Secondary One Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life

Secondary One Admission	:	Our school will accept discretionary places. Orientation Activities and Healthy Life	:	To help S.1 students adapt to secondary school life, we organize Summer Bridging Courses on English Language, Mathematics and Science. We also organize English Day Camp. Every year in late August, there is an Orientation Day for S.1 students. Student Counsellors from senior forms are assigned to take care of a group of S.1 students throughout the year. Our school provides a healthy and safe environment. We have a comprehensive set of health policies on prevention of pandemics, maintaining a drug-free and non-smoking campus, promoting healthy diet and student health care. To cultivate a healthy lifestyle among students, our school has introduced new sports activities. We also join School Physical Fitness Award Scheme.

School Management
(1) School's Major Concerns	:	Provide all-rounded learning opportunities and foster positive education.
(2) School Management Organisation	:	Our school is a member school of the Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China, carrying out its educational ideology with emphasis on ‘Whole-person Education’, and confirming that the true meaning of education lies in the cultivation of life and the formation of character. We pride ourselves in our well-established management and organization. Under the direction of The Incorporated Management Committee and the school supervisor, the principal and the vice-principals implement school-based management. All executive committees and subject departments have clear division of work and are well-coordinated.
(3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee	:	The establishment of The Incorporated Management Committee on 1st September 2011 further helps to facilitate and perfect school administration. The Incorporated Management Committee consists of school sponsoring body managers, teacher managers, parent managers, alumni manager, independent manager and the principal.
(4) School Green Policy	:	Our school promotes green living in various aspects. We encourage students to conserve energy and reduce wastes, for example, reusing one-sided paper, and bringing their own water bottles. Various departments and committees often organize environmental protection activities and field studies in order to enhance students’ awareness in conserving the environment.
Learning and Teaching Plan
(1) Whole-school Language Policy	:	Our school puts great emphasis on enhancing students' language proficiency in English. It is also the medium of instruction in some junior forms, except for subjects such as Chinese, Chinese History, Putonghua and Religious Studies.
(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies	:	"Our school strives for excellence in students’ academic performance for which the curriculum is designed for diversified learners. We value whole-person development and nurturing students’ multiple intelligence. We emphasize developing students’ independent learning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are the cornerstones of being a self-directed learner. Ultimately, they become lifelong learners. Being responsive to curriculum reform, field trips and outings are arranged for different forms of students to broaden their horizons. Project learning is implemented in the junior forms and has been proven effective in consolidating students’ learning. We are dedicated to promoting reading for we believe that reading is the foundation of the learning process. The school library cooperates with different subject departments in promoting a rich reading environment. To assist students to establish regular reading habits, apart from implementing the Morning Reading Programme, Mandatory Reading Programme is launched in junior forms. Also, the English and Chinese Departments organize Extensive Reading Programme and Online Reading Programme to further enrich the reading culture on campus. To engage students in reading, our school library organizes book fairs and recommends suitable books to students regularly. Certificates are presented to keen readers in recognition of their efforts. Our school promotes e-learning. All forms have adopted “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) to promote interaction in the lessons and facilitate students’ own learning after school.
(3) School-based Curriculum	:	1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Senior form students can choose among 10 electives and Mathematics Extended Part. 2. Curriculum highlights: The core curriculum is appropriately fine-tuned to cater for learning diversity in the classroom. Enhancement and consolidation classes are organized after school so as to enhance learning outcome.
(4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum	:	Our school emphasizes the four key tasks below: 1. Morning sessions are arranged regularly to cultivate students’ habits of reading across the curriculum. 2. Life and Society curriculum is designed to enhance critical thinking in junior forms. 3. Teachers apply information technology in teaching and students are able to use I.T. for interactive learning. 4. A wide range of activities are held to bolster students' moral, civic and national consciousness and broaden their perspectives. They provide students with opportunities to gain a comprehensive understanding of the country and show concerns about social and world issues. All subjects include topics on the ""Constitution,"" ""Basic Law,"" and national security to enhance students' understanding of national security. Reading schemes, projects, visits, co-curricular activities, community service, joint-school activities and cross-boundary learning activities are organized to unlock learners’ full potential.
(5) Life Planning Education	:	Our college stresses the importance of career and life planning for our students. On top of the large-scaled activities, mass talks, class-based workshops organized based on students’ needs of different stages, elements of career and life education are provided in the formal curriculum of the junior forms in order to enhance students’ self-understanding and foster a positive attitude towards work and life. Information of mainland, local and non-local multi-pathways, company visits, internships, and individual career guidance are duly provided so that students can have a better understanding of vocational and professional education and training, explore their career options and be well-equipped for their career life after secondary education.
Student Support
(1) Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity	:	The Student Development Team is responsible for coordinating resources for the caring of student growth and the training of student leaders. The implementation of value education through whole school events, regular weekly and morning assemblies and class-based activities enables students to have a balanced development in knowledge, affection and attitude.
(2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education	:	The whole-school approach is adopted to implement integrated education. A student support group has been established with the learning support grant to serve students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Members include a SEN coordinator, two social workers, an educational psychologist, Counselling Committee, Academic Committee, supporting teachers and teaching assistants. Individual counselling, workshops, other services (such as, clinical psychological assistance and speech and hearing therapy and occupational therapy) provided by outsourcers, homework accommodation, assessment accommodation are measures to cater for their special needs.
(3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students	:	Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school.
(4) Measures to Provide Adaptation for Learning and Assessment	:	In addition to regular uniform tests and examinations throughout the year, summative assessment is used to evaluate students' daily performances and encourage active participation in class. To implement small-class teaching in English lessons, students are streamed into groups according to their language proficiency. After-school enhancement courses are run for high achievers to stretch their abilities while consolidation courses are run for tailing students to cater for their needs.
Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
(1) Home-School Co-operation	:	Established in 1994, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) aims to foster home-school cooperation. We organize seminars, workshops and courses for parents about parenting. The Resources Centre has been set up for better communication and unity among parents.
(2) School Ethos	:	Our school is dedicated to nurturing positive qualities in students through the Discipline and Counseling Committees. We inspire students to discern right from wrong while upholding a commendable ethos rooted in love and care. Our "Change for the Better" program promotes self-improvement, self-love, and self-discipline. Additionally, we focus on training future leaders through regular leadership development activities, empowering our students to grow in a supportive community.

(2) Teacher Professional Training and Development	:	Our school is committed to teachers’ professional development and training. Externally, we participate in school-based support programme. Through experienced educators’ sharing, professional mentorship programme and workshops on teaching skills, teachers are equipped with essential skills and knowledge to keep up with the latest development in education. To further enhance our teachers’ professionalism, our teaching staff establishes a learning community. We engage in group professional dialogues, workshops, peer lesson observations, and collaborative lesson planning in which we share insights and experiences on AI educational application, self-directed learning, teenage development and administrative management. The multi-faceted teacher development activities help to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Life-wide Learning (Including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be Provided through Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc.)	:	There are a total of 30 extra-curricular activities ranging from academic societies to interest groups, from social service teams to Christian Fellowship, from physical training to aesthetic training. Special activities are held on a regular basis, including Sports Days, Moral Education Week, Gospel Week, STEM Week, English Week, Overseas Study Tour, Leadership Training Camp, inter-class competitions, inter-house competitions, school picnic, Kei Long Race and various inter-school functions and competitions. A mandatory community service programme will be launched for S.4 students.
