Secondary One Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life

Secondary One Admission	:	Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2026 ).Admission Criteria and Weightings for S.1 Discretionary Places: Interview (40%), Academic Results (30%), Conduct (15%), Extra-curricular/Co-curricular Activities and Services (15%).
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life	:	S.1 Parent Orientation Day and S.1 Student Adaptation Course will be held at the beginning of each new school year. Our school places great emphasis on students' physical and mental health. Year-round experience sharing in the morning assemblies, health talks, lunch programs are arranged in order to encourage more interaction between teachers and students so that students understand the importance of balanced diets, regular exercise and a well-disciplined life.

School Management
(1) School's Major Concerns	:	Our school stresses the importance of spiritual and religious education for students to achieve whole-person development.
(2) School Management Organisation	:	School-based management is implemented and the communication between different stakeholders is emphasized. Teachers and parents are involved in the decision-making process over school policies through the elected representatives in the School Management Committee. Parent-Teacher Association, Students' Union and Alumni Association have been set up to facilitate communication process.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee	:	The school incorporated management committee consists of fifteen persons, including 7 sponsoring body managers, 1 alternate sponsoring body manager, principal (ex-officio manager), independent manager, teacher manager, alternate teacher manager, alumni manager, parent manager and alternate parent manager
(4) School Green Policy	:	Our school places great emphasis on environmental protection, promoting campus beautification, energy conservation, and resources recycling programme. These efforts are categorized into four aspects: greening the campus, keeping the campus clean, recycling waste and conserving resources.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy	:	Our school strives to enhance students' biliterate and trilingual ability. Different medium of instruction made is used according to student's abilities. In most of the subjects taught in Chinese, Extended Learning Activities in English are induced so as to enhance student's English proficiency. There is a Language Week annually. A wide variety of Chinese, English and Putonghua activities are provided. Our school also participates actively in the Hong Kong Speech Festival and activities organized by the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research. Besides, our school implements one English Day per week, organizes regular English activities, creates English speaking environment, establishes English Study Tour Incentive Scheme and overseas exchange programmes. The purpose of these schemes is to encourage students to enhance their English proficiency and to experience using English in an English speaking country.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies	:	We cater for students with learning diversity. Small-class teaching is established in junior forms according to students' ability. English and Mathematics enhancement and remedial courses are provided for students. There are standard procedures to aid those who fail in the assessments. Through peer lesson observation and collaborative lesson preparation, our teachers introduce innovative teaching methods, refine classroom design and enhance teaching effectiveness . Life-wide Learning Day is organized for students every year. We also provide outings for students through the "Learning Outside Campus Scheme" which aims to broaden their scope in learning. We value continuous assessment. There is an Examination and Assessment Team to coordinate related tasks. Class participation and daily homework are assessed and counted as a portion of the examination marks.
(3) School-based Curriculum	:	1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Our school has set up 15 elective subjects. Student can choose 2-3 subjects to study according to their abilities and interests.Students enroll in Applied Learning Course may attend classes offered by other organizations. 2. Curriculum highlights: i) Tailor-made curriculum is provided for junior form students to suit their learning ability. ii) For exam and assessment, enhancement questions are added in the test and exam papers to cater for learners' diversity. iii) The junior secondary curriculum includes an Integrated Humanities subject, which consolidates various disciplines and topics within the humanities to create a more systematic approach to teaching and learning. Additionally, a Values Education and Chinese Culture subject is offered, enabling students to learn in a more structured manner. iv) Values Education.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum	:	1. Reading to Learn: In order to promote reading habits, the school implements the Morning Reading Scheme under which students take turns to read in the company of a class teacher three times per week. Additionally, the Reading is Fun Award Scheme is established to foster an interest in reading. S.1 students attend an Introductory Library Tour to acquire basic skills in using the library resources and services. Book exhibitions and writers' talks are held regularly to increase students' exposure to reading. 2. Gradually implement Teams as the integrated e-learning platform: our school launches a BYOD pilot scheme for F.5 students with the aim of cultivating students information literacy and information technology application skills. 3. Based on the features of individual subjects Independent Enquiry Study is introduced to develop student's generic skills and problem-solving skills. 4. Moral and Civic Education: Weekly flag-raising ceremonies with "Speech under the National Flag" session. Our department also organizes "Love and Life Education" Scheme, "Love for Hong Kong" lectures, New Momentum for Growth, Life Education initiatives and various activities such as anti-drug sharing events and cross border study tours with the purpose of cultivating students ‘perseverance, respect for others, sense of responsibility, national identity, integrity, commitment, benevolence, law-abiding conduct, empathy, diligence, solidary and filial piety.
(5) Life Planning Education	:	Our school has adopted the whole school approach to promote students’ self learning and self exploration. We assist students in goal setting, self management and life planning in order to facilitate their search for career paths. We aim to enhance students’ understanding of the workplace and their career options by hosting a Career Sharing Day and inviting alumni from diverse aspects to share their insights. In doing so, we have provided career aptitude tests, career experiencing workshops and invited alumni to share with students their work experience. To help students better plan their future and familiarize students with multiple career paths, our school has organized talks and seminars to give students advice on study or career choices. In addition, students have opportunities to visit local colleges and universities, join overseas study tours and attend mock interviews after the release of the DSE results.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity	:	Some of the Chinese, English, Mathematics and Science teachers have received Special Educational Needs training.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education	:	Student Support Team provides support programmes for students with special educational needs, including outsourced services such as writing and social skills training and speech therapy. Additionally, examination arrangements are made for these students during internal and external examinations, and individualised learning plans will be developed for certain students if necessary. Students are referred for assessment and follow-up by educational psychologists from Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong. The school also conducts case study meetings to help teachers identify students with special educational needs early on, facilitating referrals to educational psychologists. The Student Support Team organizes various inclusive activities to foster a culture of inclusion within the school. Students can participate in a variety of group activities and receive support from "Love Ambassadors," helping them build positive values, improve interpersonal relationships, and enhance their self-confidence. Senior form students are provided with career planning courses that include visits, individual interviews, group workshops, and work experience opportunities, enabling them to better understand themselves and plan for their future. Our school has established a Student Support Team, led by the Special Educational Needs Coordinator, who helps the team plan, implement, and supervise support work for students with special educational needs. Special Educational Needs Support Teachers help implementing an "All-Inclusive" model of inclusive education, systematically and coherently linking the three tiers of support to enhance students' learning effectiveness.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students	:	Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school. "Grant for Supporting Non-Chinese Speaking Students with Special Educational Needs" provides assistance to help these students improve their social skills and integrate into the school community.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment	:	Apart from regular lessons, Chinese, English and Mathematics enrichment classes are organized after school. To cater for learners' diversity, split class and small class teaching are implemented in core subject areas of Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics in both junior and senior forms. In the exams, extra time and the use of screen reader and speech-to-text software are given accordingly to students with special educational needs. Individualised learning plans will be formulated for students when necessary.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation	:	The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), was established in 1995, aims to: 1. organize school activities in collaboration with the school, such as Teachers' Day and School Picnic. 2. promote students' whole-person development and life-wide learning experience through setting up a Student Award Scheme. 3. participate in school affairs, such as giving advice in choosing the lunchbox provider. 4. organize workshops for interested parents to improve parenting and interpersonal skills.
(2) School Ethos	:	The school values a disciplined learning atmosphere. The Discipline and Counseling Committee have set up a Student Award and Punishment Scheme for promoting students' self-discipline and self-study skills. Through the activities organized by different teams under the Student Development Committee, students are nurtured morally with correct values, together with a healthy school life and caring culture at school. In order to help students to know more about God, our school put great emphasis on students' spiritual growth, which will in turn help them to develop an all-round personality.

