Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2025 ).Admission criteria and weightings for S1 Discretionary Places: EDB Rank Order List (10%), academic performance (30%), performance in extra-curricular activities (20%), conduct (15%); interview performance (15%) family connection with our school (10%).
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : S.1 Orientation Programme (held from mid July to August) helps new-comers adapt to school life. We are the championship of 'The Hong Kong Green School Awards' in 2003. By joining the Healthy School Award Scheme of CUHK in 2001, we promote health education to students, parents and society through our curriculum and OLE days enthusiastically. In 2007, we won the Hong Kong Healthy School Award (Gold).

(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : In 2000, our alumni, parents, representatives from the community and teachers formed in the School Management Committee. In September 2011, the Incorporated Management Committee was established. The IMC representatives are then responsible for making important decisions on school policy while the principal and the School Policy and Finance Management Committee are responsible for carrying out the policy.
(4) School Green Policy : We received the Hong Kong Green School Award in 2003, Hong Kong Environmental Protection Achievement Award in 2008, Sustainable Development School Award Programme Gold Award in 2009, 2010 and 2012, Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence Sectoral Awards (gold) in 2010 and Devotion of Promotion of Sustainable Development Honours Award in 2012.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : Mother-tongue education is implemented in the school. Bi-literate and trilingual training are emphasized as well. We help students enhance their language proficiency and bilingual communication skills through activities such as the NET scheme, English Week, comprehensive reading schemes, English songs singing contest, Speech Festival, debate competition and project-based learning.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : We promote self-regulated learning to establish good learning habits and attitude for students. According to Attainment Test evaluation results, strong improvements are seen in students' academic results and learning motivation. Our curriculums are updated regularly. E-learning is also promoted to facilitate teaching and learning, along with a wide range of extra curricular activities. Our school-based gifted education policy provides diversified learning experience for students to develop their potentials. Four teachers from our school received The Chief Executive's Award for Teaching Excellence in 2008/2009 and 2010/2011. Teachers also form Learning Circles to carry out research on students' learning.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: 2X. Students can choose two electives, plus one Applied Learning programme or Mathematics extended part module one.
2. Curriculum highlights: School-based curriculum has been developed and implemented in various subjects to cater for various learning needs of our students, including teaching strategies and learning materials.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum : 1. Technology-assisted Self-regulated Learning: Our school promotes self-regulated learning based on Dr. Ho Sai-man's framework of self-learning, co-learning, mutual learning, and guided learning. We conduct lesson study and open lessons in core subjects to enhance students' ability for independent learning and their participation in class. Our school is also developing e-learning by implementing a BYOD program for S1 to S5 students to use iPads for interactive learning in the classroom. We have successfully applied for Quality Education Fund to promote the "GeoGebra Interactive Mathematics Classroom", developing over 200 teaching materials to help students grasp abstract mathematical concepts, as well as "EdV Online Classroom" project, which records short videos for students to do online learning.
2. Reading to Learn: There is a 15-minute morning reading session daily. TLLF Reading Festival and Reading Reward Program are also held. Moreover, theme-based Cross-Curricular Reading Booklets are compiled or each grade level and provide diverse reading materials. Additionally, activities such as book clubs, good book sharing sessions, parent-child reading programs, and book drifting programs are organized. In 2023, funding from Project WeCan was received to establish an E-Café and renovate the library, enhancing a positive reading environment.
3. Experiential learning: Citizenship, Economics and Society Department organises excursions and visits for the junior secondary students and carries out project learning activities to enhance students' generic skills. Our school holds "Eye on the World" programmes, life education lessons and Current Affairs Activity Day yearly to raise students' moral and civic awareness.
4. Community-friendly School Program: Sponsored by Community Investment and Inclusive Fund (CIIF), this program continues to operate community-school collaborative activities by opening school spaces, providing students with more opportunities to interact with community members, and establishing a friendly-community school aimed at serving the community.
(5) Life Planning Education : We put utter emphasis on students' life planning. We aim to help students to unearth their own interests, nurture the necessary abilities and set their own personal goals through systematic talks, workshops, activities and life planning lessons. They also learn about different occupations through various career exploration activities. Under the teachers' guidance, students work on their life planning and get ready for further studies and career development.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : Students are streamed into smaller groups for Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Citizenship and Social Development. Under Inclusive Education Committee, we offer Social Skills Classes, Reading and Writing Classes and other support for students with special educational needs. We have formed Learning Support Team and Guidance Prefect Team to help students. For non-Chinese speaking students, we provide Chinese language learning and teaching support. Since 2008, we have collaborated with City University to arrange for internship social workers to support students. Starting in 2024, we work with Shue Yan University to arrange for internship counsellors to support our students. In addition to Learning Support Grant, our school also provides a grant to assist non-Chinese speaking students with special educational needs.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : Students are streamed into smaller groups for Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Citizenship and Social Development. We differentiate worksheets to cater for students with diverse abilities. We offer extracurricular activities to facilitate the development of students' multiple intelligence. We have Special Educational Needs Support Teachers (SENSTs) and has appointed a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead the Student Support Team to promote the school's inclusive culture. The Inclusive Education Committee provides different programmes for students with special educational needs, such as social skills training group, reading and writing group, career and life planning programme, and many other activities. In addition, we have established the Guidance Prefect Team to help students with special educational needs in order to build their self-confidence. Our school also promotes Home-School Co-operation to give support to parents and students with special educational needs. Early identification and timely intervention for students with speech and language impairment (SLI) enable them to learn more effectively. Our school offers speech therapy for students with SLI to enhance their language related skills and communication skills. We provide support for NCS SEN students through inclusive programmes and appointed a teaching assistant to cultivate learning environment in school, facilitate peer support among NCS students with SEN and local students. Activities include voluntary services, voice-over classes which helps integrate them into school life.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school. Lunchtime Reading Group; Pre-exam tuition; Tailor-made curriculum and guidance based on students' ability.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment : Our school has two examinations for S.1 to S.5, one examination for S.6, and one uniform test for each term in S.1 to S.3, for students to consolidate their knowledge. Special examination arrangements, e.g. extra time allowance, short breaks during an examination, use of screen readers and speech to text software are provided for students with special educational needs.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : The school actively promotes home-school cooperation and organizes over 20 home-school collaboration activities annually. These activities include events such as Secondary One Orientation Activities, a barbecue activity, voluntary work, outings, workshops for parents, caring activities, 100-day celebration for Secondary One students, a graduation activity for Secondary Six students, Teacher's Day, school policy discussions, and seminars on parent-child communication skills and emotional support. The school has a Parents' Resource Center that aims to promote the spiritual and physical well-being of students through close collaboration between parents and the school.
