Orientation Activities and Healthy Life : Pre-S1 Bridging Programme, S1 Orientation Programme and S1 English, Chinese & Mathematics Summer Enhancement Course.
To cultivate lifelong healthy habits, the school integrating health education across subjects such as Science, Home Economics, Religious Education and Physical Education, covering personal hygiene, food safety, balanced nutrition, mental wellbeing, sex education and fitness. The school promotes physical and mental well-being through a wide array of whole-school activities like "Mental Health Week", monthly "PERMA Day" and "Fun & Fit Friday".

School Management
(1) School's Major Concerns : To empower students to be proactive learners in the 21st century and to nurture students’ holistic well-being.
(2) School Management Organisation : The Principal leads the School Development and Administration Committee to formulate the school’s development goals and policies. This committee holds regular meetings to plan and review school policies. Various committees have been formed to implement the school policies and manage students affairs, including the Academic Committee, Guidance and Discipline Committee, Life-Wide Learning Committee, Career Guidance Committee, Values Education Committee and Religious Education Committee, etc.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee : The Incorporated Management Committee has been set up in September 2011. It consists of representatives of the school sponsoring body, parents, teachers, alumnae and independent school mangers.
(4) School Green Policy : Our major aim is to cultivate environmental awareness and promote sustainable development among all students through workshops, seminars and school-wide initiative. A Green Ambassador is selected from each class to promote eco-friendly practices and active participation in environmental conservation.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy : All subjects are taught in English except for Chinese Language, Chinese History, Putonghua and Religious Education. There is an English-rich environment at school to arouse students' interests in learning English, which are much enhanced by drama education in English lessons for S1 and S2 students. To develop students’ biliterate and trilingual competencies, Putonghua lessons are offered in junior levels.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies : Guided by Christian spirit of benevolence, our school is committed to providing holistic education for girls. We place great care to nurture the moral character, intellectual growth, physical health, social, aesthetic and spiritual developments of students, empowering them to reach their full potential. Our learning and teaching strategies foster proactive learning and independent thinking, enabling students to cultivate an inquiring mind, cultivate proper values and develop positive attitudes to life.
(3) School-based Curriculum : 1. Electives: Senior secondary students can choose two to three elective subjects.
2. Curriculum highlights: Tailor-made learning materials have been developed by various subjects to realise our visions and cater for diverse learning needs, school-based subjects, like Business Fundamentals (S3), Aesthetic Development (S4-S6), and Career Education (S3-S4) are incorporated in our curriculum to provide more comprehensive learning experiences for our students.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum : The school curriculum emphasises a comprehensive, future-oriented education that integrates interdisciplinary learning, self-regulated skill development, technological proficiency, and global awareness. Through themed learning weeks, cross-curricular projects, and experiential learning, students gain interconnected knowledge while strengthening problem-solving skills. The curriculum fosters independent learning through preparatory exercises, self-study materials, and application of AI in learning and teaching, empowering students to take ownership of their education. Beyond the classroom, sustainability initiatives, study tours, and leadership development prepare students for global citizenship by cultivating adaptability, cross-cultural competence, and social responsibility.
(5) Life Planning Education : Our school has developed a systematic framework for life planning education for the holistic development of students. Students are provided with opportunities to understand themselves, and learn about career exploration and career management so that they can be more prepared to make informed choices for further study and future career. With the support from such resources as the community and parents, a wide variety of activities such as talks, visits, job experience programmes and a mentorship scheme are also available and students are encouraged to participate in them.
Apart from students, teachers and parents are also equipped to support students during their transition period from school to work in the form of staff development programmes, talks and workshops.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity : To cater for students with individual needs, our school has established Guidance and Discipline Committee, Learning Support Committee, Gifted Education Committee and NCS Students' Education Working Group. A wide variety of activities and workshops are organised regularly to cultivate students' interests and develop their potentials.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education : The school is committed to building a culture of inclusiveness and caring by the whole school participation to support students with special educational needs. Students in need are provided with appropriate and diversified support services to enhance students' learning efficiency and help them to integrate into campus life. The school values “home-school cooperation” and advises parents on strategies to support students through different channels. The Learning Support Committee, consisting of a Special Educational Needs Coordinator, social workers, an educational psychologist and a team of professionally trained teachers and supporting staff, is set up to support SEN students. The school has utilised the "Learning Support Grant" flexibly to purchase additional services such as emotional management training courses, speech therapy services, after-school learning motivation and skills enhancement classes, and inclusive activities. School social workers and educational psychologists provide social skills training for students in need, arrange students to participate in volunteer services and visit different institutions to assist them in career planning. Speech therapists provide parents with professional advice to help students improve their speech problems at home. The school helps students with special education needs to apply for special arrangements in internal and public examinations. The school provides information on the services of external organisations for students and their parents. It provides school-based training workshops on "Caring for different learning needs" and arranges teachers to attend training courses run by the EDB.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students : Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment : There are two examinations in each academic year and at least one test in each term. The results of the tests weigh 30% of the overall mark and those of the examinations weigh 70%.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation : In order to facilitate the communication and cooperation of parents and school, "True Light Girls' College Parent-Teacher Association" was established in 1999. The PTA holds and sponsors various activities, such as "Old Book Selling", "S1 Form Association Inauguration Ceremony", "Annual Concert", "Reading Scheme" and parent talks. In 2011, the PTA established the “Student Activity Fund” to sponsor life-wide learning activities, encouraging students to explore diverse interests and promote whole person development.
(2) School Ethos : The school motto is "Thou Art the Light of the World". In pursuance of the Christian spirit of love and equality, we engage ourselves in providing quality education for girls. We encourage our students to follow the teaching of Christ "to love thy neighbors as thyself" and develop a community spirit. Mentoring scheme is established so student leaders can serve as role models for junior students. It is hoped that students can be trained to be more self-disciplined. Through the establishment of Form Association and the mentoring schemes for S6 and S3, S5 and S2, S4 and S1, we aim at further fostering students' collaborative and co-operative spirit so that they can establish positive relationships with others.
Future Development
(1) School Development Plan : The two areas of concern for 2025/26 - 27/28 are:
1. To empower students to be proactive learners in the 21st century.
2. To nurture students’ holistic well-being.
(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development : Teachers are encouraged to attend courses and seminars organised by the EDB. The Staff Development Committee has been set up to organise professional development programmes for all staff in alignment with the school’s development and major concerns.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.) : About 50 clubs and interest groups: religious, academic, recreational, social services, performing arts and uniform teams.
Others : Our school provides lots of opportunities for students to serve the community through different ECA organisations and NGOs. This enhances their awareness to the needs of different people in the community. Study tours to Mainland and overseas are organised to broaden students' horizons.
