Secondary One Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life

Secondary One Admission	:	Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2026 ).Selection criteria for S1 Discretionary Places:　Rank order of EDB accounts for 70% and performance in interview accounts for 30%. Interview activities include reading aloud English and Chinese passages, a group interview conducted in both English and Chinese, science experiments etc. Bonus marks will be given to applicants with outstanding performance in ECAs, such as being representatives of HKSAR, medal winners in interschool competitions etc.
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life	:	Our school provides a comprehensive orientation and guidance system for new students. During the summer, we conduct registration interviews, hold parent seminars during the Secondary One Growth Week, implement an English reading programme, offer bridging courses in English, Mathematics, and Science, and provide library borrowing services. After the term begins, we continue support through the “Peer Counseling” and “Sunshine Ambassador” programs by organizing adjustment workshops and parent evenings throughout the year to assist students in their transition. We center our approach on a growth mindset, emphasizing joint cultivation by students and parents. At the start of the semester, students are guided to establish a positive attitude and practice it during Growth Week. Class teachers integrate year-round class activities to continuously nurture students’ psychological resilience and perseverance, creating a supportive environment for growth.

(1) School's Major Concerns	:	1.To leverage technology to drive innovation in self-regulated learning. 2.To chart the path to well-being by cultivating resilience and thriving forward.
(2) School Management Organisation	:	School-based Management is adopted. Comprising three vice principals, panel heads and committee chairpersons, the School Development and Self-evaluation Committee formulates school development plans. Through regular meetings, middle managers device and supervise the implementation of plans and programmes. All teachers are encouraged to express their opinion and evaluate their work so that the quality of education provided can be maintained, contributing to the sustainable development and improvement of school.

