Formerly known as PLK 1983 Board of Directors' College, our school aims at a quality education for all, advocates an all round education embracing the academic, moral, physical, social and aesthetic aspects, and takes pride in nurturing and flourishing faithful boys and girls for the community.

| Orientation Activities and Healthy Life | : | F.1 Orientation Talk and Orientation Games Day are held before September. The year-long "F.1 Orientation Star Scheme" includes a series of lunch-time programs and interest groups (Sept-Dec). There are Guidance Prefects helping all F.1 students to adapt to the secondary school life. The school has been awarded “Caring School” for 16 consecutive years. The aim of our school is to provide teachers and students with a safe, healthy, harmonious and happy environment. Our School has also fulfilled the requirement of the scheme with good performance. Our school has launched Jockey Club Project Well-being to promote the importance of mental health. |

| (2) School Management Organisation | : | Creative and high efficiency. Our school joined the SMI as a pilot. In 2014, we actively participated in the Pilot Project on Strengthening Schools' Administration Management. The Administrative Committee is formed by heads of the Academic Department, Executive Department, Pastoral Development Committee, Co-curricular Activities Department, Guidance Department and Discipline Department. Daily administration and management is under the guidance of the Principal who works collaboratively with vice-principals and assistant vice-principals. |
| (3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee | : | Our school has adopted the school-based management system since 1992. It has allowed our school flexibility in operation and development and we have striven to continually provide the best learning environment for our students. The Incorporated Management Committee of Po Leung Kuk Lo Kit Sing (1983) College was established on 1st Sept,2012. Introducing a participatory governance framework involving key stakeholders in direct school decision-making and providing different input would enhance transparency and accountability. The IMC consists of representatives from the sponsoring body, the Principal, teachers, parents and alumni. |

Our school was granted Outstanding Environmental Protection School Award, Outstanding Environmental Protection Teacher Award and Outstanding Environmental Ambassador Award. Our School has been awarded School Sustainable Development Gold Award for three consecutive years, and School Sustainable Development Honour Award. The School has been granted 'The Outstanding Climate Ambassador' for two consecutive years. Besides, the school has been awarded "The Most Outstanding Green School -- Excellence Award" by Hong Kong Electric. |

| (1) Whole-school Language Policy | : | English has been adopted as the medium of instruction in our school except the subjects of Chinese Language & Putonghua, Chinese History, Life/Moral Education (including Career Planning), Citizenship and Social Development, HMSC, Physical Education (HKDSE) and Visual Arts (HKDSE). The well-tailored curriculum helps students switch to English-medium learning. |
| (2) Learning and Teaching Strategies | : | In order to promote active learning and reading culture, our school has developed a series of parallel curriculums including Project Curriculum, Extensive Reading Scheme, Reading Celebration, Activity Curriculum and Student Profile. Our junior secondary curriculum aims at fostering students' whole-person development; enriching students' learning experiences; strengthening students' biliterate and trilingual ability as well as STEM education. The junior curriculum is tailored to consolidate students' foundation and ensure smooth transition to their senior secondary curriculum. |

| (4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum | : | We are a school with vision. We are committed to helping students of our school to have whole person development. In order to create a favorable learning and teaching environment, our school actively promotes Inquiry-based Learning, Extensive Reading, Moral Education and STEAM programs. There are Reading Celebration Day and Project Presentation Day for students to celebrate their works in these areas. Our teachers and students are well equipped with I.T. skill and it is a common practice to apply I.T. in learning and teaching. Moral education is already a part of our formal curriculum, though its components (e.g. Environmental Education, Nationalistic Education) are not discrete subjects. Besides moral education lessons, different kinds of activities such as Voicing Our Values, Character Day, Day for You are organised for value and moral education. |
| (5) Life Planning Education | : | In our school, Life Planning Education plays a significant role in helping students’ self-understanding, personal planning, goal setting, reflective habits of mind and articulation to progression pathways. A series of programs and visits were organized for students, who are developing their competitive edges for the future. Apart from applying JUPAS and non-JUPAS courses, other study pathways are explored for our students such as Taiwan, Japan, England and Australia universities, etc. Besides, we have partnered with renowned institutes which offer company visit opportunities for our students to enrich their knowledge of business environment. |

| (1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity | : | Elite classes, split classes and resources classes are set to cater for learning diversity. SEN coordinator and SEN social worker help to take care of students with special learning needs. |
| (2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education | : | Our Student Support Team includes Vice-principal, Guidance Head, Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Academic Department Head, Discipline Master, Special Educational Needs Support Teacher, Representatives from Chinese, English and Discipline Departments, social workers and Po Leung Kuk educational psychologist. With the support of the Learning Support Grant from EDB, our team offers speech therapies, and clinical psychological services to equip our special needs students with reading and writing skills, social skills, attention training and counselling sessions. All teachers will regularly be informed of the SEN students’ condition and if necessary, our school will make special examination arrangements for students. |
| (3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students | : | Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school. |

| (1) Home-School Co-operation | : | Home-School cooperation is strengthened by our efficient and devoted Parent-Teacher Association established since 2004. A rich variety of activities have been organised, notably including parent campus day tours, parenting talks, local tour, interest classes, cooking class, parents' night and voluntary work etc. |
| (2) School Ethos | : | Our school adopts a whole-school approach to discipline and guidance. Students in general behave well with good self discipline. School prefects and guidance prefects help to maintain a good and healthy learning environment. We have a fair and consistent discipline policy, with rules clearly spelt out and made known to all staffs and students. |

| (2) Teacher Professional Training and Development | : | The Principal and teachers attended overseas exchange programs and local training courses actively. In 2023-24, the average hours attended were far more than that required by EDB. |
| Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) | : | 1. To emphasize learning beyond classroom, the CCA bodies have been restructured into 5 tiers system with around 60 units, namely, 4 Houses, school teams, academic societies, uniform teams and interest clubs. There are clear expectations on different forms of students. F.1 and F.2 students have to choose two teams or clubs as whole year training and exposure. F.3, F.4, and F.5 students are offered executive posts for leadership training. 2. To enrich other learning experience of students, our school also organized different activities during the whole year, such as Day for You, Life-wide Learning Day, Stage Cultural Day, Chinese Cultural Day, Creative Science Showbiz, Inter-house Singing Competition, Inter-class English Drama Competition and Dance Competition, etc. 3. Our students are actively involved in and attained great achievements in competitions, such as The Hong Kong Schools Speech and Music Festival, sports competitions in the Kwai Tsing District, JA Company Programme, Mock Trial Competition and Robofest HK Game Robot Challenge, Odyssey of the Mind Tournament, International 4D Frame Maths & Science Creativity Competition, etc. 4. To develop students' potential and to engage them in serving the community, we organize a Social Service Programme to F.1 to F.6 students so as to encourage them to take part in community services. Some devoted students achieved several service awards in the past few years. 5. Our school encourage students to explore the horizons by exchanging to overseas such as Australia, Korea, Singapore. Students was subsidized to join study tour in Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Shanxi, Ningbo, etc. |
