Secondary One Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life

Secondary One Admission	:	Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2026 ).1. Academic performance (50%), 2. Interview (20%), 3. Affiliation with our school (10%), 4. Extra-curricular activities (10%), 5. Services (10%).
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life	:	In July, our school will conduct an orientation seminar for S.1 parents, followed by a Orientation and Bridging Programs for S.1 students in August. The Orientation Program for S.1 students will feature adventure activities and icebreaker games, while the Bridging Program will encompass subjects like Chinese, English, Mathematics as well as Music Appreciation, with the goal of providing a strong foundation for new S.1 students over the summer. To foster appropriate values, build resilience, and promote awareness of healthy living among S.1 students, our school actively participates in the 4Rs Mental Health Charter and the Healthy Campus Policy.

School Management
(1) School's Major Concerns	:	1. Enhance the Effectiveness of Learning and Teaching. 2. Promote Students' Physical and Psychological Well-Being.
(2) School Management Organisation	:	The School Management Committee (SMC) is set up to make school-based decisions regarding administrative and management policies. The School's Policy & Executive Committee and different functional groups help to facilitate the integration of teaching and learning.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee	:	Our School Management Committee (SMC) was set up in 1999. It now consists of 10 members, including the Chairman (assigned by EDB), the School Principal, 2 parent representatives, 2 representatives from the Alumni Association, 2 independent members and 2 teacher representatives. Under normal circumstances, three meetings are held every year to discuss and report on major school matters.
(4) School Green Policy	:	The school attaches much importance to environmental education which aims to promote energy saving. The Green Wall, renewable energy projects at rooftop and library rooftop greening project have been completed. Our school's Environmental Education Committee is responsible for promoting various educational initiatives for students. In addition to regular classes, different subject departments also implement environmental education through various activities to enhance students' awareness of environmental protection.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy	:	Our school actively implements the 'Biliterate and Trilingual' policy. All English and Putonghua teachers have passed the benchmark assessment. Most subjects are taught in Cantonese. Putonghua is offered in the junior forms. Our school implements Language Across the Curriculum (LAC) and Reading Across the Curriculum (RaC) programmes, through which students conduct project research, writing, and presentations in English to enhance their language proficiency. Students may also choose to take their HKDSE examinations in Physics and Chemistry in English.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies	:	Our school promotes experiential learning. Various theme-based activities are organized, such as English Learning Week and interdisciplinary project studies, to address diverse student needs and foster motivation. For junior secondary students, English phonics exercises, board games in Chinese, English, Mathematics, English debating presentation class and English Drama, all of which contribute to a comprehensive learning experience. The Chinese, English, and other subjects employ online self-learning platforms to allows students to progress at their own pace and to enhance self-directed learning in a gradual manner.
(3) School-based Curriculum	:	1. Electives: 2X. Elective groups are arranged according to the interests and abilities of students, including Chinese History, Economics, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business, Accounting and Financial Studies, Design and Applied Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Tourism and Hospitality Studies, Health Management and Social Care, Visual Arts, as well as four Applied Learning courses and Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET). Students may also opt to include Math Extended Part 2 in their curriculum. 2. Curriculum highlights: Our school offers a selection of 12 elective subjects including Chinese History, Economics, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business, Accounting and Financial Studies, Design and Applied Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Tourism and Hospitality Studies, Health Management and Social Care, and Visual Arts. We also provide four Applied Learning Courses including Computer Game and Animation Design, Aviation Studies, Hospitality Services in Practice, and Interior and Exhibition Design, catering to the diverse interests and abilities of our students.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum	:	Our school offers 12 elective subjects and the Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) is also an option for Senior Form students. Diverse interdisciplinary courses include e-Learning Courses, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Junior Achievement (JA), Youth Entrepreneurship Program, and Alibaba Design Course are provided to assist students with early career planning and goal setting while enhancing their motivation for learning.
