Our Mission: The mission of St. Joseph's College is to impart a Human and Christian education to those entrusted to our care within the Lasallian family, and to do so with Faith and Zeal.
We strive to educate students in areas of moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic and emotional development. This process will take place in an environment conducive to learning and in the context of interaction between staff and students.

School Facilities : Each classroom is fitted with air-conditioners and multi-media facilities. In order to promote e-Learning, our school implements "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD) and utilises a WiFi-6 network system. The school campus at 7 Kennedy Road is divided into 2 wings, the 4-storey Old Building, and the 7-storey New Building. The new annex at 26 Kennedy Road was opened in 2018. Apart from the aforementioned facilities, in order to facilitate students in study and activities, the school also provides other special rooms: Library (with theatre), 5 Laboratories & Preparation Rooms, English Corner, Chinese Corner, Reading Room, Art Room, School Chapel, Music Hall & Instrument Room, 600-seat New Hall, 400-seat Old Hall, 3 Meeting Rooms, 2 Social Workers' Rooms, Discipline & Counseling Room, Extra-curricular Activity Hub, Students' Union Room, Rooms for various service groups, 3 Basketball Courts, 2 Football Pitches and Fitness Room. Secondary One Admission : Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2026 ).(A) Performance in primary school as revealed in academic and EDB's rank order (25%), ECA and awards (15%) and conduct (10%). (B) Performance in interview (50%).
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : S.1 Bridging Courses, S.1 Orientation Programme, Freshman Day and S.1 Parent Orientation Talk are offered. We aim to meet the needs of every single student by having a balanced diet, good physique as well as staying emotionally and psychologically healthy to resist temptation, build their emotional resilience and take up challenges ahead. Therefore, the school's Academic Administration Committee, National Education Team, Values Education Team, Counselling Team, School Discipline Board, Careers Team, Parent-Teacher Association and School Canteen Management Committee will work in collaboration to provide a desirable learning environment for our students.

(2) School Management Organisation : School-based management is implemented by the Incorporated Management Committee, comprising principal, supervisor, SSB manager, teacher manager, parent manager, alumni manager, independent manager. Curriculum planning and organisation, the development of information technology, extra-curricular activities, moral development of students and home-school relation are administered by corresponding committees in the school.

Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : Besides Chinese Language, Putonghua, Chinese History, Japanese and French, all lessons are conducted in English. In order to enable students to have a balanced development in English, Chinese and PTH, the Language Policy Committee has closely coordinated the development of these language subjects in the past few years. With the clear goal of nurturing and developing individuals who are both bi-literate and tri-lingual, various language activities have been held throughout the year, including different reading schemes for Chinese and English books, participation in the annual Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival, story-telling competitions, Chinese Cultural Trip, Putonghua Trip and English Immersion Trip.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : Beyond emphasizing students' language competency—particularly bi-literacy and tri-lingualism—our school is dedicated to fostering holistic and all-round individual development. We strive to cultivate active and responsible learning attitudes, critical thinking skills, social awareness, and a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to community service.

We implement small-class teaching for Chinese, English, and Mathematics to ensure personalized attention and enhanced learning outcomes. Our comprehensive reading initiatives include the iRead self-directed reading programme, reading achievement awards, extensive reading schemes, and collaborative book-sharing sessions. Additionally, we host regular book exhibitions to broaden students' literary exposure and inspire a lifelong love of reading.

