Message from CHSC Chairman

December 2025

Dear Parents,

The Secondary School Profiles (SSP) 2025/2026 compiles essential information on more than 400 local secondary schools, including school mission, school facilities, teaching staff information, class structure, subjects offered, student support, as well as learning and teaching plans, providing parents with various school information. In addition to printed copies, the SSP is also available online as a handy reference for parents to access school information.

Online version of the SSP (https://www.chsc.hk/secondary/en)

When choosing a secondary school, parents should engage in thorough discussions with their children to better understand their abilities, attributes, personality and interests, and consider factors such as the school's education philosophy and features, curriculum design and direction of development for an appropriate choice. Besides making reference to the SSP, parents can actively participate in the admission talks and activities organised by individual secondary schools to learn more about its admission mechanism and characteristics. Professional advice from principals and teachers can be sought when necessary. Furthermore, parents can also attend parent talks on “Choices of Secondary Schools” organised by the Education Bureau (EDB) to learn more about the Secondary School Places Allocation System, facilitating study pathway planning and providing necessary support for their children.

Children may encounter academic and developmental pressure and challenges after being admitted to secondary school. The role of family is crucial in providing a harmonious and supportive environment for children to thrive. I suggest that parents communicate with their children daily and listen attentively to their thoughts, feelings and needs, and help them develop proper values and resilience to embrace challenges along their growth journey. Parents can also refer to the 4Rs Mental Health Charter launched by the EDB to enhance children's physical and psychological well-being by encouraging children to have enough rest, take the time to relax, strengthen interpersonal relationships, and cultivate resilience.

Close co-operation between home and school is key to a child's joyful learning and healthy development. I encourage parents to maintain close communication with the school as their children transit to secondary education, and actively participate in activities organised by the school and the Parent-Teacher Association so as to better understand their children's learning progress and strengthen the connection between home and school.

Lastly, I sincerely wish every family harmony and hope that every child flourishes in good health and happiness.
