Our school promotes a healthy school culture, with great emphasis on positive peer influence and life value cultivation. Health education is integrated into the school curriculum at both junior and senior levels. Various teams and external parties work collaboratively to develop a healthy school environment which gives support to students' intellectual, emotional and physical growth.

(2) School Management Organisation : Under school-based management, there are various departments and committees overseeing the school policy, school development, academic affairs, student admission & affairs, resource management, major functions, staff affairs, community and school co-operation, safety & crisis management, student development and other learning experiences.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : The School Management Committee was founded in 1999. It is currently chaired by a representative from the EDB, and consists of the Principal and representatives of teachers, parents, alumni and the community.

Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : The main medium of instruction of our school is English. For details, please refer to the subjects offered in the 2025/26 school year. Apart from employing a NET teacher, all the whole-school assemblies are conducted in English. The English Department, the English Debating Club, the English Drama Club and the Reading Club organise different activities for students to join and learn English outside the classroom. Students are encouraged to explore their interest in English debates, English drama and reading, etc.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : Various learning and teaching strategies are adopted in our school to cater for students’ diverse abilities and needs. Students are encouraged to extend their learning exposure through joining inter-school competitions, field studies and site visits. Our school nominates eligible students to join programmes organised by tertiary institutions so that they can widen their horizons, identify their potential, and gain useful insights in career and life planning. Students can also access eLearning platforms and apps to enrich their knowledge and cultivate a continuous learning habit. The school promotes an academic atmosphere through regular events such as Academic Week and whole school sharing sessions, allowing students to immerse themselves in different disciplines. In junior forms, cross-curricular project-based learning is implemented, encouraging students to collect information and engage in hands-on experiences, thereby enhancing their inquiry and higher-order thinking skills. Above all, our teachers collaborate with tertiary institutions to integrate elements of self-directed learning and artificial intelligence into lesson design and learning materials. By analysing students’ assessment data and applying effective questioning and feedback techniques, subject teachers continuously refine teaching strategies to enhance learning outcomes.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Our school adopts block timetabling to increase subject combinations.
2. Curriculum highlights: Through the school-based "English in Action" – Integrated Skills Curriculum of English Language taught by the Native-speak English teacher in S1, elements of the four language skills are incorporated into the specially designed curriculum to enhance students' knowledge of language arts and language competency. "Artificial Intelligence" is integrated into the curriculum of Design & Technology and Computer Literacy. STEAM education is promoted through collaboration with various subject departments to develop students' generic skills.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum : 1. Reading to Learn: An Online Platform has been set up for teachers, parents, alumni and students to recommend books they have read and share their reading experiences with one another. The school library organises new book exhibitions regularly. Students can further develop their self-learning skills via the online reading platform. Cross-curricular reading programmes are held constantly to deepen students' perception about the Chinese and foreign cultures, and to enhance their reading incentives.
2. Interactive Learning through Information Technology: The Computer Rooms facilitate interactive learning in the school. To enable students to use information effectively and ethnically, the school puts emphasis on nurturing their information literacy, and educates them to grow into responsible citizens and lifelong learners.
3. Moral, Civic and National Education: Flag-raising ceremony is held every week. Talks under the national flag and thematic board displays to enhance students' national identity are arranged regularly. A whole-school approach is adopted to help instill positive values and mental wellbeing in students through seminars and workshops. All subject departments incorporate the national security education, and twelve priority values and attitudes in their curriculum to facilitate the whole-person development of students.
4. Project Learning: Junior form students engage in cross-subject project learning to enrich their subject knowledge and develop their issue-enquiry skills.
(5) Life Planning Education : 1. To provide students with careers guidance in both junior and senior forms. To offer students with quality life-planning education and career guidance which are aligned with students' developmental needs at different stages of growth. To support students to make career decisions in accordance with their interests, abilities and orientations.
2. To handle information on careers matters. This includes the upkeep of a 'CLP Resource Centre'. Information on further education, job descriptions, job opportunities, changes of entry requirements to education institutes and job requirements are collected, updated and disseminated to students regularly.
3. To process students' application for further studies. Students' applications for admission to both local and overseas tertiary institutes are processed by the careers unit with the assistance of the class teachers concerned. Applications are processed through various admissions schemes such as the JUPAS (Joint University Programmes Admissions Scheme), E-APP and Mainland and other overseas admissions schemes.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : Conducting enhancement and remedial classes for students of different abilities, adjusting the teaching schedule through collaborative lesson preparation and using tailor-made learning and teaching materials are some of the measures that we use to cater for learner differences. As for support for student development, the Peer Counsellors Scheme helps the S.1 students deal with their academic and social needs so that they can enjoy a happy school life. The school social workers, counsellor and teachers work closely with the educational psychologist and the EDB to provide professional and appropriate support for students in need.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : The Whole-School Approach has been adopted to cater for student diversity and SEN. Our school strategically arranged teachers to attend relevant courses to enhance the professional capacity of the teaching force. Our school flexibly deploys the Learning Support Grant and additional funding and resources to cater for student diversity by purchasing professional services. We also provide school-based speech therapy service. To cultivate an inclusive and supportive school culture, S.1 Orientation Day Camp and Peer Counsellors Training Programme are held every year to promote respectful and supportive peer relationships. Curriculum and assessment accommodation, differentiated teaching strategies and homework arrangements are adopted to address the needs of individual students and to enhance their learning effectiveness. Regular meetings are held with EDB staff, the School-based Educational Psychologist and other experts to review the accommodation measures. Parents are encouraged to join meetings or workshops to discuss intervention programmes, draw up Individual Education Plan, evaluate the progress and the effectiveness and how to provide similar support for the students at home.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment : Every school year, there are 2 term tests and 2 examinations. Examination marks account for 70% of each student's overall result while term test, coursework and project marks the remaining 30%.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : The Parents' and Teachers' Association (PTA) of Chiu Lut Sau Memorial Secondary School was founded on 4th July 1993, with the objectives to strengthen parents’ communication and home-school partnership, to support the school in educating students and to enhance students’ welfare. Every year, the PTA organizes various educational and recreational activities, such as Parent Academy, picnics and publishing newsletter. Besides, the parent volunteers contribute tremendously to home-school co-operation by actively participating and assisting in school activities.
(2) School Ethos : Our school ethos is characterised by students' honesty, modesty and reverence, which account for the harmonious teacher-student relationship. We also emphasize the importance of nurturing students' self-discipline and creative thinking so as to ensure all-round education in moral, intellectual, physical, interpersonal and aesthetic fields. Under the guidance and support of the school social workers (posted to our school by the Scout Association of Hong Kong-The Friends of Scouting) and teachers of the Careers and Life Planning Team, the Counselling Team as well as the Discipline Team, our students enjoy a fulfilling school life and display a strong desire to strive for excellence.

