School Characteristics School Characteristics
School Management
(1) School's Major Concerns : 1. To cater for learner diversity and optimise differentiated instruction
2. To unleash students’ potential, optimize gifted education and provide students with a stage to showcase their talents
3. To safeguard students’ mental health, and sustain our school’s life and values education
(2) School Management Organisation : The School-based Management has been implemented. The Incorporated Management Committee formulates the school's direction of development and policies, and is responsible for supervising and managing the operation of the school. The domains of Learning and Teaching, Student Development and School Administration are led by the Principal. Under the different divisions, there are multiple functional groups which are responsible for implementing the school policies.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : The school has established an incorporated management committee.
(4) School Green Policy : Our school participates in “The school leasing a solar power generation system to participate in the feed-in tariff scheme”. We have installed solar panels on the rooftops of the school and the school hall. The solar photovoltaic system supplies power alongside the grid to support the school’s electricity needs. The electricity can also connect to the community grid, allowing other residents to share in its use, thereby promoting green energy.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : 1. Regarding the “Fine-tuning the Medium of Instruction for Secondary Schools” policy for junior secondary (Secondary 1 to 3), our school adopts Chinese as the medium of instruction for non-language subjects. In addition to conducting extended English teaching activities, we also implement the “allocation of time to subjects” arrangement. This allows junior secondary students who achieve excellent levels in English and overall academic performance to take Mathematics and Integrated Science classes taught in English.
2. The school values biliteracy and trilingualism. In addition to students performing exceptionally well in self-scripted English drama plays, we also encourage students to participate in language competitions in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, creating a conducive environment for language learning.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : 1. Differentiated Instruction: Chinese and English subjects use grouped, tiered teaching. English classes are split into six to seven ability-based groups per form across four classes, with after-school "enrichment and remedial classes" to reinforce learning. English lessons occur simultaneously across the form, with flexible grouping for single, multi-group, or whole-class teaching, adjusted based on students' progress and needs.
2. Enrichment Strategies: Targeted strategies boost English performance. Each form has two to three focused English groups, with teachers providing "Student Learning Progress Reports" post-assessment. Elite training programmes enhance English results. Inter-school oral training and writing programmes are held annually. The Chinese Department refines its curriculum with interdisciplinary. Both subjects offer Saturday 5** tutoring in small groups for public exam success, leading to record-high university admissions for bachelor’s degrees.
3. Curriculum Reform: Senior English teachers serve as curriculum consultants, revamping English curriculum design. Tiered teaching and tailored school-based materials for English and technology education enhance quality. A junior secondary ICT & STEAM curriculum includes three self-developed "STEAM Programming Material Sets" to help students master skills based on their needs.
4. External Opportunities: Gifted students are recommended for external support, such as fully sponsored summer courses by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s Applied Mathematics Department for Form 1 to Form 5 students excelling in mathematics.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: 2X. Students can choose Mathematics Extended Part (M2) or Applied Learning (Vocational English) as an additional elective subject. The school offers sufficient elective subjects and subject combinations for students according to their wishes and choices.
2. Curriculum highlights: The school provides a diversified curriculum for senior secondary students. Secondary Four students choose two elective subjects and M2 or Applied Learning (Vocational English) according to their interests and abilities. Students are allowed to replace one of the elective subjects with an Applied Learning subject when they are in Secondary Five. Courses in Information and Communication Technology and Science and Innovation, introducing artificial intelligence programming, Huawei HarmonyOS mobile programming, and basic Huawei cloud programming are offered to junior forms. This aims to enhance students' programming and innovation skills, allowing them to create works for participation in international competitions.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum : 1. Our school employs a whole-school approach focused on loving the country and Hong Kong, promoting patriotic education among staff and students. We enhance understanding of Chinese traditional culture, national history, and the twelve priority values through various learning experiences. Students are encouraged to participate in exchange programs in the Mainland to deepen their knowledge of the country’s history and culture. The school also serves as a training center for the Association of Hong Kong Flag-guards, supporting patriotic education initiatives. Last year, we organized 21 exchange tours, funding 570 students to participate in exchange programs to China to better understand the country’s current conditions and developments.
2. Our school is focused on promoting STEAM and Information Technology education through a partnership with Huawei. We launched an ICT talent training project and established the STEAM for Dream Lab, becoming Hong Kong's first "Technology Collaborative School." This initiative enhances student learning in IT, artificial intelligence, and programming, equipping classrooms with Huawei IdeaHub Board 2 and interactive blackboards, and introducing the "Boundless Classroom" teaching methodology. Additionally, we collaborated with Fudan University to offer drone technology and AI courses in the 2025-2026 academic year and became a pilot school for the A.I. big data application platform with iFLYTEK (Hong Kong).