(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development	:	The Teacher Professional Development Team is responsible for teachers’ development and training. It provides school-based teacher development activities every school year, including: School-based new teachers’ workshop, seminars, special lectures and teaching experience sharing, etc. The purpose is to enhance the professional level of teachers and to offer students with appropriate education.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.)	:	There are more than 40 clubs offering a wide range of activities including religious, physical, aesthetic, academic, recreational and social service.
Others	:	Our school offers four scholarships annually to students with the aim of fostering all-round personal development. They are: Joseph Wong Memorial Scholarship, Chu Wong Hop Yau Memorial Scholarship, Chu Chiu Sen Bing Priscilla Memorial Scholarship, Alumni Scholarships for S.4 Students and Maurice Lee’s English Outstanding Award. These scholarships are bestowed on students with outstanding academic performance, good conduct and discipline, excellent records of community services and extra-curricular activities. Additionally, the school offers overseas study programmes, where teachers lead students on excursions and pilgrimages. Our school’s Form Six students won the Second Prize at PolyU lgniting Social Innovation Competition 2025, awarded by Dr. Choi Yuk Lin(Director of the Education Bureau) and Professor Teng Jin-Guang( the Principal of The H.K. Polytechnic University).
Our School’s Men’s Volleyball Team clinched third place in the 2024-2025 Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Volleyball Tournament.