(5) Life Planning Education	:	Our school is dedicated to assisting students in understanding themselves, setting goals and developing positive values to foster strong work attitudes. Life-planning Education Programmes provide students with a comprehensive understanding of workplace to enable them to explore their career aspirations. The Pilot Scheme of the Vocational Training Council provides vocational education for our students. We integrate work-related elements into our curriculum for realizing their potential. In addition, our Parent Education Programmes empower parents to provide effective career guidance for their children.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity	:	To strengthen support for student diversity and enhance learning effectiveness, after-school tutorials are organized with the support of the School-based After-school Learning and Support Programmes. Courses focused on language enhancement and academic improvement are offered. Collaborative teaching methods are implemented to boost students' motivation for learning. A full commitment to inclusive education is maintained, respecting individual differences. Experts and teaching assistants are hired to address the special educational needs of each student and to organize activities and programmes for those in need.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education	:	The school fosters Inclusive Education through a "Whole School Approach" to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Learning Support Grants (LSG) is used for hiring teaching assistants and for purchasing services for SEN students, for instance, hiring Clinical Psychologist and Counsellor to help students with emotional problems. Our Social Workers also provide guidance support for students with emotional needs. Remedial classes in Chinese, English, and Mathematics. Adaptations for homework are provided. Meetings regarding Individual Education Plans (IEP) are conducted.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students	:	Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school. We organise pull-out programme for Non-Chinese speaking students in their Chinese lessons. We also provide supplementary Chinese lessons for Non-Chinese speaking students to support their preparation for the HKDSE.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment	:	Both continuous and summative assessments are adopted to evaluate students' performance and for reviewing teachers' instructional strategies. Each year, two uniform tests and two examinations are conducted, along with frequent quizzes administered by subject teachers. Project Learning is implemented to help develop students' generic skills. For students in S.4 - S.6, academic performance is assessed according to HKDSE requirements. Special examination arrangements are provided to support students in the most conducive environment.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation	:	The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) collaborates closely with the school to ensure high-quality education for students. To foster better communication and interaction between parents and the school, the PTA holds regular meetings. It organizes a variety of activities, including educational seminars for parents, collaborative events, and parent-child outings. These initiatives aim to enhance parental education, improve communication between parents and their children, and strengthen the partnership between home and school. Parents were often invited to engage in different school activities to further solidify this connection. Furthermore, the School Management Committee includes two parent representatives, elected by the PTA members, which encourages more active parental participation in school governance.
(2) School Ethos	:	The Discipline Team not only enforces strict adherence to rules and regulations, but also makes concerted efforts to enhance students' self-confidence. The Guidance Team collaborates with the Academic Affairs Committee to organize the S.1 Orientation and Bridging Programme. Outstanding alumni provide on-the-job training and leadership development programmes, and have established scholarships. The Alumni Association and the Parent-Teacher Association are committed to supporting the school, contributing to the growth of students and the promotion of a positive school culture.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan	:	Our school has been a co-educational institution since September 2009. We organize a wide range of activities to promote holistic development among our students. Furthermore, our school will continue to strengthen partnerships with universities and communities to optimize resources for our students. The Major Concerns for the School Development Plan from 2024 to 2027 are as follows: 1. Enhance the Effectiveness of Learning and Teaching. 2. Promote Students’ Physical and Psychological Well-Being.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development	:	Induction programmes for new teachers and experience-sharing sessions are conducted regularly, with a particular emphasis on effective teaching and learning practices. Teachers are encouraged to participate in courses and seminars to enhance their professional knowledge. Our school organizes both school-based and joint-school staff development activities. Various talks, discussions, school visits and sharing sessions are held to keep teachers abreast of the latest developments in education.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.)	:	Our school provides students with a diverse and comprehensive learning experience. Through the four Houses and over thirty clubs and interest groups, we organize various extracurricular and inter-school activities that enrich students' intellectual development, values education, community service, physical and artistic development, as well as career-related experiences. To promote personal growth and self-discipline, S.1 students are required to participate in training for uniformed groups.
Others	:	Students are encouraged to engage in a wide range of Extra-Curricular Activities, which encompass areas such as music, dance, sports, speech, writing competitions and English debating competitions. The Alumni Association, Parent-Teacher Association, retired principals and teachers, distinguished alumni, community friends, and other organizations have provided scholarship. They provide sponsorship for outbound learning activities. The alumni contribute to the alma mater by delivering speeches, sharing experiences, establishing scholarships, providing sponsorships and introduce a mentorship programme.
