Secondary One Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life

Secondary One Admission	:	Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2026 ).Academic performance (30%), Conduct (25%), Extra-curricular activities (15%), Interview performance (30%).
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life	:	Orientation Day for 'New Secondary One Students and Parents is arranged to foster parents' and students' understanding of the school. The 'Secondary One bridging course’ and 'Promotion to Secondary One Oriented course’ comprise a diversified learning bridging programme for new Secondary One students. These orientation weeks not only aim to help new students understand and adapt to secondary school life, but also to give them an opportunity to refresh and consolidate their previous learning outcome, as well as to prepare them for new challenges. The School organises large scale activities, expert talks, diversified group activities, curriculum integration, and class-based management strategies to cultivate positive values and attitudes among students. (1) School's Major Concerns	:	1. Focus on students' whole-person development, foster proactive and positive attitudes. 2. (2) School Management Organisation	:	The School Sponsoring Body manages the School professionally. It has a clear vision and is dedicated to student growth. It advocates communication at all levels for the benefit of maximising the learning experience of students. It also supports a comprehensive appraisal system to drive the professionalism and quality of the teaching team.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee	:	The IMC, comprising church ministers, retired and serving school principals, university professors, university management board members and alumni; supervises the planning and management of the educational policies, finance and human resources of the School.
(4) School Green Policy	:	We value Environmental Education. Activities are organised systematically to arouse the environmental awareness of students. Waste recycling is actively implemented. Recycling bins are provided in the classrooms and playgrounds. Recycled paper is used for printing and air conditioners are used responsibly.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy	:	The School primarily adopts mother-tongue teaching and focuses on enhancing our students' competency in English. The English department strives to promote an English learning environment, such as organising Summer Immersion Programmes in Vancouver and the UK, to provide more opportunities for students to be exposed to English. Putonghua lessons are arranged in junior forms to nurture the fluency in Putonghua and raise their confidence in communicating with others.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies	:	A student-centered approach is adopted as our school prioritises students' abilities and interests to boost their academic achievements. The junior form curriculum caters students’ diverse needs. After-school tutoring support is provided as one of the support strategies in differential teaching, to maximise student’s potential. The school offers various subjects in senior forms, including Applied Learning, to cater different learning interests. Extensive Reading programs are promoted to foster a love for reading and enhancement in language abilities. Reading reward coupons are rewarded to students for them to redeem their favourite books during school book fairs. BYOD is promoted to enhance teaching and learning effectiveness through technology, fostering inter-class interaction, self-directed learning, development of problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity	:	Language Enhancement Classes: These classes support students with weaker language proficiency, helping them strive for academic excellence. Study Groups: Within each class, students are divided into smaller study groups to encourage self-directed learning and reinforce their understanding of the curriculum. Scholarships and Financial Aid: Various scholarships and financial assistance schemes are available to subsidize students participating in academic exchange programs. After-school enrichment classes are also offered to provide the best preparation for admission to tertiary institutions. Catering to Individual Needs: Differentiated Teaching: Group teaching is implemented in junior forms, while medium- and small-class teaching is introduced in senior forms to lower the teacher-student ratio, addressing the diverse learning needs of students. Senior students select elective subjects based on their interests and abilities to achieve optimal learning outcomes. Specialised Support Services: 1. A speech therapy group supports students with language difficulties. 2. A social skills group enhances students’ interpersonal abilities. 3. Multiple on-site social workers provide counselling services and organise guidance activities. 4. Adaptation programmes and English courses are specifically designed to assist newly arrived students in adjusting to school life.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education	:	The school provides various support and services to foster an inclusive and harmonious campus culture. External services, including speech therapy and social training groups, are available to meet diverse student needs. The Student Support Team, consisting of a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), trained teachers, educational psychologist and social workers, collaborates with frontline teachers to enhance teaching standards to tiered support students. We employ a school-based approach with flexible resource allocation to support students with special educational needs. Core subject teachers adopt differential teaching strategies, emphasise and consolidate key teaching points to tiered support students, consolidating their foundations. Home-school cooperation is highly valued, with counseling teachers maintaining close communication with parents to understand students' needs. We offer adaptation courses for new students, conduct parent workshops to exchange educational ideas and gather feedback.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students	:	Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment	:	Various types of assessments are implemented. Regular tests, assignments, oral reports, experimenting activities and project learning are included to assess the overall academic performances of students. Students can track their learning progress clearly. To consolidate students’ learning outcome, 2 uniform tests and 2 examinations per year are arranged. Post examination evaluation days are arranged to provide feedback for students, review learning and teaching effectiveness and adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Our school adopts competence-based class grouping policy to reduce learner diversity within classes. This policy is also an effective way for teachers to adapt the curriculum, design appropriate assignments to consolidate students’ learning and teaching effectiveness.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation	:	The school has developed a partnership with parents in trust and openness. In order to let parents understand more about the learning situations of their children, they are encouraged to participate in the School's administration. The school organises various kinds of forums, including S.1 new students and parents' orientation day, PTA Annual General Meeting and breakfast meetings with the principal. To coordinate with the development of Other Learning Experiences (OLE), a number of diversified activities are organised for parents and students. For example, family day trips, Christmas gathering, educational talks, and different types of interest courses and workshops. Apart from giving out scholarships and financing students' extra-curricular activities, the PTA also prepares cards and gifts for teachers during Teachers' Week. Furthermore, a volunteer team is set up by the PTA to organise charity events and assist school functions.