(2) School Ethos : Our school adheres much attention to students' discipline and whole-person development. With our dual or trio class teacher system, social workers and educational psychologist, we work hand in hand to promote values education through nurturing in our students the twelve priority values and attitudes. Dr. Tam Yik Fong has donated $1,000,000 to set up the Dr. Tam Yik Fong Fund which awards scholarships to students with outstanding achievements in various aspects.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan : Our school strives hard to secure extra resources in order to support students' learning. In 2021, our school was granted $3.22 million by Community Investment and Inclusion Fund (CIIF) to launch Project on Generation Connect through Fitness and Easy Sports to help students build up strong bonding to the community and live harmoniously with the elderly. From 2023 to 2026, the school received a total funding of $1,710,000 from the Project WeCan and Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged of Social Welfare Department to establish a Chinese Cultural Center, offer Chinese and English courses, social entrepreneurship workshops and music classes.
Our school also emphasizes developing students' potentials in STEM. Our students have got many awards. Three asteroids are named after three outstanding students, Chan Yik Hei, Wong Sum Ming and Li Kin Pong. In 2015, Guo Yihuang received the Roche Young Scientist Award (RYSA). We have been the only district training centre in Western New Territory under "Fusion between Chinese Cultural Arts and Robotics Project" and we have won the Soong Ching Ling Awards for Children's Invention Demonstration Centre.
Our school has also received funding from Quality Education Fund to implement a STEM Maker Space experiential learning program. Students won third place in their proposal at the 54th Inter-school Science Exhibition. Additionally, we received funding from the Po Leung Kuk Young IMPACT MAKERS in 2024 to develop and operate a river and coastal cleaning boat. To align with the trends in the low-altitude economy industry, our school plans to introduce more STEAM courses and activities related to aviation, aerospace, and drone industries.
Our school also organizes overseas exchange tours every year, leading students to visit sister schools and continue virtual exchanges. Our destinations include Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Macau and Mongolia.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : Teachers are encouraged to participate in professional development trainings. There are at least three in-house staff development programs every school year. A teacher induction program is conducted for new teachers. Teachers actively participate in workshops, seminars and exchange programs organized by EDB, universities and other professional institutes and exchange programs co-organized by our Singapore and Mainland sister schools. Our SENCO was nominated to participate in "i–Journey" Paid Non-local Study Leave Scheme for Secondary School Teachers organized by EDB. In the school year 2021/2022, our teacher was appointed as the seconded teacher who represented our school to serve as Centre of Excellence (CoE) at IT in Education Section of EDB specializing at teacher training for eLearning development in primary and secondary schools.
Our teacher attended International Conference on New Approaches in Education in Finland and International Conference on Applied Research in Education in Denmark to present the research findings on the outcomes of community-friendly school initiative.
In order to create a sport climbing culture, we have 22, 30 and 33 teachers who have acquired sport climbing instructor, First Aid and Automated External Defibrillation certification respectively.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : Many students have outstanding performances and have won a lot of prizes in different international competitions. An asteroid numbered 20780 is named after Chan Yik Hei as an award and he was admitted to Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Our students also won the first prize in the Hong Kong Youth Science & Technology Innovation Competition, the National High School Student Science and Technology Innovation Award, the New Seed Award, the Green School Championship in the Secondary School Category, and the second prize in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF). Our junior form students won the 2013 VEX Robotics World Championship CREATE AWARD. In 2015, Guo Yihuang was honored with the Roche Young Scientist Award. Following the footsteps of Chan Yik Hei, Wong Sum Ming and Li Kin Pong received a second-place award in Materials Science in Intel ISEF and an asteroid was named after each of these two young scientists in 2015. They were the first students in Hong Kong who won the Golden Invention Prize of Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions in 2016. In 2023, our students won the first prize at the Greater Bay Area (Nansha) Maker Education Seminar with their computer-controlled musical instrument creation. Students have also won championships in various videotaping, photography and audio-visual competitions. Our students have won the championship in rock-climbing in Asia. Other long-standing sports teams such as the baseball team, rock-climbing team, basketball team, soccer team, handball team, karate team, bowling team and bench press have won frequent championships with numerous opportunities to shine in Asia and international events.
