| Learning and Teaching Plan | ||
| (1) Whole-school Language Policy | : | Our school places great emphasis on English teaching and learning. Since the 2010-11 academic year, English has been utilized as the primary medium of instruction in our S.1 classes. (Please refer to the subjects offered in the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 School Year for more details). We strive to enhance our students' English proficiency through a range of language activities, including English study tours, English Action Days, English drama competitions, and performances. Students actively participate in the English speech festival, English public speaking competitions, Scrabble competitions, and debate competitions. To further strengthen English learning and teaching, our school employs English as the primary medium of instruction for numerous subjects. The daily morning announcements broadcasted through our PA system are conducted in English. Additionally, on Saturday mornings, the school offers English enhancement classes. |
| (2) Learning and Teaching Strategies | : | To facilitate school development, our school focuses on the following areas: 1. Providing additional opportunities for students to apply self-directed learning strategies, such as providing assessment rubrics, peer evaluation, and using e-learning platforms for instant feedback; and enhance the effectiveness of organizing what they have learned and reflecting on it. 2. Enhancing students' proficiency in English to elevate their language skills. 3. Empowering teachers to apply "Thinking Routines" in the classroom to facilitate students in visualizing their thought processes. 4. Introducing Global Classroom to provide students with opportunities to engage with individuals from different cultures to widen students’ horizons. 5. Implementing various measures, plan and execute school-based gifted education initiatives. This includes providing tutorial and enrichment classes for both high-achieving and low-achieving students. 6. Promoting e-learning through the utilization of platforms and applications such as Microsoft Teams, LoiloNote, Nearpod, and eClass to spark students' interest in learning and cultivate a spirit of self-regulated learning. 7. Utilizing assessment analysis tools, artificial intelligence (AI) tools, advanced online self-directed learning resources, and question banks to support student learning. 8. Creating an environment that encourages striving for excellence and personal development, while also recognizing outstanding performance and significant improvements. |
| (3) School-based Curriculum | : | 1. Electives: 3X. 13 elective subjects. Most of them use English as the Medium of Instruction. 2. Curriculum highlights: To equip students with the necessary knowledge for the NSS curriculum, different curricula have been designed in addition to the formal curriculum. For example, for Junior forms, we offer STREAM, Life Education and Computer Studies. To widen students’ learning experiences, Other Learning Experiences (OLE) sessions are scheduled in the afternoon of every Day 6. This allows committees and subject panels to organise diverse learning activities to promote a well-balanced, whole-person development in our students. |
| (4) Major Renewed Emphases in the School Curriculum | : | Cultivating Reading Habits: Reading across the Curriculum (RaC) is an integral part of our curriculum. Students are provided with opportunities to read books and share their reading experiences during RaC lessons. Additionally, we are dedicated to creating a reading culture and cultivate students' interest and habits in reading. Each learning area will engage in cross-curricular reading based on themes, teaching content, and the characteristics of each subject. In addition to subject teachers' primary responsibility of teaching subject content, they also prioritize enhancing students' English language proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. The school has partnered with CityU Talent and Education Development Office (TED) and Coursera, one of the leading MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) platforms, to implement the first school-based Secondary Four MOOCs curriculum. S4 students will participate in this school-based MOOC curriculum offered by CityU TED and Coursera. Alongside the training sessions provided by the universities in Hong Kong, Coursera will support our students in obtaining verified certificates from prestigious universities worldwide.