(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : Our school supports and encourages teaching staff to attend professional development courses and seminars to strengthen their professionalism. Through various workshops, teachers enhance their assessment literacy, refine questioning and feedback techniques, and improve overall teaching effectiveness. In addition, collaborative lesson planning, peer lesson observation, and open lessons are also promoted to foster professional interflow. Above all, teachers are welcome to share their professional knowledge during departmental and staff meetings.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : Our school provides students with the opportunities to gain Other Learning Experiences, including aesthetic development, community service, physical development, career-related experiences, interest groups, students' exchange programmes and other extra-curricular activities. Amongst 59 ECA clubs and societies, students can choose to join the activities according to their abilities and interests. Students, under the coordination of 4 houses and Student Union, are actively involved in various inter-house academic and athletic competitions to vie for the Overall Championship. Thanks to the outstanding performance of our students, we won multiple awards in Inter-school Competitions (Yuen Long District) over the years.

Exchange Programmes and Study Tours: Our school is dedicated to organizing exchange programs on various themes to broaden students' global perspectives, enhance their understanding of Mainland's development, and cultivate their sense of national identity. In addition to cultural exchanges with our two sister schools, Shenzhen Fuyuan School and Ningbo Zhenhai Jiaochuan College, we organize thematic tours to Mainland cities to enrich students’ understanding of the historical and current socio-economic development of China. We also arrange overseas study tours to enhance students' language proficiency, STEAM knowledge, and generic skills, thereby benefiting whole person development and fostering respect for diverse cultures.
