Secondary One Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life

Secondary One Admission	:	Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2026 ).Academic results: 40%; Conduct: 20%; Interview performance: 20%; Extra-Curricular Activities and services: 10%; School Comments and Awards: 10%.
Orientation Activities and Healthy Life	:	There is a bridging course in August for letting the new comers know more about different subjects and getting used to use English as medium of instruction for Mathematics and Integrated Science. The school aims to cultivate students' positive attitude towards healthy life as well as let them understand the importance of a healthy diet and exercise.

School Management
(1) School's Major Concerns	:	1. Make use of diversified strategies to cater for learner diversity and enhance students’ learning efficiency. 2. To promote teachers’ professional development and raise teaching efficiency. 3. To promote positive school culture, nurture students’ positivity and their resilience to become good citizens.
(2) School Management Organisation	:	The development of our school is under the leadership of the Principal and the School Executive Council. The school policy is implemented by different committees. The important committees in our school include: Administration Committee, Academic Committee, Discipline Committee, Counselling Committee, Career and Future Studies Committee, Students' Activities Committee, Students' Welfare Committee, General Affairs Committee, Science Development Committee and Information Technology Development Committee.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee	:	Incorporated Management Committee was established in 2006.
(4) School Green Policy	:	We pay great importance on school green policy. Environmental Protection Ambassador Scheme is heavily promoted in our school. There is a greenhouse in our school to let students understand the importance of environmental protection.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy	:	English is used as the main medium of instruction for some of the classes in our school in order to enhance students’ English learning. In addition to promoting English learning in our school, Japanese Education, which has been extended to the senior forms, has also become one of our highlights. Students taking Japanese Language will sit the public exam and the qualification is recognized as one of the criteria for university admission.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies	:	Actively launching the school-based curriculum: Apart from the general subjects, our school developed many school-based curricula such as Japanese Language Studies, Computer 3D Animation, Design and Technology, Commerce. We believe that under the education reform, these school-based curricula can serve as a positive indicator. We provide diversified and groundbreaking school-based curricula in order to enhance students’ development in the moral, intellectual, physical, social, and aesthetic aspects. We strive to develop students’ high-order thinking skills and their ability of life-long learning. Through various teaching strategies, we aim to strengthen students’ academic ability. Small-class teaching is adopted in Chinese, English and Mathematics classes in order to cater for individual differences. There are enhancement and remedial classes in our school to boost students’ learning motivation.
(3) School-based Curriculum	:	1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Conduct consultation in F.3 second term, and assign elective subjects according to their academic results and preferences. 2. Curriculum highlights: Citizenship, Economics and Society for Junior Forms, Japanese Language, Computer 3D Animation, Design and Technology, Commerce.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum	:	1. We devotedly promote learning through reading and we have reading programs organized by language teachers led by academic committee. 2. To correspond with the Policy Address, STEAM education is emphasized in our school in order to foster students' learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. 3. We actively encourage students to conduct project learning and some of their outstanding works even represent Hong Kong to compete with other countries.
(5) Life Planning Education	:	Citizenship, Economics and Society has been launched in Junior Forms so that students can better master life planning skills.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity	:	A learning Support Team has been set up to cater for learner diversity. For core subjects (Chinese, English and Mathematics), small-class teaching has been implemented. There are also after-school elite and remedial classes to support students’ learning.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education	:	The Special Educational Needs Team aims at identifying and providing support measures for students with special educational needs and helps promote a caring and inclusive school culture. The SEN Team is comprised of Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Special Educational Needs Support Teacher and School Social Workers. To cope with students' needs, we constantly review the support measures and offer courses on language therapy, social skills training and after-school tutorial classes to our students.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students	:	Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment	:	Apart from three formal assessments per year, students' classroom performance and the submission of their project works are also two important factors in assessing students' academic performance. The school also provides follow-ups for students with special educational needs, which include special internal assessment arrangements.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation	:	In order to build a closer tie between teachers and students, our Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) actively participates in activities of all kinds both inside and outside school. Over the past years, the PTA has been organising tea sessions for students going to sit the public examination as to show our genuine support to them.
(2) School Ethos	:	Our students are characterized by a virtue of simplicity. We focus highly on counselling and discipline. Our Counselling Committee always cooperates with social workers and holds different kinds of activities for students.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan	:	1. To nurture a positive school culture in a 3-year plan. The focus this year is diligence and integrity. 2. To enhance students' learning effectiveness, improve their results in public examinations and provide students with quality teaching through diversified teaching methods. 3. To arouse students' motivation and interest in learning and teach them how to grasp effective learning methods. 4. To boost students' confidence through encouraging students to participate in various competitions. 5. To enhance students' sense of belonging through consolidating different student organisations. 6. To promote multi-media learning. 7. To participate actively in different academic and non-academic competitions such as music, sports, speech and dancing.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development	:	We encourage our teachers to further their studies and join all activities which will enhance their professionalism. Thus, teachers are provided with enough time to attend seminars, workshops and talks for these purposes.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.)	:	We aim to provide students with a wide range of activities in order facilitate students’ all-round development inside and outside classrooms. We seek to help them build a positive outlook in life as well as enhance their creativity, leadership and communication skills. For achieving the goals, we endeavour to develop students academically, artistically and physically through different activities. Students are also encouraged to participate in community service and join different interest classes. We have set up 4 houses (Mind, Heart, Truth and Soul Houses), 24 school teams, 10 school clubs and 6 uniform groups as well as the Student Union.
Others	:	1. Our students have excelled in the HKDSE. Among those shining stars are Shum Chung Pan who got 5 in 5 subjects, Ling Cheuk Long 5 in 4 subjects, Li Shiqi, Chiu Wan Ching, Tse Wing Shun and Man Tsz Tung 5 in 3 subjects, Cho Kwan Nok 5 in 3 subjects and Wong Tsz Yan got 5* in 7 subjects. 2. Our school achieved outstanding results at the 2025 Inter-School Top Scholar Challenge, winning the 'Top Scholar Academy Award' and the 'Teacher of Top Scholars Award'. 3. Our boys’ and girls’ teams proudly secured the Overall Championship at the 2024-25 Yuen Long District Inter-School Competition. 4. YYC is a pioneer in Hong Kong in introducing the ‘3D Animation’ subject to its curriculum. The subject is now compulsorily taught to our junior form students. Over the years, our students have competed in different countries and won many distinguished awards. 5. Our school has been playing an active role in STEM development. In order to unlock students’ potential and better prepare them for working in high-technology industry, our school has opened a new information technology subject—CLAP-TECH. Our students have outstanding performance in STEM education. Every year they represent Hong Kong and get notable awards in both national and international competitions. 6. Much emphasis has been put on flourishing our students’ physical development and their glamorous results in interschool competitions have honoured the efforts we have paid. 7. Our music education not only provides a diversified curriculum to nurture students but also cultivates their music appreciation abilities. 8. To let our students fly high, our school encourages participation in exchange programmes outside Hong Kong. So far, YYC students have set foot in 4 continents. They have been to San Francisco of the USA, Romania, Türkiye, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan and Beijing, Guangzhou, Shunde, Xian and Dalian of China.