(4) School Green Policy	:	We were awarded Innovation Award in the Ocean Park Conservation Alliance Programme. We purchase electrical appliances with Grade 1 Energy Label and install temperature sensors and timers to control the air-conditioners in the classrooms. We also work in line with the Environment Protection Policy of Po Leung Kuk. We hold inter-class competitions, talks and drama performances to enhance students’ awareness of environmental protection. In 2024-2025, our students joined the Green Prefect Programme organized by the Environmental Campaign Committee, with 3 students being awarded the Certificate of Appreciation and 3 students Outstanding Award. We also join the Jockey Club BEAM Plus in Schools Project to help reduce at least 10% carbon intensity, thus being granted Outstanding Performance in the category of Sustainable Campus Environment.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy	:	We have two classes using English as the medium of instruction at each junior level. For other junior classes, Mathematics and Science are taught in English and therefore students' English proficiency can be greatly improved. Small class teaching helps to enhance the English Language proficiency of students. Students are divided into small classes for the English lessons and there are altogether 33 teaching groups, which is conducive to individual counselling. The percentage of our students reaching Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language far exceeds the average of all candidates. Our morning assemblies are conducted in Cantonese, English and Putonghua. The English Panel works together with Geography, History and Life and Society Departments on language across the curriculum (LAC) to enhance students' ability and confidence to learn various subjects in English.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies	:	1. Learning and teaching: We empower students to harness the power of technology to drive innovation in self-regulated learning, placing emphasis on lesson preparation and note-taking skills. Our curriculum integrates AI platforms to enhance learning efficiency and provide personalized support. Through interactive and dynamic teaching approaches, we not only cultivate a love for learning but also focus on strengthening students' reading abilities and mastery of core subjects, ensuring a well-rounded and future-ready education. 2. Enhancement programmes in the junior forms: Starting from S.2, enhancement programmes for core subjects are provided to help students build stronger foundations in preparation for the HKDSE. 3. STEAM and gifted education: Gifted education programmes are available for the junior form students.
(3) School-based Curriculum	:	1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Students can also take Mathematics Extended Part Module 2 as an elective. 2. Curriculum highlights: We offer 10 subjects to cater for students' diverse interests. Small group learning and teaching are carried out in core subjects. Also, we offer school based STEAM courses and learning skills for junior form students. Arts Education and Career and Life Planning lessons are implemented at senior secondary levels.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum	:	1. Moral and Civic Education: Moral and Civic Education is integrated into form teacher periods, assemblies, 'Sunshine' lessons, talks and workshops are held regularly to instil positive values and mindset in students. 2. Reading to learn: An Extensive Reading Scheme and school-based awards boost students’ reading skills, requiring juniors and S.4 students to read 15 and 16 books yearly. Reading periods are scheduled, and the library remains open during holidays, with over $100,000 spent on new books annually. 3. Project learning: Co-curricular and project-based learning are encouraged, including annual field trips organized by the Chinese and Chinese History Departments. Geography and Biology students also participate in yearly field trips, with Biology students involved in after-school bio-engineering projects. 4. Information Technology for Interactive Learning: School-based STEAM programmes are offered in junior forms. Activities are designed to cultivate students' interest in innovative technology, thus enhancing students' ability to apply science, technology, engineering and mathematics in daily life. The programmes also encourage teamwork and the development of problem-solving skills embracing the challenges of the AI era. Through inter-school competitions, students' horizons are broadened. Our school has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in STEAM, earning numerous accolades in recent years, fully showcasing our students' exceptional abilities in innovation and technological application. In 2025, we won several awards, such as the Bronze Medal for Excellence in Information Clarity at the "Hong Kong InnoHealth Cup" hosted by the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong, underscoring our students' creativity and communication skills in the health technology sector. Our school also won the First Prize in the Hong Kong Regional Competition of the WeChat Mini Program Global Innovation Challenge. This competition, jointly initiated by Tencent and several authoritative organizations, focuses on AI programming with the aim of inspiring young people's innovative potential and using technology to address social issues.
(5) Life Planning Education	:	Since 2016, our school has participated in the Jockey Club Hong Kong’s “CLAP @ JC” program, receiving funding to establish a Career Counselling Room that supports career and life planning activities. In 2021, we introduced the Hong Kong Benchmarks for Career and Life Development (HKBM) to review and enhance our career planning efforts. From 2022, we became a resource school for the program, promoting professional exchanges with other schools, sharing effective career development strategies, enhancing teacher professionalism, and providing tailored career guidance to help students choose suitable further education or career paths. For students from junior to senior forms, we organize theme-based workshops and provide group and individual counseling to equip them with essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes, enabling informed decisions based on their interests and abilities. Senior students follow a school-based structured career planning course that develops skills to face future challenges. Additionally, we offer practical work-field experiences such as mock interviews, work experience programs, and internships with industry partners, allowing students to engage in real work settings and build workplace adaptability and interpersonal skills for their future careers.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity	:	The school actively promotes inclusive education and personalized support, implementing small class teaching and a dual-class teacher system for core junior secondary subjects to enhance individual care. Through positive education curricula and diverse activities, students are encouraged to recognize their character strengths and cultivate a sense of gratitude, thereby improving their well-being. In recent years, the school has focused on social-emotional learning, strengthening self-awareness and social awareness, promoting respect for differences and an inclusive culture. Mindfulness practices have also been introduced to help students regulate emotions, enhance concentration, and build resilience.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education	:	Established Student Support Team and appointed a senior teacher as SENCO. Emphasis on home-school cooperation, SST member as an executive member of PTA. Close liaison with school counselor, school social worker and educational psychologist. A case conference is held when necessary.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment	:	1. Formative assessment is adopted to inform students of their learning performance regularly and allow students to reflect on their learning. 2. A self-learning section is included in junior form examinations to promote self-regulated learning. 3. There are three examinations a year, with daily assessments. Students' performance is analysed in detail to improve learning and teaching.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation	:	Our PTA was set up in 1997. We arrange Parents Reading Club, positive education seminars and voluntary services for the elderly. Our parents act as role models to their children.
(2) School Ethos	:	With our belief in rigour and care, ensuring students’ good discipline is our major concern. Various disciplinary and guidance programmes are launched to regulate the behaviour of our students. Our students are appraised by their parents and neighbors.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan	:	1. To promote the integration of AI into teaching and learning, strengthen students' self-regulated learning strategies, enhance learning outcomes, and cultivate future talents. 2. To optimise the curriculum and promote language across curriculum; strengthen students' learning confidence, and enhance learning effectiveness. 3. Deepen and expand positive education by further promoting Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and mindfulness education, enabling students to face various challenges in their growth with perseverance and confidence. Create a caring and supportive learning environment where every student can embrace happiness and become the best version of themselves.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development	:	Teachers’ development is enhanced through development days of different themes, lesson co-planning and peer lesson observation. In order to turn our staff into a learning community, teachers are encouraged to take professional development courses.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.)	:	1. Leadership: Students' bodies and organisations such as the Student Union, School Prefects, Sunshine Buddies, Career and Life Planning Prefects, Student Ambassadors, Academic Prefects, Student Librarians, Campus Management Ambassadors, etc. 2. Extra-curricular activities: A total of over 40 school clubs are available. Each student is required to join at least one. Students are encouraged to participate in inter-school competitions and activities to broaden their horizons. Students get to learn various musical instrumental, dance and ball games. 3. Voluntary service: Service learning is promoted. Students from different forms are required to do voluntary work to serve the community. Our school participates in the V Go Easy Award Scheme organised by the Hong Kong Children & Youth Services. 4. Wu Chung Café and Wu Chung Tea Club have been set up to train students' patience and concentration. They also provide opportunities for students to serve and enhance their ability to appreciate different cultures. 5. Uniform groups are available: Scout, Student Flag Guard Team, Red Cross Youth—Youth Unit, Civil Aid Service, Customs YES and Immigration Department Youth Leaders Corps to add colours to students' school life. 6. Chinese Martial Arts Club (exposes students to the traditional Chinese culture. Not only does it enhance students' physical competence, but it also boosts students' self-discipline, resilience and perseverance. 7. Other learning experiences include art education, career and life planning programmes, community service and job shadowing and tasting programmes to broaden students' horizons.
Others	:	We set up a scholarship scheme with more than 40 items to award our students in different aspects, including academic achievements and improvements, good performance in sports and activities, good conduct and services etc. STEAM-related competitions, book report competitions etc. are some of our best activities. Many of our students have been awarded Outstanding Students Awards in Shatin and other outstanding student competitions. Our Chinese and English debating teams have obtained remarkable results. Our students have won various awards in Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and Hong Kong Schools Dance Festival. Also, one of our students won the Merit Award in 4.23 World Book Day and introduced her piece to Mr Kevin Yeung, GBS, JP, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism. We emphasise the importance of national education. Our students won the Champion in IDYL Director's cup organised by Immigration Department Youth Leaders Corps We organise study tours to Canada, Singapore, South Korea and various cities in China such as Yunnan and the Greater Bay Area.