(5) Life Planning Education : The school provides high-quality career planning education, guidance services and comprehensive life planning information in accordance with students' developmental needs at different stages, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding further studies or employment based on their interests, abilities, and aspirations. This helps them adapt to future workplace. In order to broaden students' horizons, the school has joined the "Pass the torch" program with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. Through career experience activities, such as an internship experience in a local soy sauce workshop, providing students with a variety of career and life planning education services and comprehensive information on further studies and employment.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : The school has established the Gifted Education Team dedicated to identifying students with potential. Through the Seeds of Mau Fung program, students are encouraged to establish personal learning and growth records, and to proactively seek challenging coursework from subject teachers, all in efforts to inspire students to pursue excellence. The learning guidance class is implemented in Secondary One to assist students in completing their assignments and consolidating classroom learning under teachers’ guidance. Chinese and English lessons are conducted in small groups to cater to the diverse learning needs of students. The school's Chinese and English subjects implement 'streamed and grouped teaching,' flexibly organizing students based on their learning abilities and needs. This targeted approach designs teaching content and pace to comprehensively address learning diversity. Additionally, after-school enrichment and remedial classes are held for each subject, providing appropriate support based on students’ individual needs.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : Our school adopts a whole-school approach to implement inclusive education. With the Student Support Team, we provide appropriate and diverse support services to enhance students' learning effectiveness and communication skills. The school also collaborates closely with the school-based educational psychologist and speech therapist, conducting regular individual meetings and student assessments. This enables us to develop appropriate intervention plans for students in need and to accommodate diverse learning needs through homework adjustments and assessments.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment : Assess students’ comprehensive performance with multiple assessment formats, providing students with appropriate feedback to enhance learning effectiveness. After assessments, arrange post-assessment follow-up tasks; utilise assessment data to identify students’ learning difficulties, adjust teaching strategies accordingly, so that students with different abilities can strive for excellence.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : Our school has always placed great importance on home-school co-operation. In addition to establishing regular communication channels with parents to maintain good and trusting relationships, we also regularly organise diverse parent activities to promote co-operation between parents and our school. Furthermore, our school is dedicated to offering parent education programs to meet parents’ needs, helping them acquire the knowledge and skills required to nurture their children at different stages.
(2) School Ethos : The school implements a whole-school approach to guidance and counselling, centered around the Mau Fung Student Development Framework. The goal is to cultivate students’ positive characters and leadership skills, fostering a caring and inclusive campus culture. In junior forms, a three-class teacher system is adopted, while in senior forms, a dual-class teacher system is implemented to ensure comprehensive support for students at different stages of development. This model integrates discipline and counselling, emphasising holistic development. While focusing on academic performance, we also pay attention to mental health and value cultivation. Through programmes like the 'three homeroom teachers' system for junior high, the 'dual homeroom teachers' system for senior high, Form 1 learning guidance classes, the 'I CAN' reward programme, an ice cream truck visit on the first day of school, the Form 6 farewell event, and the 'Scholar’s Porridge' gathering, we strive to provide diverse support, foster a caring campus atmosphere, and create a platform for students to showcase their talents. This helps students thrive in a family-like environment full of love and care, sparking their potential and letting them shine.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan : 1. Optimize the efficacy of teaching and learning to elevate students' knowledge and competencies.
2. Strengthen technology and innovation education, collaborating with leading tech companies and institutions to enhance students' innovation capabilities.
3. Offer diverse developmental opportunities and customized training to enable students to realize their potential, leverage their strengths, and establish their own platform for success.
4. To safeguard students’ mental health, and sustain our school’s life and values education
5. Deepen patriotic education to nurture students into outstanding citizens.
6. Foster a culture of care and compassion, providing comprehensive support to serve as students' most steadfast foundation, promoting their holistic growth and development.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : Our school is committed to promoting the professional development of teachers. In addition to participating in the Education Bureau's Seed Program and school-based support initiatives, we also collaborate with various tertiary institutions and the business sector on multiple projects. Moreover, our staff members are frequently invited by the Education Bureau and different institutions to attend seminars to share school-based experiences. Our school actively promotes teacher professional development activities to implement our school development plans and address relevant concerns. The English Department specially appoints a senior English consultant to provide professional advice on curriculum design and teaching methods, fostering the professional growth of the teaching team.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : 1. Our school focuses on sports development, harnesses potential, and leverages strengths, offering students a variety of learning experiences and has established 36 clubs and interest groups across different categories including uniformed groups, academic clubs, sports clubs, service groups, and art clubs. To cultivate students' interests in sports and art, they are required to a sports club, an art course and a uniformed group or a school team. Among them, our school's flag-raising team received a citywide award at the 2025 anniversary review ceremony for their outstanding marching performance, strict discipline, and overall training results.

We have a marching band that offers free instruments, instructors, classes, and competition fees to help students unlock their diverse potential. Before joining, members had no experience with musical instruments, just over a year after starting their lessons in March 2023, our marching band has been invited to participate in international competitions and perform around the world.
4. We also established the 'Mau Fung Cantonese Opera Troupe' to showcase student talents. Guided by experienced Cantonese opera actors, students learn to carry on this cultural heritage. In just one year, our opera troupe has won awards and frequently participates in external performances, with all costs covered by the school.
Others : 1. Between June 2024 and June 2025, our students proudly won a total of 320 external awards. This includes 6 international awards, 8 national awards, and 73 awards from the Greater Bay Area, with a total of 983 individual accolades.
