopting different teaching strategies, such as cooperative learning, to cater for student diversity; Cultivate students' learning interest and motivation to enhance students' ability to learn independently.
2. Student care and growth: Cultivate students’ different interests and build a platform based on their strengths to develop their diverse potentials; The school instills different values to enhance students' intrinsic qualities and cultivates students to care about society through service learning.
3. Promote patriotic education: Organise interdisciplinary group activities to promote Chinese culture and enhance patriotism; All students in the school broaden their horizons and understand the latest development of the country by participating in study tours to the mainland.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : Our school has always encouraged teachers to continue their education, including professional courses conducted by various tertiary institutes, universities, Education Bureaus and various professional organisations to keep up with new educational trends. The school regularly holds Teachers’ Development Days to provide professional training on learning and teaching, caring students and school concerns. It also actively contacts outside the school and organizes further education activities with different themes, such as participating in the Crisis Management Workshop organised by the TKO Police Community Relations Office. In recent years, it has actively promoted joint school lectures, such as lectures about legal issues in school. The school also pays attention to the cultivation and growth of new teachers and has a "Mentoring Scheme" in which senior teachers are responsible for helping new teachers adapt to the school environment.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : Implementation of a 3 "Mores" strategy --More Experience, More Challenges and More Happiness, together with a self-directed learning attitude, self-discipline and self-confidence in the learning environment so as to cultivate positive values and a sense of perseverance among our students. During the OLE periods and after school, a total of about 30 extra-curricular activities take place. The key activities are STEM Artificial Intelligence (aircrafts, robotic cars and VR) and Green Technology (Aquaponics and Hydroponic farming and electricity generation from solar panels). Physical activities include basketball, badminton, table tennis, skateboarding, jazz dance, drama, artistic creation, Chinese and Western music, Chinese culture (juggling, luminous dragon troupe, flag corps, Chinese drum troupe, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese culture and art) and religion (Catholic Alumni Association), to inspire potential, learn to get along with others, and cultivate an unyielding spirit. Our school’s Student Union, Four Houses or society committees often organise diverse activities or competitions to allow students to learn different generic skills from their experiences. The school also actively encourages students to join service teams such as the Hong Kong Youth Award Scheme and the Hong Kong Red Cross Youth League. The One-student-one Position Scheme is also especially designed for the junior formers to foster their spirit of serving others and the society and know that it is a blessing to help people in need.

Religious Education: Bearing in mind the dedication of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the “Education for all”, our school provides an all-rounded education for our students by cultivating them with a kind heart for their spiritual development. Besides Religious lessons, students can join the Catholic Students’ Group to learn more about the religious belief.
2. Scholarship / Award Scheme: To encourage the pursuit of all-round development, a wide range of award schemes are available for students to apply for:
A) School-base Award Schemes: New Student Scholarships, Language Scholarships, Diligence Awards, Award for the Best Academic Advancement, Voluntary Service Award, Outstanding Student Award, Extra-curricular Activity Award and Ability Development Award.
B) Open Awards / Scholarships: Students are encouraged to join the open competitions such as Project Wecan Scholarship, F Rev. Joseph Carra Memorial Education Grants, Sir Edward Youde memorial Fund Scholarship Scheme, Grantham Scholarships Fund, Upward Mobility Scholarship.
3. Results of Open Competitions / Inter-school Competitions: Students are encouraged to showcase their different abilities on different platforms. School Mathematics and Mathematical Olympiad Challenge, Asia Pacific Cup International Mathematics Invitational Competition, Creative Writing Competition, Hong Kong Speech Festival, School Drama Festival, Hong Kong Taekwondo Invitational Tournament, Rope Skipping Competition, RoboMaster, badminton, table tennis and basketball competitions.
4. Exchange Schemes: The school encourages students to participate in overseas study groups, and all students will join the excursions to the mainland annually to understand the development of the country and increase their sense of belonging to the motherland. Our school also organises other overseas study tours such as Thailand, Singapore and the UK to broaden students' international horizons.

Remarks : Other learning experiences are provided for students to develop their potentials from 2:50pm to 4pm on Fridays. The students with higher ability will study M2, while some senior formers will attend the Applied Learning courses jointly organised by the tertiary institutes to motivate them to start career planning for their future. Our school is also well experienced in taking care of new immigrants from mainland China and students with special needs. Besides, elite students are selected and encouraged to strive for their best in the public exams.