(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum : We have integrated the Major Renewed Emphases into our school curriculum to equip students with the essential skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values needed to flourish in our rapidly evolving world.
Moral, national, Basic Law, and national security education are seamlessly woven throughout our curriculum. Through this integrated approach, we cultivate responsible citizens who make meaningful contributions to society. Our comprehensive framework strengthens students' understanding of Chinese history, culture, and values through classroom instruction, educational trips, and cultural activities, fostering deeper connections to their heritage and broadening their cultural identity.
We have expanded our Reading to Learn programme to embrace Language across the Curriculum, encouraging students to apply their linguistic skills across diverse contexts while enhancing their capacity for clear expression and critical thinking.
We have also prioritized STEAM education. Students explore scientific concepts through hands-on experiments, competitive opportunities and digital literacy development, preparing them for future challenges and possibilities. We also encourage students to utilize artificial intelligence to enhance their learning.
We are committed to nurturing entrepreneurial thinking, providing students with the mindset and capabilities to pursue innovative solutions and create meaningful value. This philosophy permeates our curriculum through projects and activities that promote creativity, problem-solving, and business understanding.
Through the generous support of our alumni network, we offer diverse professional experiences that expose students to various career pathways, enabling them to make well-informed decisions about their futures.
For our gifted learners, we provide enriched and challenging programmes designed to help them reach their full potential. These specialized opportunities allow students to explore subjects that ignite their interests and showcase their talents.
We have strengthened Chinese as a Second Language instruction, supporting non-native speakers’ journey toward Chinese proficiency and facilitating their integration into local culture.
(5) Life Planning Education : We aim:
1. To incorporate career and life planning education into school curriculum and activities.
2. To assist students in making wise and informed career decisions with reference to students' interests, abilities and preferences.
3. To raise students' awareness of the importance of life-long career development planning.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : In order to cater to students with different learning abilities and learning needs, we have launched Student Mentoring Programme and Peer Counselling Scheme to provide help to new students and students in need. In addition, small-class teaching has been adopted in the teaching of Chinese, English and Mathematics.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : Our school is committed to developing an inclusive culture through the Whole School Approach (WSA) to support students with special education needs (SEN). To enhance their learning effectiveness and assist their social inclusion at school, the Learning Support Grant (LSG) is deployed to provide appropriate and diversified support to them.
Our Student Support Team is composed of the Vice Principal, Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), Special Educational Needs Support Teacher (SENST), Educational Psychologist (EP), teachers and student counsellor.
Our school has utilized the LSG to employ SENST and student counsellor to cater for learner diversity, follow up and understand the students’ needs on a regular basis. Teachers are also required to take courses to promote their professional development and their expertise in helping students with career and life planning. Besides, we acquire different services like speech therapy for students with speech and language impairment, social skills support group and bullying prevention support group for students with poor social skills or weak emotional expression, as well as seminars on Integrated Education for cultivating an inclusive learning environment.
We also make adjustments to learning tasks and tests for students in need. With assistance from the EP, corresponding assessments and assistance is carried out, followed by meetings on Individual Education Plan. The collaboration helps students to develop concrete and feasible learning plans.
Nevertheless, we treasure home-school cooperation and have established regular communication channels to facilitate parents’ participation in the formulation of supportive strategies for students with SEN.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school. Our school also utilises 'Grant for Supporting Non-Chinese Speaking Students with Special Educational Needs' to support our Non-Chinese students.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment : There are two exams and two assessment tests per annum. Besides, continuous assessment and project learning are adopted to assess students' academic performance and generic skills.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : PTA Formation: Established in 1995, the Parent-Teacher Association serves to act as a direct linkage between parents, teachers and Josephians. Meetings are held where ideas and suggestions are exchanged between the school authority and members of the Executive Committee. A wide range of meaningful and educational activities like the Parent Child Outing, Annual Dinner-cum-Appreciation Drive, seminars and sharing sessions are also held within the academic year. These meaningful activities tremendously enhance home-school cooperation and improve communication between parents and children.
(2) School Ethos : Through our school motto "LABORE ET VIRTUTE" the spirit of our school is well manifested. We educate students in areas of moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic and emotional development through providing them with learning opportunities and experiences in different subjects, extra-curricular activities and activities organised by the Board of Value Education, Counselling Team, National Education Team and Values Education Team.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan : Our three major concerns for 2024-2027 are:
1. Enhancing students' national identity and sense of national pride through comprehensive national education;

3. Empowering Josephians to thrive in their full potential in everyday life and amid adversity.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : Three "Staff Development Days" are held every year with the aim of improving the effectiveness and the quality of learning and teaching. To keep teachers abreast of the latest trends in education, the School strategically arranges teachers to attend courses and seminars organised by the EDB, including training in senior secondary curriculum, courses on catering for diverse learning needs, national and national security education, values education and STEAM education. Besides, many teachers are pursuing postgraduate studies at the moment.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : 1. Extra-curricular activities at St. Joseph's College empower students to explore diverse interests, cultivate essential skills, and promote teamwork. With a plethora of over 50 clubs and teams spanning arts, sports, academics, and service, students have ample opportunities for personal and academic growth.
2. St. Joseph's College offers a range of diverse clubs and teams that engage students in various activities, upholding a tradition of excellence in extra-curricular events. The annual ECA Prize Giving Day celebrates student achievements. Students, supported by teachers, lead activities, nurturing leadership and innovation in a collaborative learning environment. Additionally, service training for different target groups enhances the ethos of giving back and community engagement.
3. The Vision 22 project has enhanced facilities in the new student activity hub, including STEM Room, Art Room, Computer Room, a renovated gym, student activity hubs, library improvements, and a revamped theatre, enriching their extracurricular experience.
4. To provide students with a comprehensive educational journey, St. Joseph's College organizes events such as ECA Week, the La Salle Schools exchange programme, sister school visits, and overseas study trips focused on various subjects, broadening students' perspectives and fostering holistic development.

Remarks : Non-Chinese Speaking students will be offered suitable Chinese Language curriculum after being assessed by the school with the use of the Chinese Language Assessment Tool on a yearly basis. Senior form students can, according to their ability, opt to sit for public exams of different kinds, such as GCSE, GCSE A Level, DSE. Besides, we also offer after-school courses, French and Japanese, for students to take at their own expenses.