(2) School Ethos	:	The school fully implements a caring yet disciplined, campus culture with a harmonious relationship between teachers and students. (2) Teacher Professional Training and Development	:	To align with curriculum reforms, all teachers in our school have consistently participated in seminars and workshops organised by the Education Bureau, sponsoring bodies, and other educational institutions. Furthermore, the school conducts multiple professional development days each year, offering various training programmes. Academic experts and representatives from the Education Bureau are invited to hold lectures and workshops, aiming to enhance teachers’ professional knowledge and skills. Our school has always placed significant emphasis on collaborative teaching. For many years, whole-school collective lesson planning sessions have been implemented, with subject panel heads leading discussions among subject teachers to co-design lesson plans and share teaching achievements. Additionally, teachers are encouraged to engage in peer lesson observations, either within the same subject or across different subjects, followed by comprehensive reviews and evaluations. This fosters the sharing of teaching experiences, ultimately improving teaching effectiveness.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.)	:	Our school is dedicated to organising a wide range of activities to cater to the diverse learning needs of our students. We strive to broaden students’ horizons, inspire their potential, and encourage them to explore various opportunities, thereby building self-confidence and fostering aspirations for success. The activities are categorised into religious, academic, service, sports, arts, recreational, and personal growth domains. Examples include media production, golf, commercial photography, and youth volunteer groups. To ensure all students benefit, these diverse learning activities have been incorporated into the formal timetable, requiring every student to participate in at least two activities during the designated multi-learning periods. Additionally, we actively promote Life-wide Learning Days, with each form focusing on different themes covering areas such as languages, mathematics, humanities, career planning, and volunteer services. These initiatives aim to uncover students’ potential, encourage early life planning, and nurture their dreams.
Others	:	Our school not only prioritises academic achievements but also excels in areas such as sports, arts, innovation and technology, Chinese medicine, and leadership development. 1. Sports a. Volleyball: Renowned as the "Shaolin Temple of Volleyball," our volleyball team has won multiple championships, earning a stellar reputation. Alumna Ms YANG Sau Mei made history by joining the Rangsit Volleyball Club in Thailand, becoming Hong Kong's first professional female volleyball player. b. Dodgeball: Despite being newly established, the dodgeball team has achieved remarkable results in competitions such as the Hong Kong Inter-School Dodgeball New Talent Championships, Hong Kong Inter-School Dodgeball District Competition, and Men's Biore Pre-Season Inter-School Dodgeball Tournament. c. Track and Field, Swimming: Our track and field and swimming teams have consistently won numerous awards in inter-school competitions. 2. Arts a. Visual Arts: The Visual Arts Department is committed to nurturing students' artistic talents. Many students have won gold and silver awards in prestigious competitions, such as the Pegasus Cup Hong Kong Art Competition, the Baroque Art Prize, the Black and White Painting Competition, and Show Your Colours! - Contemporary Youth Arts Contest. Notable achievements include student DONG Yinuo EMMA winning the gold medal at the Bauhinia Cup Painting Competition and XU Tsz Yuet winning a gold award in the global finals of the Baroque Art Prize. b. Music: The Chinese Percussion Team, part of the Pui Ying Chinese Music Orchestra, was awarded the Gold Prize at the Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows for their performance of Glory of Pui Ying. Established in the 1950s as a Silver Band, the Symphonic Band has since evolved and achieved remarkable success, winning the championship at the Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows Symphonic Band Competition, organised by the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, for three consecutive years.　The Harmonica Team has won numerous awards in inter-school competitions. Alumnus Mr LEE Chun Lok brought glory to Hong Kong by defeating 65 competitors worldwide to claim the championship in the Chromatic Harmonica Solo (Adult Division) at the 8th World Harmonica Festival in Germany. c. Photography: The Photography Club has received multiple awards, hosted exhibitions, and organised cultural photography tours and workshops. The club has also supported students in publishing personal photography collections. 3. Innovation and Technology a. Drone Education: ○ In recent years, the school has made significant advancements in drone education. Our students have consistently achieved top-three rankings in various competitions, including the Hong Kong FPV Challenge 2024, the Kowloon City FPV Drone Soccer Competition, the Hong Kong FPV Drone Race Competition, the Interschool Drone Soccer Competition, the MultiGT UTT Drone Competition, and the DNTFPV GBA STAGE 03 Drone Soccer Competition 2024. ○ Notably, our student WANG Yixuan excelled in the 15th National Games Mass Participation Event (Aviation Modelling) of HKSAR’s Athlete Representative Selection Competition, earning the championship title in the Indoor Rubber-Powered Glider (F1D-P) category. b. Tech Collaboration: Collaborating with Cyberport’s Future Now initiative, the school promotes professional innovation and technology activities, training students to become the next generation of knowledge influencers. 4. Leadership a. Students actively participate in leadership programmes such as the Southern District "Reach The Top" Student Leadership Development Programme and the Southern District Outstanding Youth Award Scheme. b. Notable achievements include QIN Tsz Ki winning the Bronze Award for "Potential Student Leader" and MAN Tak Ming Leo receiving the Southern District Outstanding Youth Excellence Award. 5. Chinese Medicine Education a.
