Secondary One Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life

Secondary One Admission	:	Our school will not accept discretionary places. Our school will not participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2026 ).
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life	:	The School will conduct Induction Programme for new students to participate in late August so as to ensure a smooth transition and prepare them for the new challenges. Students will be taught about food nutrition and how to eat smart through physical education and health management.

Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy	:	The Academy adopts English as the medium of instruction and the major communicative language. Chinese subject will be taught in Putonghua.

The Five Transdisciplinary Domains in the "Glocalized' Curriculum are Environment, Human Creativity, Learning Approach, Personal Growth, Social and Health Education, Society and Community Service. ICT-INFUSED INQUIRY-DRIVEN CURRICULUM-At LA, we use technology as a tool for improving students' learning and communication with teachers. “The 1:1 Program” requires Year 7 students to purchase their own MacBook. It aims to facilitate ICT-infused curriculum effectively and efficiently. A HOLISTIC APPROACH-At LA, there are no boundaries in learning. Learning is not confined to classrooms or laboratories. Aiming to ensure our students’ whole-person development, the school strived to foster their innate passion for learning, while encouraging them to explore their interest through a wide range of co-curricular activities. The school organizes different activities in music, sports, visual arts and food technology etc. which not only benefit students’ physical and mental well-being, but also instill the virtues of perseverance and self-discipline in them. We also organize Global Classroom activities, which include local and overseas learning tours. They emphasize on learning that cannot be experienced in the classroom.

(5) Life Planning Education	:	The Career Counselling Team coordinates the life planning program for all secondary students, with different focal points for each year level. Year 7: Enhance students' self-awareness (such as character strengths and personal talents), while also improving their time management and goal-setting skills. Year 8: Strengthen students’ self-understanding, guide them to discover their potential, explore their ideal jobs, and assist them in building up their personal profiles. Year 9: Help students to understand the different educational systems in our school, while guiding them to choose appropriate subjects in Senior School based on their strengths and interests. Year 10: Enhance students' understanding of work values and direction, guide them in setting goals, and help them plan how to achieve those goals. Year 11: Develop students' career aspirations and understanding of higher education, prepare them for applying to tertiary institutions, and guide them in preparing the necessary application documents. Year 12: Assist students in identifying their career interests and further study options, while also supporting them with the preparations for applying to tertiary institutions.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity	:	The school maintains close and ongoing home-school cooperation with regard to the students’ learning progress and needs. Split classes are arranged according to learning needs and in-class learning supports are available at all times. Learning support groups (e.g. Chinese/Mathematics remedial classes, social skills training, executive function training, career counselling group and animal assisted therapy group) are provided to help students with diverse learning needs. The Inclusive Learning Team works collaboratively with students, teaching staff, parents and other professionals to ensure whole school support. School also works along with the EDB on school-based support services, to provide comprehensive support to students and teachers, and promote an inclusive learning atmosphere.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education	:	A 3-tier support model is adopted by the Inclusive Learning Team (in collaboration with subject teachers, social workers, pastoral care team, school-based educational psychologist etc.) to cater for diverse learning needs including academic, social-emotional and behavioural difficulties. Tier 1: All teaching staff receive regular training to optimise teaching strategies. Early identification and intervention mechanisms are established. School holds parent workshops and meetings to facilitate home-school cooperation. Tier 2: School provides remedial, preventive and developmental group interventions to cater for students who need additional support. Tier 3: Individual Education Plan with individualised targets is designed for students who need Tier 3 support. Special assessment arrangements are provided to optimise students’ performance. Technological support (e.g. screen readers and speech-to-text) is also provided.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students	:	Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school; and our school uses Putonghua to teach Chinese in all classes / groups at certain levels with extra support as appropriate, e.g. pull-out/small-group classes, learning and teaching resources with Pinyin, etc. In addition, the school offers career planning activities for non-Chinese speaking students, including workshops, training sessions, company visits, and work experience programmes.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment	:	Students with special learning needs will be “pulled out” in a separate group to ensure they receive adequate support from teachers. Special examination arrangements will also be provided for them such as special examination room, extra time allowance, enlargement of exam paper prompter and use of screen reader etc.
(5) Fee Remission	:	Our school offers full school fee remission, 3/4, 1/2 or 1/4 school fee remission. Needy students, including those from families receiving the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) and students receiving financial assistance provided by the Student Financial Assistance Agency (SFAA) could apply for fee remission. Newly admitted students can apply for school fee remission within 30 days of enrolment. Remarks	:	ELCHK Lutheran Academy is a Direct Subsidy Scheme through-train school. We are running a total of 48 classes, including Primary One to Primary Six (4 classes in each level); Secondary One to Secondary Six (4 classes in each level) in the Secondary Section in the school year of 2025-2026.
